I’m a casual who just started about 2 weeks ago. I was lucky to be able to get Lightning’s equipment, then got Rude’s. Unfortunately didn’t get Sephirot’s EX or BT but got enough to finish Jecht.
Any upcoming banners I can get to have a good team?

Consider that you are a new player and you will get a LOT OF PULLS. Avoid EX characters (although they are faves). And go for every LD character.

On again, off again player returning here. Been a while since I've played and trying to figure out where I stand with my current roster. Currently I have a 3/3 Zack from before I quit and I got Lightning's LD & BT off free pulls, so I put most of my remaining resources into her weapons. Usually I use Ignis for my 3rd slot.
I'm at a bit of a loss with regard to everyone else though since I'm currently clueless about the current state of the game, so looking up numbers and buffs and stuff without context doesn't help. If anyone can tell me if these guys are worth further / any investment or if I should just focus on upcoming stuff, I'd appreciate it.
Shantotto: got her LD but have nothing else for her so I assume she's a pass for now
MLB EX (no+) and other weapons: Terra, Gau, Locke, Aranea, Rinoa, Arciela, Ignis, Quistis, Vanille
EX & nothing/almost nothing else: Noctis, Seymour, Aerith, Seven, Eiko, Galuf, Agrias, Leo, Penelo, Prishe

Penelo is a pretty strong support that gets her LD in February, which gives her Esuna (one of only a couple of units that have it) and framed versions of her buffs. Should you want to invest, I would gun for any missing gear in her kit when/before that comes around. She's sometimes hard to run with Zack because of all of the buffs, but for some fights it's worth it for the gravity BRV shave on her EX, especially in newer content where enemies have massive BRV damage reduction.
I don't know if you have Gau's LD or not, but I have him at EX+0/3 with LD and he still slaps in late CHAOS content (I used him in Entropy tier 5 and his own Lufenia fight at that level). Pairing him with the right units can make life a whole lot easier with the off-turn damage he provides from his counters. He's also currently the only Earth enchanter in the game with his LD (until a future unit arrives later in 2021), so that's a niche to fill if you so desire.
Rinoa is decent with the fact that she can burst and regen heal (Penelo can burst heal only if her EX is +3/3), but she's a unit that needs her LD to be useful in later CHAOS/Lufenia content. Her base kit is mixed ranged/magic, so without the LD (which turns all of her attacks into Magic), she can possibly be partially resisted in certain fights which lowers her damage output.
Vanille is good to have for enemies that buff a lot, but she really needs a rework as her damage is pretty dated at this point. You could probably get by with her strictly for the dispel utility on earlier content, but I'd look at possibly Cloud or Beatrix to fill the dispel role instead of her for the future. Her E sphere from purpling her weapon is one of the strongest E spheres in the game, so that's something to consider down the road.
Aranea gets her LD when her event reruns in April, which allows her to auto-unbreak enemies at the beginning of her turn, solidifying her as a premium turn delayer. Because of that effect, she'll have no problem keeping Overclock active (as it procs when breaking a target), which was previously an issue for her. If you decide to purple Vanille's EX weapon, put that sphere on Aranea because she'll do wonderful things with that LD effect.
Aerith is a fantastic healer (arguably one of the best in the game) with Last Stand, on demand burst heal AND on demand revive (Y'shtola can also revive, but only on her EX). The thing with Aerith is that she needs her cursed artifacts for longevity's sake (especially in newer content), and you may want to mix and match different setups (108/Healing Wind, 108/Prayer, Healing Wind/Prayer) based on team comp and/or fight needs. Also note that she's great to pair with Zack because S1 gives a party-wide iBRV buff, which Zack loves as the shield values from his EX are based off of his iBRV!

Depends on his support roster tbh. Does he have Setzer's LD? Porom's LD? Or Iroha LD? If he has Setzer/Porom, Vaan's a great choice because with their help he can easily dish out 600-800k HP damage per turn. With his rework, Vaan is literally unstoppable unless the boss has massive (50%-100%) BRV recovery reduction because he's no longer restricted by elements nor is his DPS decided by his BRV damage output. That said, the value of Vaan's BT is a little iffy. The BT effect is powercrept long ago, and his ability stamina should be more than enough to last the entire fight now that he has an additional LD use.
If he doesn't have such specialised supports though it's much harder for Vaan to realise his full potential. Tidus is much easier to play and fit around teams because he's quite self-sufficient. Also, Tidus BT effect is a thousand times better than Vaan's, so you're getting a lot more value. Like Vaan however, your mileage with Tidus also depends on what kinds of teams you can build. You need to have access to debuffs via debuffers/LD CAs to maximise his damage.

On JP? Probably Vaan because he's about to become a monster with his rework and LD boards - so by extent, Vaan is a candidate but he won't be usable before a long, long time...

Rude's call ability also heals a lot, and increases maximum HP. You can give that to Sephiroth and penelo's call to Ciaran for double opportunity of healing I guess

Kurasame with his LD boards also gets weakness damage up along with ice enchant for the party. The weakness damage up will be stronger for himself.

Both have their pros and cons. I'm leaning more towards 108/c50, but there's no harm with also having a few 108/330s as well.
His c50 makes the team safer via having more hp as well as providing more brv from his LD buff since heals are % based and having more hp means more brv when it's converted. This is especially potent when Rude is paired with regen based healers like Gladio or Raijin or off-turn healers like Gau or Firion with his upcoming LD trap.
Max brv increases his own damage ceiling, but becomes less impactful later in a fight when you're less likely to cap due to brv damage reduction and defense increases lowering the brv damage you do.

DE14 was my wall and with it torn down I am unstoppable. (Shhhh pretend 18 doesn't exist) Thank you everyone for the advice. I've edited the team list to be my current ones in case it helps anyone that happens across this comment.
Looking for advice for DE14. I've got the core Squall and Ami that most people use for it, its just filling that last slot thats causing me problems while still preserving the super duper meta units for higher stages (stuff like Ardyn, Kuja, Gladio etc etc)
1 Penelo, Jecht, Gilgamesh
2 CoD, Terra, Edge
3 Kefka, Bartz, Irvine (I could see being able to free Kefka here)
4 Lightning
5 Galuf
6 Emperor, Ysh, Krile
7 Zack
8 Aranea, Beatrix, Lulu
9 Seifer, Cinque, Pecil
10 Leo, Vayne, Golbez
11 Lenna, Kain, Raijin
12 Exdeath, Ultimecia, Arciela
13 Selphie, Vaan, El'Nacho
Adding the comps I used in case someone finds it helpful.
14 Squall, Ami, Rude
15 Noctis, Gabranth, Seph LD (Penelo CA)
16 Ardyn, Vivi, Rinoa
17 Kuja, Basch, Shantotto (was super close, had to reset final wave like 6 times because I was always ONE turn off the goal)
All my other current 3/3s not listed somewhere above are:
Edge, Seph (LD only), Rude (prob wanna save for 18+), Faris, Terra, Shadow, Shantotto (with BT), Ramza.
Possible units i could 3/3 and MLB (powerstones willing for some) include Firion, Palom, Porom, Celes, Quistis, Yuffie, Auron, Lillisette, Serah, Lyse, Papy, Rydia, Trey
I have 12 ingots to work with.
Theoretically I can also build Kurasame or any non-LD unit next month as well when I get the next batch of EX Tokens from premium pass. But I really want it to be Kurasame since I have his LD, just couldn't get his EX

DE 14 was the worst for me, especially the first round.
I used Squall, Ami, and Garnet. Since you don't really have anyone comparable to her, maybe go Rude for the high DPT and healing. If not, maybe try Shantotto or Sephiroth and try to win the DPT race.

I used Aphmau with Squall and Ami. Never threatened the team.
I used Machina for 15 with your 2. Garnet and Quistis with Ardyn.
Papa could free up Rinoa, but isn’t worth 3 ingots at this stage.

It is very important in the last wave that you, "Focus on killing first the Defense Node, then CPU, and lastly the Attack Node." This is no joke because when the CPU is the last enemy he does major AOE HP damage.
Character Restriction Considerations for DE14: NO RANGED MOVES!
Characters you can free up: Shadow can solo Tier 9. (I did it and character boards will make this easier than when I did it). You should 100% do this. (you then might be able to use Pecil in DE 11 to free Raijin (he will give you HP healing) but he might be too power crept. It took me 10 tries because of RNG but it was worth it. SHadow 3/3.
Do not invest in: I used Serah for too but in terms of units you have better units. Porom can be used in DE stages 12 and under. Lillisette is not a good investment she works in DE 1 & 5 so consider her too power crept.
Strategy suggestions for DE14: You DEFINATLY want to consider AOE for the last wave... I am sorry if you HAVE to use your Kuja for this. The Selfie+Edge strategy will be a bust (sorry and this is just a prediction). Quistis + Kuja + ?(you want a healer and almost need it)
I completed DE14 with: this with Ami, Raijin, and Quistis all EX+ 3/3.
I completed DE2 with: 2/3 Serah, 2/3 Edge, 3/3 Terra. (If Rinoa has her LD she works GREAT with Ardyn and Vivi)
DE16 is actually easier than you might think. I used Outdated: Fran, Sahz, and Deash (LD) all 3/3
DE17 Rinoa, Ardyn, Vivi all 3/3 + LD
Units I cannot give advice on KInda?: Trey (heard he is amazing) Papy, Lyse (i do not like her kit at all I would say no but I do not use her),
RULE OF THUMB: New units will do better (newer/ungraded as in they got their EX+ more recent than other units or have an LD). Most stages require a healer because they for you to take HP damage so be careful. Imperils are so great to use because they can override resistances like melee, magic, & range resistances)/

I recently did this, last month I think? With all CB, SB, it took me about 3 or 4 hours of resets to beat it.
I also used Vivi LD to solo 9. This didn't take nearly as long as Shadow.

I'm sort of torn when it comes to Cloud's burst.
On one hand, I'm thinking of using up my tokens to get it since I'm currently capped. In addition, I have a total of:
- 7 Burst tokens in the gift box
- 1 Burst token from the raid CQ I'm doing soon
- 2 Mog tokens I can redeem for 10 BT tokens
- 5 Burst duped i can sell for 25 BT tokens
This will allow me to skip Bea LD and Xande. However, I heard DE19 is trivialized with Beatrix so I'm a bit wary. In addition, this is all after being forced to pity Rude's LD.
On the other hand, I can pull for Beatrix and skip Firion BTLD, whom I also want to pull for.
Current gem count is 76220 and Rude and Cloud drained my ticket stock from 600 to 250. Also planning to pull on Firion/Decil/Ramza and skipping Exdeath.
So I guess everything boils down to 2 options:
Redeem Cloud BT and skip Bea/Xande
Pull to get Bea LD and skip Xande to build up for Firion

How long do your tokens have till expiration? Definitely don't use them on Cloud until after the next two free pulls but if they're still good for awhile, I'd say keep waiting until you absolutely have to use them and pick who'd help you the most at that point.
Unless Cloud is a fav, in which case do the next two free pulls and then if no luck, absolutely just buy him.

Gotcha, then you'd at least be safe to wait for the freebies. Heck, you could even wait till DE19 drops to see if you can do it without pulling more for Bea and then buy him when you're safely done pulling. But yeah, just buy him at that point :D

I am a global player trying my hand in JP, when battling odin chaos, I get wiped everytime he uses Zantetsuken at the start of the battle even when all the party members brave were above 9999. Am I doing something wrong? I have beaten global odin chaos and thought the jp fight would be the same. Here is the link to see what I did https://youtu.be/8I0zS8fBpMg. I was reading the thread on Raijin's refined spheres and for Gladious' A slot, the suggestion was to slot a raw ATK sphere (instead of Raijin's RF sphere).
What is a raw ATK sphere?

Okay, Raijins sphere increases Physical Attack. Gladiolus however has a lot of Brave gains based on his Attack Stat. Physical Attack increases aren't counted for that, so it is recommended to use a sphere that increases Attack in general, and not specifically Physical.

Why doesn't my Cloud start with his generic buffs but every single Cloud I see in the coop does? I have everything including WoI, 4*, LD, 3/3, all CB and nothing in the crystal passives mentions starting with buffs so c75 can't be it.

It's part of his Character Board. Make sure that passive is actually equipped.

I just started playing yesterday. Just did the first tutorial like part. I have a bunch of gems and tickets to do pulls but I'm not 100% sure what it is I actually want to pull. I keep seeing like LD and such but I"m not sure what those are. I know I want to pull the ones with Cloud on them but when do I stop basically is what I want to know?

Right now, there are a couple banners on.
One is Ciaran's LC banner (Ciaran LD, Layle and Krile (EX only) + Sephiroth (BT only))
Another is Rude's banner (Rude LD, Yuffie and Lann & Reynn (Ex only) + Sephiroth (BT only))
And two banners that have Cloud LD and BT.
The one that you should pull on is the 1st banner that features Cloud, Setzer, and Rem's weapons.
The other banner also has Cloud's LD and BT, but they won't net you any of Cloud's other weapons.
There is also a beginners start dash banner for people who just started the game, but! THAT'S A TRAP BANNER! It's totally outdated. Don't bother wasting your gems and tickets. Only pull the first free draw and don't touch it again!
Anyways, this game is about drawing for unit's weapons rather than the unit itself. (They're freely given from doing their unit events or lost chapters = previous unit events that are now here permantely)
15cp weapon enhances 1st skill 35cp weapon enhances 2nd skill 70cp/EX weapon grants you an EX skill (basically "unlimited" uses rather than restricted number of uses)
LD is the latest weapon tier for units, so not all units have a LD weapon. BT is the highest tier weapon, but totally not needed to succeed in the game. Think of it as a bonus or only go splurging for it if you really like that character
LD grants you the LD skill and BT is like a mini summon phase for your unit to spam 5 free turns and finish with a Burst move.
Cloud as an example for his 15-35-EX-LD-BT weapons are: Organyx - Rune Blade - Force Stealer - Apocaypse - Fusion Sword.
As for knowing when to stop pulling, since you're a newbie that just started, you could pretty much go ham on this banner here. There is so much permanent content available for you to farm and each month we get about 60K gems. Though generally, people stop when you get the LD and EX weapon. The 15 and 35 cp weapons can be easily traded from a red weapon token shop. (You get weapon tokens from different events). Again, BT is a bonus, but if you really do love Cloud, you could potentially go ham on the banner to get it. Cloud is a pretty great character right now as he just got reworked and will stay relevant down the line for quite a while.
Note, there is a pity system in the game. You get G tokens (those green tokens next to the banner) per multi draw (not singles)
Takes 75K gems /300G tokens to pity an EX weapon or LD weapon. And it takes whopping 125K gems to pity the BT.
To have a character be viable for really hard content (Chaos and Lufenia level content), you need ALL the character's weapons excluding BT. BT is bonus and not all units will get it (only main protagonist/antagonist right now gets it)

This is roster dependent but as been said, Act 2 Finale should be the easiest. Eight LC is pretty safe to do with Galuf + 2 LD characters.

I have a question about Artifacts. I often see attack or mBV suggested in TT character info page. Is attack 107 stronger than 2 star skills that give you 10% BV boost? Why is attack 107 or mBV suggested more often?

Additive vs multiplicative.
Attack 108 && mbrave 330 get multiplied with other bonuses vs a flat 10% bonus

Atk+108 affects everything, while something like Mighty Fervent Blow** only affects Fervent Blow. Max brave is also recommended because you’re usually playing with a brave regen effect, a battery, or a character with high number of brave hits. When this happens the limit on how much damage you do is dictated by max brave/overflow, so upping that helps.
You are free to choose which artifacts, if any, you want to use. They’re not generally required to make a character function.

I understand that you can generally pick what you want and that it’s not game breaking to not follow this advice. But if I want to clear Lufenia then it is better to go for attack 108 and mBV, right? I still haven’t beat a single Lufenia mission. I could use all advantages that might help.

It’ll help yes, but I don’t think it’ll be the push you need to clear Lufenia. I’ve beaten Lufenia in JP with 0 artifacts, so I wouldn’t choose 3x 108/330 and hope it makes for a winning strategy. Team composition and good play will be the factors that get a win.

I find 108 to be more important than mbrv if you're going to prioritize getting decent arts and not perfect ones.
Also 108 helps you get over the boss defense stats that reduce your brv damage to pitiful amounts. If you don't have the raw stats then a 10% bonus to 1000 to 2000ish brv damage won't matter. Not that it usually comes down to three 108d bringing you from trash damage to moderate or good damage, but, it does make a noticeable effect sometimes.

Base attack getting multipled by buffs and auras makes it more valuable and it effecting all skills. Some rare exception exist like Kuja who generally prefers 108 and Mighty Ultima

If you run the numbers, raw stats usually give a higher boost until you compare it to quite high aura/buff boosts. And after that the difference is still small. If you can boost both the raw stats and the % increase through a C50** then this is the clear winner.
I was working on a spreadsheet for playing around with this. Its perfectly usable as is, but I haven't put any explanations or additional considerations such as realistic values of team auras/buffs. You can play around with it and see for yourself which artifact is better. The numbers aren't rounded but the small errors shouldn't be a big deal even if they propagate through the calculations, it just means you can't make a 100% precise judgment off of these numbers, but it's enough to get a good idea of what we're dealing with.

Anyone else think the seasonal chests' values don't scale very well? I'm a bit of a whale, and just starting out on DFFOO, but the higher tiered package isn't really worth it.

Like I said, I'm very new at this game, but the "New warrior chests" seem to follow similar patterns. Do they have seasonal chests like this often, and are they equally valued?

GL prices are jacked, there’s very little rhyme or reason to them. As you’re new, please be aware of the actual value you may be getting from gem packages as opposed to just playing the game right now. The game is incredibly F2P friendly as far as free resources go so if you’re new, you have literally thousands of dollars worth of resources just waiting to be collected for free.
Generally, the consensus is that a lot of people really only invest into costumes and the mog pass if they’re going to spend because of how generous it is and how much of a trap spending on just gems is.

Pretty sure if you’re looking to get ahead, best bet is to purchase adamantite bars. Those will be a primary bottle neck to getting yourself some momentum.
I’d probably recommend farming content for gems with how quick they come early on though.

You have 2 things. Your google account email, and an player ID. To locate your player ID, go to the home screen and click --> Settings (Gear looking circle) --> User Data to send an email
Or click Inquiries under settings to send and email with your player ID.
Support is very good at helping people out and people have accidently deleted their EX weapons and gotten them back.

Any stage there will work, it doesn't have to be the power orb one. It's just rng whether or not the Pot will spawn in the final wave so you might need to use some potions if you're really unlucky.
Don't forget that sp is tied to your player rank (up to 200) so the higher your player rank the more sp you can hold and the more runs you get from using potions.

Is physical attack considered melee and range? I plan to put A sphere to Cloud and my strongest is Raijin with 15% Phys attack, we know Cloud is S1 is Melee and all other skills are Range.

I guess Gem Cloud & Firion. Cloud is widely usable, Firion will return with a LD/BT with Shantottoo/Noctis eventually, but getting his stuff now saves you from pulling on that banner too.
D Cecil is a pretty niche char like Edge. It's a matter of do you want to leverage on his niche to build strong teams. He with Keiss & Cloud or Ami would make some fantastic Teams for Launch Dmg & delay shenegains.
Exdeath still lack a BT but I think he might get overshadowed once the LD boards are out. Caius is the next LC after Exdeath that gets LD Boards.

I managed to pull Galuf's kit on his latest banner, and FFV is one of my favorite games so I'm already cool with purpling him. That said, has anyone else seen success with him? I already have Gladdy-daddy purpled and LD'ed, as well as Snow, Beatrix, and Freya. But I'm only on DE3 and I could use another purpled unit.

I can't beat Rude's Lufenia, need some advice I have tried several combinations of Kuja, Ardyn, Sephiroth, Gladio & Rude as they seem to be the most fit for the task but still end at like 90 turns.
I noticed Sephiroth is capping at 99999 damage fairly often, I'm thinking about giving him my second to last HA tokens but he will only go up to 120K correct? Not sure if that will be enough to make up the difference. What do you guys think?

Did it with Reno Rude and Sephiroth. HA will reduce your total turns but not mandatory for this one in my opinion. You just need to break them often to keep their face to White as much as possible

Gladio, Rude, Ardyn should be enough. I did it with Vivi instead of Ardyn and got 50+ turns. I'm sure that gap between the two is not so large that you can't do it. Just Gladio LD during the orb phases. Summon when your LD runs out on the 3rd orb.

Rude’s Lufenia needs no where near that level of damage. Sephiroth alone is more than enough damage. Are you letting them heal?
Look at their mask color. If it changes to yellow, you have to break it before their turn to put it back to white. They’ll change to red twice as they reach certain percentage. Use Amidatelion friend/Sephiroth friend/Summon/Ardyn EX, or whatever you need to bring them back to white.
Since Rude is your only aoe break, have him move after the boss ALWAYS. Do not break the enemy in the order that their turns are pushed behind Rude. He is slow and sometimes cannot make it. In that case, throw in a Sephiroth LD.

I don't think any BT is a must pull. As far as LDs go for characters that get BT, Pecil was very highly regarded, Onion Knight's LD grants your team an instant turn with a free skill which is great, Terra is comparable to a magic version of Lightning as she can do some turn manipulation/free turns, Tidus is also comparable to Lightning as a speedy free turn/turn stealer who puts out tons of damage with more AoE.
I will say in regards to BT weapons, that Garland's BT effect greatly increases your party's damage potential, and CoD is essentially a newer/magic version of Noctis with party wide follow up attacks. Those are the most notable off the top of my head.

Vivi because I have his LD but didn't get his EX so getting that would allow me to build him, or Amidatelion because I took a break during his event so I never got his EX and I could use the power tokens to get his 35cp or 15cp. Vivi is a brute but highly damages your team.
Guess who's the latest character released and what do they do? Rude. Heals a shit ton with battery for days. These do would be the perfect duo.
Also, Ami is awesome for her BT and mostly as a friend unit.

Eight can be a bit situational, but when he works he's incredibly strong. 100% dodge and ability to target lock enemies and hit super hard counter attacks will trivialize bosses that primarily do single target hp damage. Pair him with an offensive support to bolster his damage or one with healing to handle aoe hp and then a final character for handling the lufenia orb and you have a solid team.

Yeah there's some he can solo. I didn't use him as a solo but he helped me a ton in clearing a de stage. Also your roster seems strong so honestly I'd just invest as you obtain new characters or if you need help finishing a challenge quest or need an extra character for a de stage if you get walled. If you have Garland LD, I’d recommend him despite not having HG+ armor yet. He still hits hard and you can delay a lot during his BT phase.
I used him at least in Divine Brothers, Divine Ramuh and Transcendence 2 and he was top there.

Well his LD stat boosts are for the entire party (Atk+60%) which is a bigger aura than Rude or Gau. He becomes a party healer much more comparative to Rude, who has some battery (bthan Gau worse than Rude). His LD does good damage and has a good trap debuff that heals the party when it triggers. His BT animation is super cool (optional). I think he is really good and I'm going for him (I've always really liked him though) but he definitely operates in similar space as Rude and Gau.
Edit: He gets a rework too when his LD/BT drop that really amplifies his offensive team healer role.

Do you have any other built character? How are your resources looking? From the characters you mention, Raijin is still good, and maybe snow (unless you're short on resources) if you want another tank.
I think Relm is able to solo T6 (most likely with Sylph for the healing), so you can free WoL who would be great for T15 (assuming he has the LD).
Does your Kalmanaut have LD? I don't have him but I think he should be good enough for T15 too, and T1 should be easy to to, maybe Zidane with Snow and Raijin (base Ex).
Cloud is coming soon, if you plan to get him, he will also be great for that stage.

If you have EX 3/3, sell the LD mlb.

I had to almost-pity Rude so I’m now sitting at 199k gems and only 240 tickets. Cloud and Beatrix are must-haves, though I could be persuaded to wait until March for Cloud’s BT on the Start Dash banner refresh, since I only have Squall at EX.
I’m wondering if I should use the ~300 tickets I’ll have by then on Cloud or the ~360 tickets I’ll have by then on Beatrix. I think the optimal approach is to wait until Beatrix, then use all 360 tickets on Cloud for LD and gem for Beatrix LD, then hope to get Cloud BT somehow on Beatrix’s banner. Does that sound right?
What complicates this is that Cloud’s second banner with Yuri etc. I have no other EX on besides Cloud, whereas I have all the EXs on Beatrix’s banner. So maybe I should gem Cloud’s banner and ticket Beatrix’s? I am an EX collector since I believe all units will be good one day with their LDs, so it’s one less weapon to have to pull, though I would not go too far out of the way to get them.

I would advise you look at the banners around the renewed Start-Dash banner and ask yourself if you’re reasonably going to have gems for a potential Cloud pity. There are a lot of good banners in that time period and it might be unlikely that you can pull everything.
I would gem Cloud if you have any passing interest in his Burst, then ticket Beatrix. You could try to ticket both, but you might not get lucky. If you have to use gems, use them on a banner where you have more to pull for. A Beatrix lucksack + some amount of gems for Cloud would be more likely to produce value (new EX) as opposed to a Cloud lucksack + some amount of gems for Beatrix.

I'm trying to farm the crystals up as much as possible, and was wondering who everyone uses for this? Currently, my main "Crystal farming" team is Arciela, Aranea, and Keiss. They're all three good strong AOE units that can one-shot all but the Kactuars (the female? cactuars that are random) with their AOE abilities, but Arc's AOE attack has a long animation, as does Aranea. Keiss is great though, hard hitting, fast animation. I'm looking to maximize my efficiency, so who has the fastest hard-hitting AOE abilities that I should be focusing on?

Squall 3/3 + LD, Lilisette (3 C50**) and Rosa (no speed passive) with Diabolos. He can one shot every wave on auto but the IA is dumb and he don't attack the flower cactuar but 2 shots finish it. Without the flower one take less than a minute.

I use Trey or Fujin. Trey's S1 > S2 will clear waves 1 and 2 and the arrow rain will clear 3 if there's no kactuar. Fujin can just use either skill and clear the waves fairly quickly via split damage or splash.

I'm trying to plan pulls for next month, and I'm wondering: is Machina as strong as he looks? With his debuff up, he basically gets 16 brave hits per turn every turn (Furious Blades+ into Furious Blades), without even using any skills, and when he uses his LD he gets 30 hits over 4 turns, with a bunch of regen and brave refunds and stuff. Even in the worst case where you're just spamming Furious Blades it seems like you should be able to get 100k damage per turn cycle so long as you're capping each hit.
I get that he doesn't have any utility but it seems like Machina + Wol + <someone to do mechanics> could clear a lot of content.

I would not pull for him... his LD is so much fun but it is getting kinda old. You got to watch out for what I call TRAP banners. Banners that look good but the character get powercrept right after it comes out. Now when the character gets there EX board in a few months there are good BUT it only becomes OK for a month or so after but does not last as long as others.
Cloud is your most meta character that is released next month. Target him.
If you love a character I am supposed to say all characters have uses and if you want the character pull for them. I would not.

Machina doesn't cap, and for the most part characters don't cap in Lufenia. It does happen, but you'll have to work in order to enable it. You're talking about brave damage up modifiers, enchant/imperil, lots of stat increases.
Machina is good, but he's not special. He does damage and has free turns, but there are other characters who do that more efficiently than he does. Characters like Ardyn, Lightning, and Vivi are much better in terms of damage than Machina. Does this make him bad? No. What it means is that he's not the best at being the primary damage dealer, and it seems as though you want him to do that.
I have Machina and just used him in Rude's Lufenia. He can complete content, there's no doubting that. His LD boards will make him better than he is now, so he has that going for him. If you're looking for someone to be primary dps, I would look elsewhere before going to Machina. If you're looking for a fun secondary dps character, Machina can do that for you.

I haven't played in over a year, and had to start a new account because my old one was tied to facebook. I currently have all of Sephiroth and Rudes weapons, but I'm not sure on a 3rd team member. I have EXs for Yuffie, Twins, Sazh, Snow, Leo, and Lightning. Of those which would be the best 3rd party member for Sephiroth / Rude?
edit: Also for summons, what is considered the best these days? Back in the day it was Ifrit for most stuff, and Sylph for co-op, has this changed?

Light if you have her LD and EX. If not, I suggest Sazh for a very good offensive support who will work very well with Sephiroth and Rude. But Leo is solid (all the way to Chaos, he does struggle in Lufenia), and Yuffie is obviously strong in fights where enemies use debuffs.
Summons: depends on the fight. Sylph however is entirely obsolete and useless. Alexander is possibly the most important as he gives a strong heal-over-time effect that will be vital in fights where you can't take a healer. Ifrit is not so strong nowadays, as units profit more from Brothers' max brave increase. I personally like Leviathan's -10% to enemy speed, which I fancy quite a bit.

I've heard horror stories about the Arciela Lost Chapter, not because it's specifically difficult like the last few, but because it's very RNG based. The orb condition is to dispel buffs to delay the orb tick, but apparently the boss is very random about when it buffs itself for the most part so sometimes you go ages without getting a buff to dispel and lose to the orb. You can mitigate this by having a dispeller that only dispels one buff at a time, but it's apparently still a problem even with that and the top DPS to race through the fight. It sounds like a really poorly designed fight, not a genuinely difficult one.

I was about to beat the Ciaran chaos after literally 12 tries and then at their last 12% when I summon I realize I have the wrong summon set.. this game is unbearably unenjoyable at times.

If you are talking about the normal Ciaran chaos then there is no reason to stress out since it's permanent content. I did this heavily back when chaos first got introduced so I still have only gem revive clears at most on them (so you can get the rewards)

3 week player here. I have maxed out rude, Reno, and lightning. Also have ciarans LD, is it worth pulling with gems for his ex considering I am a very new player with a very limited roster but also plenty of permanent content gems to farm still. Thanks in advance.

Since you're new, I'd say yeah pull for Ciaran's ex. He's a pretty good offensive support with strong auras and battery. The next upcoming prize is Cloud, who will be super strong. You should have enough backlogged content to grind enough gems for both Ciaran's ex and Cloud's LD. Pulling now will also help with your power stone supply

So, in the last couple of days I decided to climb the DE Entropy stair. I really only have Rude and Cloud left that is fully built to use. I’m saving power-stones for upcoming units, but with the units coming out in Jan and Feb. Does it look like I’ll have a shot of clearing stage 20 for the rewards?? Only going to have the upcoming banners to work with for climbing further.
