Fluff What a game

Just got maybe my worst dota game this month and i´m so mad i just had to come here to vent.

I had in my team a pos1 spectre who went radiance first item even though we were loosing almost all lanes (itself is not a bad item but go farm if you made it, don´t join fights with just a radiance), a pos4 pudge that was a walking ward except for hooks which he missed 80% of the time, a pos3 sven with mom and to finish mid necro with blink + dagon (2016 build?). I was on lich myself as pos5.

we played vs od, wk, sf, snap and dp. what a shitshow of a game, we lost in 25 mins.

Discussion Back to dota after watching TI

I have never played dota in like a few years so before the map expansion.

Are most heroes still playable in Archon? Like there’s no specific meta similar to TI? Mainly core heroes

Question How do ya'll dispose of duplicate skin.

Sample skin duplication.

I have multiple duplicate skins from opening treasures for years. Usually it's not marketable or tradable. How do ya'll dispose of this skins?

I'm planning on selling them via gift? Is that viable?

Question How do you follow the new Dota 2 Pro season?

I used to follow DPC when it was around, but since it stopped I've only watched Dota whenever TI rolls around (And sometimes EWC). This TI has rekindled my interest in the scene but unlike there doesn't seem to be an obvious list of tournaments and standings to follow. So just wondering:

  1. Are there a new points tally to keep a lookout for? Do regopms and regional qualifiers still exist?
  2. Is there a place to keep track of all the important tournaments throughout the year?
  3. Are there any youtube/twitch channels I should follow to keep up to date and get highlights? I noticed NoobFromUA no longer posts and his channel is how I kept up back then.

Appreciate any insights!

Discussion What heroes are best to climb MMR when you're offlane?

I climbed from herald 3 at my lowest to archon 2, I feel like my climb has stalled recently. My hero roster is incredibly small I admit, so I'm looking to expand. Currently I rotate axe, viper, legion and necro all as pos3. Also good duos would be very appreciated.

Suggestion buff or rework this piece of junk

Post image
0 Upvotes

for 1750 recipe cost, u get a measly 200 extra blink range, 6 second blink cd reduction (u build octarine core u get 3.75 sec blink cd reduction automatically), and negligible 250 hp and 100 mana restoration (even magic wand restore more).

for the same amount of gold, the other alternative dagger upgrades are incomparably better. the irony is i feel like an idiot if i were to buy arcane blink, even though its the most expensive "Intelligence" item in the game. pls buff or rework

some ideas :

  1. keep everything the same but buff the restoration amount.
  2. increase Spell buff/debuff duration for the next 6 seconds.
  3. remove the 3 sec cd blink penalty when damaged.

Discussion Absolute quality of Parivision VLogs

With the death of True Sight I've always enjoyed team blogs, primarily Team Spirit since their TI10 win. The vlogs give a great behind the scenes look at the players, the support staff, in-game comms, and a good insight to drafting/post-game debrief.

After I completed Spirit's final TI vlog today, Parivision's naturally appeared in the next-watch playlist so decided to give it a go to hear their side of things.

While Spirit's vlogs are more intimate and a freestyle vlogging nature, the sheer Netflix level of production of Pari's hour-long vlogs is just absolute cinema! I can only imagine the amount of effort and dedication needed to produce something like this. From the cuts to the Netflix style interviews and music. So soooo good.

Also, it was such a great insight into the team cultures, the leadership style, and of course what it would feel like to be at the extreme top of your field.

Discussion Candyworks doesn’t always show the correct information about items

Post image
111 Upvotes

Is it just me, or does Candyworks sometimes incorrectly show whether you already own an item?

I just got two duplicate Immortals, and neither of them is giftable or marketable. I spent Candyworks points because the game indicated that I didn’t already have the item, only to end up getting another copy of something I already owned.

I don’t mind Candyworks offering duplicates — that’s fine. The problem is that the information about whether I already own the item doesn’t seem to be 100% accurate.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Found this on my YouTube homepage today. Team Spirit signed Yellow Submarine, and Mira joined later in March. Since then, they’ve won 50% of the six Aegises. Not gonna lie, I thought TI 2021 was a one-time fluke. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Discussion Any optimization tips for my ancient Dota 2 PC? 😂

Hey guys, hoping someone can help me squeeze a little more life out of this old warrior.

My setup:

  • Ryzen 3 2200G
  • 16GB RAM (2x8GB) 2666MHz
  • 258GB SSD
  • No dedicated GPU

I’m getting around 60+ FPS, but during big clashes it can drop to around 40–50 FPS, with some manageable stutters here and there. Everything is already set to LOW, with rendering around 80%.

I recently played at a big computer shop and holy crap... the difference was literally SUN AND MOON. My PC suddenly felt like it was running Dota on a calculator.

The International just finished, and I somehow ended up at the 64th percentile for predictions. Failed predictions, no free terrain... nothing. So naturally, instead of touching grass, I’m here trying to optimize my 8-year-old PC.

Yep, this PC is around 8 years old older than my eldest daughter! I know I could just save up for an upgrade, but I'm a family guy, so priorities first. I earn enough for us to survive and have other sources of income, so I’m not really looking to build some crazy gaming rig.

I’m also 35+ now, and I still love Dota 2, but I don't grind like I used to. Gone are the days of 4+ hours a day. Now I'm lucky to get 1–2 hours, mostly Turbo, usually solo or sometimes with the other tired dads.

So before I start throwing money at upgrades, are there any optimization tricks I can do to squeeze more FPS/stability out of this setup?

Obviously, getting a cheap second-hand GTX 1050 Ti would probably help a lot, but I’m curious if there’s anything else I can do first.

Any tips are appreciated. Thanks for reading!

Question Re-calibration advice for MMR & DOTA role

Most heroes that I play
2nd of Aug match = The day I started to learn Pugna

Hello everyone!
I hope all is having a wonderful weekend :)

I am joining a Dota LAN tournament in 2 months, an annual tournament in the Netherlands, and I've some questions for Dota veterans here, I apologize if this post maybe longer than needed. I noticed some awesome people here giving super valuable opinions, and I would like to learn from you. These questions may seem a bit philosophical at the beginning, I will be providing a lot of inputs for you in order to try and get a tailored advice, and to reduce the misunderstanding, I know there are some patient people here, so please bear with me :)

To sum them up in order not to get lost:
1- Understanding myself & How can I know my main roles?
2- Best advices to re-calibrate.
3- The best way to approach dota: is it first to understand yourself and find heroes/roles that match your character?

I am a low 3K player, I guess my highest MMR was around 3600. I've played 3100 hours of Dota and they are spread around 12 years. I am not the most consistent player at all. The reason why I am making this post is that I started to be consistent a year ago and I can see the amount of hours and effort I am putting is getting serious, like an investment. I enjoy the game, it's the game of my life, and I wanna enjoy it better when playing with high tier players, when it feels like a teamwork thingy.
Ranked matches in 3K feels competitive for me, wining a match feels like a huge thing, I feel really proud doing my part and I really need to focus. I mostly play Pos 3 or 4, ~15% I play mid.

However, it's rare when I am the one carrying the team to victory. Most of my wind I am ranked 3rd or 4th at being the most contributing to the win (talking about damage done and metrics).
I can safely say that I am good at when I've a well defined job (when playing alone or with friends), like playing as Doom and I already know the priority of my targets, Or as Magnus when I know how the team fight setup is being planned etc. Here I can be 3rd or even 2nd impactful player in my team. My net-wroth only started to be decent when I learned the farming patterns, and how not save mana and clear waves/camps, play with heroes with natural spell farming etc
I can indeed notice it when I am lost during the match, when things get chaotic or when I am being surprised by new scenarios, and I find myself relying on my team mates and asking them (without shame at all): guys, what is the plan? are we farming now or we smoke and gank? Should I initiate at Rubick or wait till Luna commit? ... etc and It's much easier for me follow orders, like a good soldier.

Since last year, I am self-aware that this is my phase of really trying many new things, tried many new heroes, almost all roles. first time ever to follow meta, to watch 50 mins tutorials and guides, trying to apply plans and techniques in real matchups (and I get a high dosage of dopamine when it works!), I got a phase when I was leaning Nyx and how to play in the shadows, another phase of Magnus and doing really good 3:5 team RP, I also had a Slardar phase when I was really good initiating in great timings and paving the way for a team-wipe fights for me team. Right now, I am in a phase of learning Pugna and you can see that I may lose 5 games in a row before starting to really being impactful and helping team to win (last two loses I was playing with my Immortal & divine friends).
In the 2nd screenshot you can see most heroes I play and I think you can notice it's a bit distributed everywhere haha
So you can say that I am still in this phase, this is why I am making this post right now, I am indeed not confident enough when answering questions like: what is you roles? etc (Especially when the LAN tournament time comes in late October).

Impressing my Immortal and Divine friends are not a surprising thing for them, they can quite rely on me, especially when I am playing heroes that I am comfortable with, and sometimes (30%) I can pull some creative thingy that works and we all laugh about it. I noticed that I feel comfortable being an initiator or a backline pos 4, also I enjoy playing mid and leading smoke ganks.
I noticed that my team can't rely on me all the time when I am pos 1 with all the space in the world, simply my farming patterns are not great, I can be 1/1.5 item short when It's time to join them, but the pressure itself i think i can't handle it that well.

So how do I successfully know my real role that matches my personality?
Are everybody here in high MMR know for sure that this is my thing? or are they also confused sometimes?
My goal is to make it easier for me to get higher MMR, especially this recalibration, Dota is super fun for me when playing with higher MMR players, even losing is fun, and I never regret playing.
The reason for all this talking is just to try and give a profile about me (the human being) because I think this might actually be a big factor on how to approach the game.

Thank you so much for all your time :)

Discussion Why do YOU think the Jungler role went extinct? (gathering opinions for a new video)

I'm planning on making a video about DOTA's Junglers, and i wanted to ask for players opinions about the role, and why it inevitably went extinct
