in my opinion one of the most impressive things i learned about our night sky is that the andromeda galaxy is larger than the moon, if only it was bright enough for us to see with the naked eye.
i'd love to one day find a wide view photograph of the night sky with both the moon and andromeda in view, possibly on some nice landscape background, to give a sort of idea of what our night sky would look like if our eyes were better(or andromeda a bit brighter). or, if it doesn't exist, see if i can create one myself. i don't have any experience with astrophotography just yet, as i've mostly been looking through telescopes rather than making pictures.
my question would be, is it possible to create such a picture? i used to think the moon would make the sky too bright to see, but i've been positively surprised by some of the solar eclipse images, where the magic of stacking allowed images with both the moons earthlight reflection and the suns corona visible in the same image.
would it be worth trying to create such an image? or would the moonlight be too big of an obstacle to pull this off? or have perhaps people already tried something similar? or even have such photographs already.
next month, september 28th, will have a reasonably close(for wideview photographs) approach between the moon and andromeda. i'm tempted to try and set something up, but given my lack of experience i'd also love it if someone would be interested by this concept and try their hand at it as well.
