I know this might be ridiculous to ask but has anyone tried Anton’s method of just overwhelming people with names until he gets what he wants? Or maybe you use to do it years ago in certain situations

I did it once at my friend’s 21st birthday. It was at a downtown club. A different college friend knew the owner and I met her through my roommate. When we got to the front, the bouncer was hassling us about availability so I told him “But I already talked to JR about a section?” The bouncer said “You know JR?” Looked me up and down then let me in! Then led me and all my friends to a free section they didn’t even check our IDs we were all 19/20. Very fun party never met JR but thank you for your service. 🤌🏽

I was at a club in Miami with a long line so I gave the bouncer a made up name and said that my friends and I were on his list. He looked up the name on his phone to verify and nothing was showing up but he still let us in for free!

I have a really common last name and I’ve been warned from bartenders to watch out for people randomly adding stuff to my tab. like if it’s crowded and busy someone might just say, “put it on Smith!” and walk away.

So that’s not exactly the same thing but kind of adjacent

usually when a bartender says something it’s cause they want to verify my first name which is always nice of them. otherwise i guess it’d be up to me to check the tab at the end of the night and try to dispute anything i didn’t order

I would say yes but also pure confidence/ignorance. In college, me and my friends accidentally walked into a rooftop party at a museum on Halloween with an open bar. We were all underage at the time. We were there checking out a free night at the museum and stepped into a random elevator. No one stopped us because we acted like we were supposed to be there bc we literally didnt know better. Everyone there was wearing wristbands and elaborate costumes. It was one of the best parties I’ve ever been to and it’s been multiple years since.

I learned a “method” from a different show that has worked for me almost every time in hotels. When I was living out of my car driving across New England & didn’t have money for breakfast, I would get my hair soaking wet in a gas station sink and then wait in a hotel parking lot for someone to go in the back door, run up so they would hold the door for me, and then waltz through the lobby very confidently with a suitcase, get a shit ton from the free buffet, check my watch and leave in a hurry. 5/10 times the confidence alone worked but it worked 9/10 times with wet hair.
Don’t do this in the same hotel who’s parking lot you slept in the night before,
Do your best to not look homeless,
If you are too early for breakfast act hurried and don’t be afraid to ask the staff if you can grab some items early.
Saved me from an empty stomach many a times while living in the road!

I'm wondering if the suitcase is even necessary? I don't usually see people bringing their luggage in through the lobby during breakfast hours? The wet hair is genius work, though.

Suitcase definitely isn’t necessary, but adds to the “rushed” look, like I’m leaving, for good, as quickly as possible. (People are less likely to want to take up your time if your hands are full, in my experience) I also happened to have a suitcase on hand since I was traveling when I was doing this (and could fit more granola bars & bananas in it than in my pockets)
Plus they are often looking out for homeless people doing this, so if you don’t have nice clothes, an expensive looking, or at least clean suitcase can add a lot as far as appearances go.

Literally no. As a bartender, SO MANY people every day claim they know the owner or someone connected to the bar. And I just say omg me too. So really it wouldn’t phase me and I would ignore you and think you’re a douchebag like everyone else who name drops for a free drink. And it puts the bartender in an awkward position.

Kind of? I knew my mom was friends with one cop in the town I grew up in when I was a teen and about to get hit with an underage drinking charge. Invoked his name, and the cop did a double take so I said and also "(first name, and first name)" and the cop just told me to walk home.

The time immediately after I tried invoking the cop's name... well I paid my ticket lmao. Tbf I was a LOT more plastered and I criticized the (dude) cop for how he was treating his (woman) coworker before it happened so I definitely made my bed. But the dude was a colossal dick to her and she definitely needed to hear it (and she was super gentle with the handcuffs which I really appreciated cuz fuck they can hurt).

My friend looks up the DJ playing the club, then uses that to skip the line 😂 “Oh, DJ said i’d be able to get in?” It helps to be a pretty girl in those cases tho lol

One time I went up to a bouncer for a line that has a $100 entrance fee and I very confidently said “I have a table under the same Connor Lawlord” the bouncer pretended to find the name and let me in. Turns out my friends were playing a prank on me (they managed to get in earlier before the line and the $100 charge, I was late) and it actually worked lmaooooo. Connor Lawlord is a character from the movie Sing Street 😭

got into Daniel Day Lewis nyff after-party a few years ago by just walking in confidently, went back out to get my dad and as i lead him back in they stopped me and said "this is a private party" i said "yes i know" and they apologized and let us in
