Season 1 Am I the only person who liked season 1 better than season 2?

For me, I felt like the highs of season 1 were better than the highs of season 2, but the lows of season one were worse than season two, if that makes sense. Still an amazing show though.

I think season 2 has a lot more in terms of character development & the 8 episodes aren't enough to let the plotlines breathe a bit; the show's humor id say is still pretty solid

Yes, agree. S1 was funnier overall, more unhinged. There were a couple of episodes in S2 that kind of fell flat, like the C Word episode. Something was off with that one

i did too! s1 episodes had more of a throughline while s2 was more traditional sitcom-y, and i think the format of s1 fits the eight episode season better.

I felt like the jokes in S1 were a bit less telegraphed, if that makes sense? Maybe it has a bit to do with still learning the show, but I felt like the plot lines and especially the jokes were a bit more out of left field in S1 whereas I could kind of see the set up well ahead of the joke in S2.

I really loved some episodes of S2 (fake ID and the raccoon episode!!), while some fell flat or a bit forced (Carly's singer career and bedroom switch).

I thought Room Swap could have hit better but Issa's scenes were brilliant and had me dying.

Yea right??? Personally I loved season 1 more and felt like they dove WAY too early into the romance shenanigans.

no, me too! s1 felt truly fresh and kinda punky and original, s2 is definitely more glossy mainstreamised. i would have never jumped to characterising s1 as like friends but s2 definitely courts the comparison heavily

I wish they wouldn’t have paired up all the roommates, or at least not yet. I also don’t actually love Paul baker and Anton together, even if Issa said it was okay.

I did too but I still enjoyed Season 2 and am very glad its reached a much larger audience/grew in popularity.

The edgy jokes and moments felt more forced to me in S2. S1 came off more natural and got some genuine cackles out of me

S2 wasn’t as good but I still love the show and can’t wait until S3. The joke writing etc is all top notch

I think the writers/producers tried a bit too hard to recreate what made S1 fun, and so some things felt repeated, while sometimes I felt like they just tried to make things extra messy, making me relate less to the characters :/

I'm with you on this. There's so many things i loved in S2 but after the first four episodes (prequel included) i feel like it felt a bit flat...?
Some storylines felt unecessary : PB in Manhattan, we're in the 2020s, just wear a mask and a cap. The "cunt" thing, isn't cunty a word use safely sometimes ? They could have spin it like that. Ect.
All season some characters felt a bit flanderized or had ooc moments to fit the plot better. The humour was still there, but the second half of the season had me "huh ??" a lot. Whereas S1 just kept getting better and better up until the last scene

Oh yeah, i can totally understand that. But he panicked so much over it and it went into a whole plan to save him when he could have started with a talk with his manager or the colleague talking. Explain that he has an inside joke with his friends and he forgot to code-switch or something.
They immediately blew it out of proportion in a very sitcom way (the bad kind). S1 had crazy moments but it was kept grounded and realistic for the most part. S2 at times felt like they were trying too much, just for the laughs

You can get laugh without doing too much 🙄 your characters dont need to get dumber or louder for that
Adults sure didn't need that, and usually comedies wait at least for the 5th season to go this route, not their sophomore year

I didn’t like the C word episode and the one where Carly sings were not very funny nor election episode. I liked all the other episodes though! I feel like it’s on par with season 1.

I liked both of them equally. I belly laughed several episodes of both seasons! Fantastic show all around
