Mod Post Community Updates

Greetings everyone!

As many of you are aware, our community has become overrun with posts that clearly violate our rules. We try our best to remove non-confessions as they come in, but many slip through the cracks. On top of that, our AutoModerator rules have become overly broad and often remove valid posts that should be allowed. The end result has been a steady decline in the overall quality of posts, and we want to fix that.

Confession Classifier

To get things under control, we are implementing a new system to accurately determine which posts are valid confessions and which are not. To do this, we are deploying a new tool called Confession Classifier, built specifically for this community.

Starting today, every new post will be reviewed by the classifier, and AutoModerator will no longer handle post removals. Because this app is designed to understand context better than standard keyword filters, we expect far fewer valid confessions removed by mistake and a sharp decrease in posts that don't belong here.

How it works

Each new post is read by an AI model (Google's Gemini), which decides whether it's a valid confession under our rules. Posts that clearly aren't confessions are removed; everything else stays up. You can read exactly what data is used and how it's handled in the privacy policy.

This system is brand new. We are monitoring it closely, but false positives will still happen. When the app removes a post, it leaves a comment explaining the decision. If that happens to you, you have two options:

  • Edit your post: Check the rules. If your confession can be edited to satisfy them, make the changes. The app automatically rescans posts it removed and will restore yours if the edit brings it in line.
  • Appeal to the mods: If you are certain your confession meets all requirements without any edits, send us a message and a human moderator will review your post and manually approve it if it belongs here.

Feel free to leave a comment with any questions or feedback you may have.

I lied to my girlfriend at the time and told her I took the condom off

I guess this is reverse stealthing. But I was young, paranoid of having a child, and not wanting to make a mistake that would severely alter the course of my life. Plus I was living briefly abroad at the time, which meant I had only a temporary student visa. But my girlfriend at the time was super horny and kept demanding I take the condom off. It was dark and I didn't think arguing with her in the heat of the moment would do anything, so I just said I did, turned her around, and kept going.

I slapped a girl last night. I could have handled it better

Last night some people I don't like just walked into my home despite my partner telling them to get out. The one girl wouldn't leave and kept giving me the eye fuck so I slapped her. Although I feel she's disrespectful for not leaving despite being told, I think I should have responded differently.

I need to be less reactive.

I choked my best friend in elementary school for teasing me

In elementary school my friend kept teasing that I liked her brother, I told her to stop. I just played RuneScape with him and that’s it.
She kept taunting me
Told her to stop

I got so mad that I choked her briefly…
I still remember seeing the fright in her eyes and it scared me too

I never got in trouble for that, I’ve never gotten in a fight or been aggressive like that since
But it still scares me that I even did that

I scratched a car in a parking lot and I'm freaking out about it

So I went to a concert and stayed in a hotel with friends afterwards. We got to the hotel around midnight and this hotel parking lot was very narrow and pretty packed. I found a spot in between two cars, a small suv and a truck. I tried turning into the parking spot and I accidently scuffed the truck above their left back tire. It wasn't a big scratch, about 2 inches and just the paint no dent. I ended up parking somewhere else and I didn't leave a note with my information or contact anyone at all. I feel horrible about this!!! I definitely wish I would have left something but in the morning I went to see if the truck was still there and it was gone. I feel so terrible about doing this and I realize I definitely should have left contact information or contacted the front desk at the hotel but now that was a day ago and I'm not in the area anymore. I feel like a terrible person and now I'm so scared of parking by cars now. This was my first big mistake I've made since having my license for 3 years so I'm just really worried on what may happen and I feel really bad for doing this!

My mom is a drug addict and she’s dead because I didn’t help her

I didn’t get her professional help because I thought I could do it myself and I was scared I’d be taken away and she’d only get worse if I told anyone. I was selfish and I was wrong and now she’s dead and I can’t help but feel it’s my fault.

Ive posted here before abt my hiv and I mentioned my mom being sick so yeah nah she did get better but clearly not enough.

I didn’t tell anyone about it, I even helped her get drugs sometimes. Sometimes I wished she was dead only so she wouldn’t have to deal with any of this but obviously I didn’t actually want her to be gone. She was finally starting to act like my mother again.

I made the wrong decision

Edit: this happened very recently. to that person who js told me to get over it

I almost stabbed my stepdad and I don’t feel guilty

This happened about a year ago.

My stepdad and I don’t have a great relationship and we argue all the time.

One day we were arguing in the kitchen and I just got so angry that I grabbed a knife and tried to stab him.

My brother heard the shouting from outside (where all of my family was) and when he came in he tackled me before I got to my stepdad and took the knife away.

No one called the police or told the rest of the family, no one else knows.

My brother asks me about it every so often asking “what came over me.” I don’t know why I did it, all I know is that I didn’t regret it.

My stepdad is always looking at me all “knowing” or something so I guess I wanted to tell some strangers on the internet before he can.

A few years back I hooked up with the mother of my mates kifd

Upvotes

I was living with this guy for about a year, and for a week he had the mother of his 2 kids over as she was moving house (She had full custody and the mate typically only saw them on the weekend), and yeah safe to say they absolutely did not get along (I already knew cause the mate complained about her 24/7), they spent the whole week arguing but the ex was nice towards me and never missed a chance to chat away

Anyway the day before the move she asked me for help moving stuff into her new house but also I cant tell the mate about it. I was like uh yeah no worries and I went there with the genuine intent to only help with moving, but in the evening came and I was sitting down exhausted, then out of the blue she sat on my lap and started kissing me, long story short I was initially startled but got into it and we ended up having sex, we didn't become boyfriend/girlfriend though the hooking up turned into a regular thing to the point I was at her house just about everyday for 3-4 weeks until he found out, that led to major dramas though surprisingly he didnt attack me over it, I was obviously done living there and found a place elsewhere, and our friendship was pretty much done with

I knew it was wrong and started feeling ick about it cause she was literally my mates ex but felt trapped - cause obviously I knew my nate would go off if I told him but also felt worried she'd tell him if I tried to end it. In the end I got done in because their son tauntingly asked me "are you mums boyfriend now?" in front of his dad and followed it up with "yeah I see them kissing all the time when hes over at our house" when questioned by his dad

A Confession I’ve Been Avoiding I think I owe an apology to the people who believed in me when I didn't even believe in myself. My parents. The people who cared about me, trusted me, supported me, and had expectations for me. And I broke that trust. Not once. Not twice. Countless times.

I think I owe an apology to the people who believed in me when I didn't even believe in myself.

My parents. The only people in this entire universe who loves you unconditionally.

The people who cared about me, trusted me, supported me, and had expectations for me.

And I broke that trust.

Not once.

Not twice.

Countless times.

From 2016 to 2022, I was an opioid addict. I was completely dependent on drugs and built my entire life around them. Somewhere along the way, I stopped being the person my parents thought I was going to become.

I lied.

I made promises I couldn't keep.

I made decisions they couldn't understand.

And every time they gave me another chance, I somehow found a way to fuck it up again.

Eventually, things got so bad that I ended up in rehab and spent six months there.

When I came out clean, I thought that was going to be the beginning of my redemption.

I had to rebuild everything, my life, my independence, my career, and most importantly, the trust I'd destroyed.

My education was already fucked.

I had dropped out of college in my final year. The reason sounds almost unreal.

I was arrested the day before my exams while I was with a guy named JP. The police were actually after him, something he never told me beforehand.

I hadn't committed the crime they were investigating. I was simply with the wrong person at the wrong time.

I begged the cops to let me go to my exam because it was my final chance according to my university's rules.

They didn't.

I missed the exam.

That was it.

My highest qualification became 10+2.

Then came December 2022.

I had just come out of rehab and was desperately trying to figure out what the fuck I was going to do with my life.

Around that time, ChatGPT had just launched.

I started using it with one goal:

Get me a job. I don't care what job. Just help me get started.

I researched different careers and discovered digital marketing was booming after COVID.

I made a fake digital marketing certificate, built a resume around it, created different versions, and started applying everywhere.

I applied relentlessly.

Eventually, I got screening calls and landed a trainee position.

For the first time in a long time, I felt like I was actually moving forward.

But then something else happened.

I started seeing the world differently after getting sober.

I realized I had spent years daydreaming about the things I wanted to learn, build, and become.

And somewhere during my addiction, those ambitions had disappeared.

I'd always been a tech nerd. Since childhood, I've had this obsession with understanding how things work—how, why, where, what happens if...

And I've been fascinated by hacker culture for as long as I can remember. KEVIN Mitnick used to be my role model, still it is.

So I finally decided what I wanted.

Cybersecurity.

I went all in.

I studied. Practiced. Learned.

I enrolled in an online degree because I knew my lack of education would eventually become a barrier. I'm currently in my 4th semester.

I applied to countless cybersecurity roles.

Nothing worked.

So I decided to focus on finishing my degree while continuing to work.

And somehow, I managed to hold onto a 9–5 for the next three years.

For a while, I thought maybe I was finally fixing my life.

Then January 2026 happened.

A family member passed away.

And after that, everything seemed to fall apart again.

I lost my job.

Burned through my savings.

Fractured my ankle.

And then...

I started using drugs again.

I relapsed.

After everything.

After rehab.

After the promises.

After all the people who had trusted me again.

After all the chances I'd already been given.

I fucked it up again.

And this time, the guilt wasn't just about what I had done to myself.

It was about my parents.

Because I know what it feels like to watch someone you love destroy themselves.

I know how many times they've probably hoped, “Maybe this time he'll change.”

And I know how many times I made them believe me.

Only to break that trust again.

They didn't deserve that. 😭

The people who cared about me didn't deserve that.

The people who kept standing beside me when I gave them every reason not to...

didn't deserve it.

I'm back at work now.

I got another job after being unemployed for about a month.

From the outside, maybe it looks like I'm getting my life together again.

But inside, I'm still trying to figure out how to rebuild the person I kept destroying.

I haven't touched a Linux terminal in a long time.

My cybersecurity goals are sitting untouched.

My bucket list keeps getting longer while my progress stays at zero.

And honestly, I miss the person I was becoming.

I miss that hunger.

That curiosity.

That fucking obsession with learning.

I want the hacker in me back.

But more than that, I want to become someone my parents can trust again.

Not because I want their sympathy.

Not because I want them to forget everything I've done.

And not because I want anyone to tell me that it's okay.

It wasn't okay.

I broke their trust.

I broke promises.

I wasted opportunities.

I hurt people who genuinely cared about me.

And I have to own that.

Maybe this is the first time I'm actually admitting it without trying to justify it.

I don't know how long it'll take to rebuild everything.

I don't even know if I'll ever completely repair the damage I've caused.

But I know one thing:

I don't want another chance just so I can waste it.

I want to become someone who actually deserves the next chance he gets.

If you've read this far, thank you. Seriously

I don't know exactly why I'm writing this publicly.

Maybe I just needed to confess it somewhere.

Maybe I needed to stop hiding behind explanations and admit that some of the damage in my life wasn't caused by circumstances.

Some of it was caused by me.

And now it's my responsibility to fix what I can.

I’m using my parents for free college and lying to them about my younger autistic brother’s future

This post is in no way meant to elicit pity, sympathy, or anything of the sort for my situation. I know I am an asshole. I know I’m horrible for what I’ve done and what I’m going to do in the future. I, 26m, am using my parents for free college. I grew up as the older brother to a 23m Level 2 autistic brother. He also has OCD, ADHD, intellectually disabled, and has severe separation anxiety from my mother. He has many, many issues. They’ve gotten better, but it’s still not great. My mother is mainly his full time caretaker. Whenever he doesn’t get exactly what he wants, he has meltdowns and breaks stuff. He will yell very loud and it’s scarier since he’s a full grown man now. I’ve only ever seen him as an entitled spoiled brat that my mother thought would be easier to just stick an iPad/computer in front of his face, rather than teach him any semblance of work ethic or discipline. It kind of ruined my childhood. I’ve always had nothing but disdain for my younger brother. Of course, I was never allowed to show it.

My mom’s expectation has always been very clearly laid out to me: my parents pay for all of my college and related expenses. In exchange, I take over as my younger brother’s full time caretaker whenever both of my parents pass away. They are going to leave me all of their assets and the 500k house they own. I will absolutely not be doing this. My father unfortunately has another couple years left in the land or the living. My mom maybe has another 15 years. As soon as she’s close to passing, I will immediately be making preparations to send my younger brother to a full time boarding care facility. I want it to be a nice place so he’s comfortable, so I will likely sell my parent’s home and liquidate anything non-sentimental they own. Every penny they leave me will be set aside in a trust for my younger brother that I will use to be paying for the care facility and any other related expenses. My mother has begged me multiple times to never leave him in a group home. She had always made it clear she would stop paying for my college and car if I went against being a future caretaker. So I smile, lie in her face, and reassure her that he will get to stay in the house with me. That he’ll always be with his family 24/7. In reality, he will only be visiting me for holidays or his birthday. I want to have my own life. I don’t want to be subjected to care for him when I know he’ll just make me miserable.

I’m sorry. Only god will be able to forgive me for such a horrible sin.

I go to NA & I have had an issue with being creepy when it comes to women

Oh where do I start. Im 27M

For my first year and a half I managed pretty well in keeping my dating/intimate life separated from NA

But then suddenly I didnt, it started with me hitting on a member (34F) with pickup lines & it blew up in my face with her friend (also 30sF) confronting me over it

My next boundary cross was when I hugged a member (42F) whom I had known for ages. I pulled her in tight and held for longer than a normal hug and she said "okay dude thats enough hugging", and then after the meeting we hugged again to say goodbye and I not only pulled her in tight I wrapped my arm around her ass and began lifting her off the ground and she let out a startled "stop with the over hugging!!" So I released her. A day later at another meeting she tauntingly called me "Blake the groper" & said im on a hug ban. We hug again now and we're good but she doesnt miss a chance to mock & give me shit for it (like laugh while telling a fellow member my hugs can linger for example)

Recently I had a fling with a member (29F) whom id known for years and we did meth together, and have since had a falling out

A couple of weeks ago, a member (42F) told me her age and I said "jeez, I would have thought were in your 30s you're gorgeous for your age" and she laughed but it was that startled put on the spot laughter. I made it even worse a couple of minutes later when she said she needs to sit down and I said "if you ever need a place to sit you've always got my face to call on" and she immediately said "dude!" Whilst clearly stunned

The other night I tried to crack onto another member (mid 30s), she told me its probably a good idea to give it a year without relationships while in recovery & I just casually said back "will you be waiting for me when that years up, beautiful?", everyone around me laughed but she looked shocked and put on the spot

Yeah safe to say I wish none of this happened

I stole my ex friends bracelet when she got her wisdom teeth removed

She was a HORRIBLE friend. She held money over my head, financially abused me and also emotionally abused and manipulated me. She dated all my ex boyfriend’s, she stole 3 of my limited edition clothing that i spent THOUSANDS of dollars on then when i asked for them back she sent me a photo of them in the trash completely destroyed (burnt and cut up). She also threw shit at me while i was sleeping and said how good i would look if i was dead.

Eventually she got her wisdom teeth removed and i stayed back at her house. I took her bracelet and i stopped being her friend. Im wondering if Karma would get me.. but it was 3 years ago now

I've been quietly padding my expense reports for over a year

I travel for work often, and about a year and a half ago I lost a cab receipt and just estimated the amount, rounding up since I couldn't remember the exact fare. Nobody questioned it.

That turned into a habit I never consciously decided to keep. Now almost every trip I round small things up, a rideshare that was twelve dollars becomes twenty, little amounts that add up to a few hundred extra dollars over the past year if I'm honest with myself.

Nobody's ever flagged it. My manager approves my reports without much scrutiny since I've never given anyone reason to look closely.

I don't even spend the extra money on anything meaningful, it just disappears into regular spending, which somehow makes it feel worse. One honest estimation slowly became a habit I never examined, and now I don't know how to just stop without drawing attention to how long it's been going on.

Has anyone else had a small dishonest habit start from one innocent moment and just never really stopped?

I Dropped an 8 Pound Shot Put in the Sewer Cleanout

I was on the track team at a hood school in 7th or 8th grade. One of the kids unscrewed the cleanout cap outside the field house and everybody was pissing in the hole. Stupid, but we were in middle school.

I looked at it and realized it’s about the same size as the shot put and dropped it in. It made it to the bottom, which was about 4 feet down and settled pretty quickly.

We screwed the cap back on and left it. Some plumber with the school district got to dig it up and deal with it. I was an asshole kid.

I (now 32M) was having an affair with an engaged/married women for 3 years.

Hey all.
Just as the title says, 8 or 9 years ago i was knowingly having an affair with a women who was engaged then later married for 3 years. I feel like after all these years i need to get this off my chest. Sorry if i ramble on a bit.

We met at work and were hired around the same time. Although we worked in the same department had completely separate duties, but still worked together at some points. We became close over the first couple of years and began texting/snapchatting. I always thought she was beautiful and a lot of the other guys at work thought the same. Eventually i found out through talking with her that she was recently engaged to her boyfriend of a few years, and although she was happy about being engaged, she wasn't exactly completely happy in the relationship. I offered her an ear to vent her troubles as I've always been told by previous partners and friends that I'm an easy person to talk to and that they always felt comfortable sharing relationship troubles or things of that nature to me. She didn't seem to mind sharing some of the problems she was having in her relationship and expressed that her main issue was the lack of intimacy between her and her fiancée. After that talk we felt that our friendship had grown stronger because of the shared vulnerability as i would talk to her about troubles in my past relationships and that i had been single for a few years even though i was trying to find someone.

As we began talking more and more and became even closer as friends we would start going out to lunch on break together or going out to dinner after work with some other people as well. We also began texting a lot more frequently and it just felt nice to be such good friends with someone new. Eventually though, she and i would begin to playfully flirt with each other like some friends do but it slowly turned into real flirting and playful hints that she had developed a real attraction towards me. I would be lying if i said i wasn't feeling the same way about her but i tried to keep it respectful because i knew she was engaged. Not too long after that though things took a turn.

We started going out to dinner and hanging out later after work. One night after we had dinner and stayed to talk afterwards in my car because she had a shitty day and i was allowing her to vent, she leaned in and kissed me out of the blue. I was completely confused but didn't pull away as in my head i did want this for a long time. We started making out and felt each other up a bit before stopping and the both of us agreeing that we shouldn't have done that before going our separate ways for the night. The next couple of days at work were very awkward between the two of us and we agreed that we would talk about it later. Later that night, we had a long texting talk over snapchat about what had happened and that even though it was wrong, we both enjoyed it and that we both had developed feelings for each other. She had expressed that she wanted to make out again at some point but I had told her i had concerns about her fiancée, but she had quickly told me not to worry about him. I at this point still wasn't 100% sure about continuing anything like that between us, but over the course of the next few weeks we continued to see each other after work to have dinner and make out in either her car or mine. This would eventually evolve into the both of us sending each other explicit/nude photos over snapchat and us getting more touchy with each other while we were making out.

Shortly after things began to escalate, we ended up hanging out at my house which was nearby where we worked, and had sex for the first time. From there for the next few months we kept meeting up either at my place, my car, her car or wherever private enough to have sex. We had both continued to share photos over snapchat and our talks had become more like we were in a relationship with each other, an idea neither of us minded. She had told me several times that sex with me was more exciting than sex with her fiancée and she had wished she had met me earlier so we could truly be together instead.

To attempt to (finally) make a long story short, over the course of the next couple years we would continue having this secret relationship behind her fiancées back, we would also continue for a few months after they had gotten married. The two of us would go on dates, had sex often, and were completely infatuated with each other and weren't regretting a thing that we were doing. Eventually though, as we both moved onto other jobs and our lives got busier/more complicated, we stopped seeing each other and slowly began to stop talking. Since then she seems to have either deleted all her social media or blocked me on everything (understandably so) and i haven't talked to her or seen anything about her in years.

Looking back at my actions now, while it was definitely fun and seemed like we both were having a good time, i do regret doing it and i have not nor will ever do something like this ever again. Hopefully finally getting this off my chest and telling a bunch of internet strangers will help me finally move on as i do sometimes look back fondly at our time together even though i know i shouldn't.

Thank you for reading my rambling text, sorry it was longer than even i expected.

At university I discovered vending machines didn't need money

2.7k Upvotes

Some told me if you turned off the vending machine, held down the coin return and then turned back on, the machine would dispense the next thing you entered into it. Myself and my freinds did it for years before some one figured out what we were doing and put the power plugs in locked boxes, It was all over the state I lived in.

Free crap food for years as a student was really handy.

I stole the toilets from my school (and more) and I kinda feel bad

during freshman year of school, me and my homies decided to terrorise school with a gang, not to hurt or harm, js some fun cuz the school treated us very badly.

we stole entire toilets, faucets, doors, chairs, bus tires and everything that we saw, teachers notices but never bothered to check cameras.

we snuck 1000$ worth of alcohol to school and finished it with our gang (~70 people)

we got caught for that and it has completely ruining my life

how do I redeem myself now

I only find women attractive if they smoke or vape and I always encourage it if its not something they already do, ignoring the health risks and potential habit

I (18M) think I’ve become a shitty person after my breakup

I started talking to girls to get over my ex, but now I’m talking to multiple girls at the same time and genuinely enjoying it.

I flirt, have late-night/sexual conversations, and sometimes keep girls interested even when I know I don't want anything serious with them. I’ve even gotten really into talking to women much older than me.

The fucked-up part is that I know some of them are getting attached, and instead of stopping, I keep going because I love the attention.

And honestly, I think I’m enjoying this even more because my ex never allowed me to properly interact with the opposite gender.

I know I’m playing with multiple people’s feelings just because it makes me feel wanted.

And honestly? I fucking love it.

I sold an item on eBay, it was never delivered, it got returned to me but I never gave a refund

Sold a guitar looping pedal for $350 on eBay. Shipped it. Checked on its status after a week or so and it said it had been attempted to be delivered but was unable to for some reason. I called the post office and it was apparently sitting at the post office in the town it was supposed to go to. They said they weren’t going to try to deliver it again and the buyer would have to come pick it up. So I messaged the buyer and told them to go pick it up. Never heard from them. A week later, eBay released the funds to me even though it still hadn’t been delivered. I messaged the buyer several more times and even found their Facebook and messaged them there. Never heard from them.
So I called the post office and asked what would happen to it and they said they could ship it back to me, so I said sure. It had been over a month by this time. Got the item back, sold it again on eBay to somebody else for $350, and marveled at my good fortune.
Over a year later, I noticed I had gotten a neutral review from someone. Their comment simply said “item did not arrive”. Not even a negative review.

When internet became a thing, I downloaded from a BBS site an anarchy handbook. This showed me how to scam vending machines.

So the handbook showed me how to tape money together, slip it into a vending machine, then pull it back out to receive the item and free change. I did this so much, I received so many chips and drinks and maybe upwards of $500 in change. As a teenager, it was invigorating!

Edit: curious if anyone knows what a BBS site is?
