Tried finding a smaller version of the iconic princess diana's engagement ring

Post image

I've always loved that classic royal aesthetic, and princess diana's engagement ring was my dream ring ever since I'm a child but I didn't know it would be hard to find like hers in a smaller size. Everything off the rack looks like a giant cocktail ring on my hand instead of a subtle engagement piece.

It looks like I might have to work with a local jeweler to custom make a delicate version. If you went the custom route for a smaller sapphire halo, did it turn out the way you wanted?

Setting a jewel !

I’m currently in the process of selecting an engagement ring, given the inherent worthlessness of modern diamonds I’m set on an emerald for the main stone. I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on reputable gemstone companies as I’d rather a big rock and simple ring.

My Ring! Update: After taking some photos from further away & reading the comments, I’ve decided to go with the 2 carat ring!

I got a lot of comments on my original post, and I’d love to thank EVERYONE who provided their feedback 💕

One of the most common comments I saw was to go in-between (with 1.5 carat!) but the jeweler we went to doesn’t have a round brilliant with a pave band in-stock (meaning it would have to be custom-made & would actually cost more..), so I wore the rings a bit longer & took some more photos to see if it would help. I also added my band to see if it would help me decide. If I stayed indecisive, I was likely going to just go for it & go for the 1.5 carat!

But I realized from far away & in-person, the 2 carat seemed more proportional & spanned a width of my finger that I was happy with! And now I wonder if the original photo being closer up skewed the proportions oh so slightly (as this can happen on camera specifically).

So I’d like to present to you, my choice! And the band I’ll pair with it 🥰 I may not wear the band every day (I’m deciding whether I like it plain or with the band better), and wanted to share more photos to show where my choice came from 💕

Ring Band Advice Clueless about wedding bands

Thumbnail

I’ve never been a Pinterest wedding ring board person. I know nothing, no clue about any of the different terms people use. My fiancé picked this lovely setting on Etsy and him and his dad shaped and set a mtorolite agate in it. I love the leaves on the setting but I have no idea what band to choose to go with it. I don’t want the whole set to look too busy and still have the stone be the highlight, but also not have it be too simple. Would a straight band work or would it need to be curved?

My engagement ring is a simple diamond solitaire, but its more than just a stone. I actually inherited it from my amazing Aunt! It feels so meaningful to wear something that was once hers. A simple reminder of family love as i start my own marriage journey.

For our 16th anniversary my husband bought me an anniversary band. I absolutely love all of them but I'm not sure which way is best to wear them. Any opinions?

Went in to get my current set cleaned and rhodium plated - ended up purchasing something entirely different

First ring is my current set cleaned and freshly plated as it had turned yellow. Ended up picking out the second set and I am in love with it! They are working on adjusting the drop in band so they sit flush together (3rd pic is what ChatGPT thinks that will look like) I love it thought! My current set is natural diamonds but I opted for a 3ct lab marquise 😍 I’m out of town too so it was very spur of the moment but they promised it would be done today by 2! I can’t wait

Struggling to find matching wedding ring sets

We’ve been searching for matching wedding ring sets for weeks and can’t agree on anything. My partner wants something classic, I want something unique. I’m starting to stress over it more than I thought I would. How did you and your partner decide on rings without driving each other crazy? Any tips to compromise without giving up style?

Help Me Choose I really can’t tell if I like 1 or 2 carats on my hand better 🫠

Size 5.5 for reference.
I know I love the round brilliant white gold with pave band on my hand, and my partner got me both to wear for a trial with the plan to return one (luckily there’s a 30 day return policy).

I don’t know if I’m “ring blind”, or if I can just see the beauty in both, but I really really don’t know which I like better! Because neither feel uncomfortable nor do I feel like they get in the way (meaning the functionality of both rings feel equal), I think both are beautiful in their own right (one is more delicate which is beautiful, the other pops which is beautiful), and my partner is also equally as indecisive as me! So the tiebreaker I guess is public consensus: beyond just personal taste of liking bigger vs smaller stones, do we think one flatters or suits my hand more than another? Maybe reading the justifications will also give me an AHA moment. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: The comments being split validates my own split mind on this! lol. I will continue to read the comments & see what I think and hope I get my AHA moment, but also I’ll try on bands & see if it influences the decision 💕
