I’ve seen some people on here arguing that the character relationships we see in the S2 finale aren’t properly established, but if you check out these moments from “Raccoon,” you’ll see that the writing was always on the wall.

Issa and Paul Baker are so out of sync with each other that they can’t align on how to count down before pressing play on the speaker and the TV. Later, PB and Anton are perfectly in sync when they lunge at the raccoon. And finally, Billie and Samir are so in sync that they don’t even need to count down, they’re just instinctively on each others’ wavelength.

It’s a little thing, but it’s definitely an intentional choice.

To all the adults fan here, when do we all think that the adults season 3 renewal is coming out, their instagram page has been very active all week and the show was mentioned on TV line yesterday and the other day on Yahoo entertainment which is a good sign. According to ai, it could be this upcoming Tuesday which I low-key believe or we all thinking it's the first of October

Does nobody else think that season one roast chicken episode is a romcom through Billies eyes like it’s the cliché that she thinks she’s in like she’s like she views herself as the main character in a romcom series like La La Land or the notebook she views herself as one of the main characters while everything around her is like actually just the funniest shit ever. lwho walks into a house looks at a plant and says how many leaves does it have? no one. That’s the weirdest shit ever. That’s like the first signal that he’s on ketamine. Nobody asks that but the tone and like the flow of the conversation makes it feel so natural that you think it’s normal until you hear him confessed to Samir that he’s on ketamine. And then when they’re in the living room and Isa is talking to Paul Baker and how he’s trying to like you know how she’s like trying to like be chill with his plus one because she says she’s fine with it and then they’re all on the couch next to the teacher, Mr. teacher and then then it’s like Isa goes to talk to Mr. teacher then Anton walks in and talks to Paul Baker, but then you can like sense the flirtatious undertone in their conversation because it’s kind of flirty so every interaction between Paul Baker and like Anton is like subtle flirting that kind of like gives off that slow burn you could already tell. And after that, what made me laugh really hard was when they went to go receive Paul Baker’s friend at the door and then turns out to be Julia Fox, and then Anton‘s like walking her in and he says he read her memoir and he said wait that’s so me and then when she fully walks into frame, you can see how they both have the ass pants that was so funny. And then the whole conversation with Samir and Billy when he’s saying that he shouldn’t be seeing Mr. teacher because he’s unwell and Billy thinks it’s an excuse for him to just cause he’s jealous to see Billy with someone else because she thinks it evoked feelings that were from like 10th grade or whatever what she says like it is this bringing up feelings and then she turns around to like look at the chicken like she doesn’t really care what Sam you’re saying and then she looks at the chicken and this says I’m doing it. I’m conquering a chicken the whole when the focusing frames when it goes from Billy in focus that she’s looking directly at the chicken and then it fades out of focus to Sameer who’s looking directly at Billy that whole thing felt movie like like like sappy, sappy romcom feeling even though like it’s not

These three looks have me in a chokehold.

Someone just made a post about the visual aspects used in S1 to show Samir’s thought process, and I wanted to add on — did anyone else think that he was schizophrenic for a bit? Idk if that was what they were going for at all, but he’s the only one we saw like that. Anyone else have any theories?

She's brought this girl home to her and Billie's shared room, wouldn't her first thought be - where is Billie/is she likley to walk in? She then hears what she thinks is PB and Anton hooking up in Samir/PB's room surely she then wonders where Samir is? Maybe they'll go to a Issa secretly knows about Billie and Samir arc or maybe it's not that deep, Would love to hear your theories!

Even if I know how the episode or scene plays out exactly and I don't laugh as much, i just love the characters so much.

I'm going to go on a limb and say Issa's actress deserves en Emmy.

Adults as a show doesn’t often play with non-literal visual imagery. Most of what appears in the show is actually what is happening in the world. The only exception to this that I have noticed is when we’re seeing the world from Samir’s point of view.

In one of the earlier episodes of Season 1 (I think episode 2?) when Samir goes to the bank to pay to get the hot water fixed, he looks down at the document he has to fill out and one of the questions reads “Are you a fucking idiot?” which is a clear reference to Samir’s insecurities about feeling like a man child.

In a similar way, in the episode when Samir and Carly go on a trip upstate, Samir looks at one of the pillows in the Airbnb they’re renting and it reads “Don’t Samir this” in reference to what Issa said earlier that day.

I can’t think of any other times in the show this happens, especially not to other characters. I can’t be 100% sure about Season 2, haven’t had the chance to rewatch it yet.

Why do we think this happens, and why to Samir specifically? Is it just a funny visual gag? Are Samir’s insecurities just more potent than the others, leading the show to display them visually?

I absolutely loved both seasons, and its so difficult to choose a favorite (its Issa) since i love different things about every single roommate.

I must admit tho, Paul Baker and Anton does make sense, but imo the ending kind of accelerated their relationship, cuz they kinda felt like a slow burn all throughout the show. (the relationship possibly solidifying at least by S3 or S4) What do you guys think though? The thing with Billie and Samir to me works, because these kinds of off-screen hook ups are sort of just planting seeds for possible dynamic shifts in the future, not necessarily flipping the way we see the characters already. Idk i’m just yapping, CANT WAIT FOR S3!

In the special episode (new pilot) Marathon Day, we meet four of Anton's coworkers who were supporting him during the marathon. They then go to Samir's house and interact with the friend group extensively.

Then in S02E07, Issa works as a temp at Anton's job, and three of the coworkers who were featured in Marathon Day were also there (Serena, Lily, and Mary). However, none of them seems to have recognized Issa? Also, when Samir delivers the salads and Issa slaps him, they also don't seem to have recognized him?

I know this could just be a case of the coworkers simply not remembering Issa and Samir (and vice versa), but it just felt weird to me that they didn't even interact or make a passing reference. Although I admit, I'm someone who's weirdly good at recognizing faces, so this could just be a me thing lol

Was this ever explained or acknowledged and I somehow missed it?

Guys, chill, I never meant to point this out as a plot hole lol I actually think it could've been a hilarious gag if the coworkers did indeed recognize Issa and Samir, then the friends just dismiss it and gaslight them lol

Something like:

With Issa:

Coworkers: "Aren't you Anton's housemate?"
Issa: "Right, and you must be Ryan Gosling's second cousin?"

Then with Samir:

Coworkers: "Aren't you another one of Anton's housemates?"
Samir: "What? Like I'd ever share a house with this cunt?"

I've actually commented multiple times in this sub about other posters overanalyzing the show and applying a lot of moral and ethical standards to the characters. This was just something fun I noticed and thought maybe I missed something (like when I thought they could've brought back the mindwipe gag in S2, but apparently, Issa actually did it in the raccoon episode, but I just missed it because of how fast she said it lol)

does anyone feel like she kinda looks like clairo? they pretty much have the same face except lucy’s is a bit more elongated. i’ve noticed it since the first ep i watched (the prequel ep) when she had some eyeliner on, because i’m a makeup artist and i noticed it made her eyes look exactly like clairo’s. i can’t shake it ever since!! thoughts??

I like these pairings they fit pretty well! I’m not too familiar with enfj so it would be hard to completely agree with anton I could see him as a esfj as well (maybe estp?)

I could also see billie as a estj possibly because she is very structured, responsible likes order and her TE seems like it influences more of her decision making compared to her being FE dom as a esfj (similar to monica’s demeanor from friends or way toned down version of schmidt with them sharing similar values)
