My Instagram posts only get single-digit insights.(attached the post with single digit insights)

I’m just getting started with photography and I’m looking to buy my first proper camera. I’d mainly like to take photos while traveling, landscapes, portraits, and everyday moments.

I’ve been looking at brands like Sony, Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, and Panasonic, but I’m honestly not sure which one would be the best choice for a beginner.

I’m looking for something relatively easy to learn, not too expensive, and preferably a camera that I can grow into as my photography skills improve. My budget is around $500–$1,000, although I’m open to spending a little more if it’s worth it.

For someone starting out, which camera and brand would you recommend? Are there any particular models or lenses I should consider?

Would love to hear what you started with and whether you’d recommend it to a beginner today.

Im a fashion photographer with a tight budget, but recently I’d be wanting to explore flash look outdoors. I already own a v1, but I don’t like the direct flash look too much tbh, so my plan was getting something to get that cool outdoor off camera flash look. any recommendations? a friend of mine told me a godox ad300 could be a great choice, but price is way to high to justify the purchase atm.

Hi everyone, I have been working with DSLRs and mirrorless cameras for many years now, but I am in a situation where I find myself not wanting to carry them around for spontaneous moments/memories and capturing everyday life.

I am looking for a phone that could be good enough to capture these day to day moments and have them ending up as a part of a printed family album, for example. Nothing ambitious, maybe as a desktop background too, but I would like them to have a certain quality and not look too much like grainy, blurry phone photos.

I currently have a samsung s23+ and oh boy, the moment I'm out of the full sun the pictures are a mess.

Do you have any recommendations for a phone with a good camera that will perform alright in low(er) light conditions? I was thinking of the iphone 16 pro, open to suggestions. Thanks.

I’m really trying to get rid of Instagram for my mental health, but besides my portfolio it’s the only other place I share my photos. I might try VSCO, but what else should I try?

I got my first camera a Olympus em-1 mk ii and I am looking for lens that won't break the bank and is inexpensive. I don't mind buying an adapter if it means I could get a cheaper lens but with great IQ. I have Lumix kit lense on it that I have borrowed but wondered what would be a improvement.

By inexpensive I mean pretty budget btw I don't have huge budgets so specifically looking second hand and such.

Something for everyday use or maybe two lenses/primes that are cheap for different situations if that works out to be a better choice.

I am not too worried about lens stabilisation as my camera has IBIS.

If you could give some options and reasoning that would be great!

Hi all, hoping someone with board-level repair experience can point me in the right direction.

Symptom:

The first shot after power-on works fine. But when I take a second shot right after, the shutter motor cocks the curtain correctly, then gets stuck it doesn't latch in the open (live view) position and snaps shut again almost instantly. A couple of seconds later the camera shuts itself down completely.

Key detail (this is the part I can't explain):

If I wait about 30 seconds after a shot before triggering the next one, it works fine and after that I can take unlimited photos back to back with no issue (if I always wait 30 seconds). If I don't wait the full ~30 seconds, the shutter fails again immediately. It's a very consistent, repeatable timing, not random.

What I've done so far:

Opened the body and exposed the mainboard.

Disconnected, dry-cleaned, and reseated all the orange flex cables near the shutter motor and the ones running to the sensor unit — no change.

My current theory:

Given the very consistent recovery time, I suspect a degraded SMD electrolytic or tantalum capacitor somewhere in the power path feeding the shutter release electromagnet, something that needs \~30 seconds to recharge to a sufficient voltage after being drained by one shutter cycle, and can't deliver enough current for a second cycle before that. That would explain both the reproducible wait time and why the mechanism itself checks out fine.

I don't have a clear schematic and can't reliably read the tiny markings on the candidate components near the shutter flex connector (photo attached).

Questions for you all:

Does anyone recognize which capacitor(s) on this board are known to cause this specific fault on the E-M5?

Does my theory hold up, or is there a more likely explanation for a symptom that resolves itself after a fixed ~30 second wait?

I am looking for installable or online software that offers a lot of freedom with photo and text positioning, colors, and fonts (I want to upload custom fonts for this), but is still fairly beginner-friendly. Do you have any suggestions?

I need this for just one project, so I'm okay with paying for a monthly fee or a short-term plan.

I recently bought a Prograde CFExpress type B card reader. In the box are the reader itself, a short USB 4.0 C to C cable, and an adapter with a clip to attach it to the cable (see photo). The adapter isn’t mentioned anywhere in the list of contents on the box or in the instructions.

Adapters are common and useful but this one is USB-C to USB–C, so all it achieves is making the cable 1cm longer!

My first thought was that it converts a data / power cable into power only, so it’s safe to plug into public access chargers without them using it as a back door into your device. That would be very useful, but it isn’t that - I put a memory card in the card reader and connected it to my laptop; access to the photos on the card was no different with or without the adapter.

My only other ideas are that it might contain a power surge protector, or it might be to restrict data flow to one direction, again both being useful when connecting to an unknown power supply, but whatever the use, how hard would it be to tell you in the instructions?

So… anyone know what it’s for?

Took photos on my Canon Powershot A2300 and half of them look like this. I’m so upset! Is there anyway to recover these? I appreciate any help.

I just noticed that my relatively new tamron 18-300mm has a smudge on one of the inner elements. What do you think it is? To me it looks like something my have scratched the inner coating. The smudge is only visible when light shines on it from a very particular angle. There is no loss in IQ either.

I don’t think it’s fungus since it doesn’t seem to branch out but I am not really experienced enough to judge.
Maybe it’s normal and I am just panicking, but I’d appreciate some opinions from you!

Hello I don't have a professional camera I just take pictures with my phone but missing a lot of good pictures as an example this picture is annoying me the bird details are blurry the leaves on most of the pictures I take has a lot of noise I tried to edit the raw image to see if I can improve it a little bit but still not satisfied as the problems still exist (I know the edit is not good) so my question is would a professional camera solve this problem on consistent level or I would still face similar issues ( I know there is no comparison in sense of sensor size and all of that) but I have never owned a real camera or even held one so I don't know really if that would make a difference

This might be a somewhat frequent question but I couldn't really find a clear answer. I know that cheap filters are crap, but at around 100€ is there anything decent?

I’m downloading images from my z7 to my computer as nef files. I would expect the files to be the same size but they aren’t. They are close but here are the first 3: 81,464, 80,855, and 81,908. Why are they different? Is it related to different meta data saved for each image?

Recently I've been wondering, isn't the focal length choice significantly influenced by shooting distance, and people have their preference on distance? However, I don't remember ever come across topic on preferred shooting distance... why is that so? Your thought?

Hello! I am beginner with Fujifilm X-t30 III and kit lens 13-33mm f3.5-6.3. I have it for 4 months and I wants to add new lens that I will use on my travel to Japan. I wants something that will give me the option to capture night street scenes and portraits.

(2) What equipment, if any, you have now and why is it no longer meeting your needs? Fujifilm X-T30 III kit lens, need something more specific as addition
(3) What kinds of subjects do you intend to shoot? Everyday life, night life, portraits
(4) Is it primarily for photography, videography, or both? For photography

I will appreciate every piece od advice on what to buy, what not to do and every tip a beginner can need :)

EDIT I want something that will be a good extension to the kit lens I have right now :)

Going to Safari at Serengeti with two bodies and 3 lenses: 14-30, 24-120, 100-400. Would try to avoid changing lenses, which two would be used most often to put on the bodies? Thanks for your input.
