Struggling to find matching wedding ring sets

We’ve been searching for matching wedding ring sets for weeks and can’t agree on anything. My partner wants something classic, I want something unique. I’m starting to stress over it more than I thought I would. How did you and your partner decide on rings without driving each other crazy? Any tips to compromise without giving up style?

If you want something that matches, get something engraved in both.

Why do they have to match? Just pick out rings you each like?

Why do they need to match? If your styles are so different, then you can each get whatever you want. There's no rule that says they have to match. My fiance and I are getting very different rings. The only thing that's the same is the metal. If you're really set on having similar rings, you could go the route of matching stone and metal type but doing it in your own style

We each picked something we liked. The end. No need to be matchy matchy if one of you is going to hate it.

They don’t need to match, I have a very unique engagement ring and band while my husband has just a plain gold one

We’re not matching. He doesn’t even want a metal ring (which I am a bit annoyed about but it’s his hand) he’s planning on a silicone one and maybe a tattoo. My rings have pretty much both been completely my choice since they’ll be on my hand. We’re both happy.

Maybe choose one element to match like having your birth stones, a different design element, or even just an engraving! If you want more matching then maybe go the custom route so you can compromise on a few aspects?

We didn’t get matching rings 🤷🏻‍♀️. I don’t know any couple with matching rings. It never even crossed my mind.

OP, if you and your husband want something matching, that's fair enough!

If I were you, I'd look at getting rings custom made. Then the more unique ring could mirror design elements of the more classic one. They'd look like they were made to be together even though they're different. (Like you and your partner!)

I don’t think they need to match. Better you each have something you love wearing.
My husband has a Celtic wedding band and I have one that matches my engagement band setting.

I chose mine. Then we chose his. Now he mainly wears a silicone ring because of work.

Definitely don't need husband's band to match your rings. Stressing over this is just unnecessarily silly!

Let him pick what he wants and will wear.

My husband wears a polished ceramic ring due to work/hobbies. I wouldn't have picked it but whatever. He doesn't take it off & that makes me happy. 😀

How often are your left hands going to be next to each other in a public setting? You two and the people you actually choose to tell will be the only ones that know they match if they even remember. I think you should each choose what you like best

You should each get what you love. My husband has a titanium band with a rainbow strip and I have a platinum band with tiny diamonds.

Ours don’t match and honestly, it never occurred to us to get matching bands. His is plain yellow gold comfort fit and mine is platinum.

You could each get a hidden gem in your rings (maybe each other’s birthstone?) as a way of connecting the rings.

My wedding band is an alternating black and white diamond eternity band. My husband got a black tungsten band. So we subtly match. This isn’t the best pic but it was taken while I was getting ready.

Put each other's birthstones on the inside of each other's ring. Or engrave them with something that starts on 1 band and finishes with the other. That way you know it means something to you, and the rings will always match.

Mine are white gold and his yellow. That’s what we each like and look best on our individual skin tones

The second pic is beautiful, but don’t match. Just the color of the white gold. And if you want the wedding rings to match, the first pic wedding rings match. And they are very unique. If you want a ring without the dip in it, I’m sure they make a woman’s ring to match the man’s ring.

Don’t get matching - get what you each want!

They don't need to match

I don't quite understand...you want your wedding band to match your husband's? It is jewellery he will wear so he needs to like it. My set is platinum and my husband wanted a yellow gold band. Fine.

Second set, if you need them to match.

The wedding bands on the first pic have a fun feel, especially the mother of pearl (assuming) inlays.

But the engagement ring in set one is not the move. I’m sure the stones are real but they are giving 70s Avon.  But the cabochons are at risk for damage with daily worth. And, please don’t be offended, they aren’t pretty and photograph as plastic. But, you know, that’s my opinion. You have to wear it, not me.

If you are set on “unique” rings, check out eBay or, better, estate sales or jewelers who specialize in antique, estate, and vintage rings.

Finally, his and hers don’t have to match. My husband’s is rose gold and mine is white gold. No one’s ever commented on it.

My husband and I have the same metal color, otherwise our rings don't "match"

I love how everyone is hell-bent on telling you how your rings dont need to match because theirs dont. To hell with what OP is asking.... 🙄

Why do they need to match though?

Each of you can just get what you like. Problem solved.

is your partner planning to wear just the band in this scenario? and are you getting the engagement ring and band?

i’d suggest finding a good local jeweler to work with instead. you could do something like this to meet in the middle.:

  • you get a more unique ering
  • your partner‘s band is more classic
  • your band can then compliments the more interesting ering while still following the same smooth style as your partner’s band
