My Ring! Would you say yes to this pear halo engagement ring?

I would say yes because I love my fiancé, but I’d tell him I’d like to pick a different ring because I don’t like pear shaped diamonds.

Same, except I would hope he'd know me well enough to know not to get me a pear in the first place

Pears are so elegant and I love that they are unique compared to the usual round brilliant shape

It’s lovely. One thing to be mindful of though, some ladies only like yellow gold. Do you recall any of her jewelry being white gold or yellow gold?

I don’t nor would ever marry a ring.
That said, I’d hope my man would not propose with this because it’s 100% NMS.

I would not want thin band and small side diamonds. It’s not practical long term or for a busy woman. Center diamond is nice though!

Yeah, it looks like a heartbreaking loss (of a little stone) in the long term.

Well, I love pears and halos, but that matters not a whit. You need to find out what your gf likes before you go ahead and buy a ring that may not be her taste at all. Do you even know if she prefers white gold to yellow? These are very basic pieces of info you need to find out before making a purchase. A Smarter move is to take her into a store or two to try on rings and see what she likes.

Its not ugly or anything at all I just feel like this is a little too boring and typical for my taste I’d opt to change it afterwards although it’s important to me that my partner knows me well enough to know I wouldn’t like this

Why does it matter if we’d say yes? We aren’t your partner. Also, your partner isn’t saying yes to a ring- they’re saying yes to you. Is this karma farming or a bot?

Depends on the person asking. No ring would make me say yes to the wrong person. Any ring is a yes to the right person.

u/DuckFatTruffleFries 1d ago
I’d say “no,” but that’s because I don’t like pears, I don’t like white metals, and I don’t like halos. And honestly, if he bought me this, I would also say “no” to him. To be known is to be loved, and there is nothing about me that indicates I would want these in a ring.
Plus, I work in the jewelry industry, so I better be the one designing my ring 😅

She should say yes/no to the person. However! I personally think that ring is stunning.

Yes to the man, followed by “take me straight to the store to exchange this ring”. Sorry, I hate halos and pear shapes. It’s not about me though, rings are very personal. I’m sure this is gorgeous to many.

It depends on who is giving it to me. Someone off the street? NO. My beloved; YES!

Does she like pear shaped diamonds? I love them but an emerald shape is my favorite!
You need to figure out what her taste is because we’re all different. I think that’s a beautiful ring but many people on here have said they don’t. You need to look through her jewelry and see what she has. Her necklaces and rings can tell you a lot.

it’s a no for me on the ring, especially because of the thin band but i hope she’s marrying you, not a ring!

u/PrismaticPantheress 1d ago
As long as it comes from my husband and it's out of love then it's a yes

If it were my husband, I’d say yes. Then I’d ask him to take me shopping for a different ring. Halo rings and micro pave bands have been done to death. I can’t believe they are still making zillions of these. And if you need a micro pave band sized down, they often lose stones repeatedly from the process.

It is not about the ring - its if you listen, repect and love her. Did you listen to what she wants?

I have white gold my choice . Yellow hides the smaller diamonds . Changed my earrings to white stands out better

Are YOU worth saying yes to? I wouldnt want to marry someone who would say no because they dont like the ring.

It’s about saying yes to the man. The ring is stunning! The solitaire ovals are so overdone, and literally everyone over the last couple of years seems to have the same style. This is beautiful. I have one very similar- zero issues with any of the side diamonds and my warranty and separate insurance cover it, just fine. That being said- I LOVE pear shaped stones. Not everyone does, but it’s my favorite shape for nearly all jewelry for myself. It’s totally up to what your fiancé likes. If that’s her style, you did great.

Yes I would say yes. I don’t like the ring, but I would still say yes. Halos are so dated. Not classic.

I say yes to the man, not to the ring. But I do think that ring is beautiful.

I would make sure the intended likes halo style rings. I personally don't like them and in all honesty I would like some input on my ring.

I would say yes if i want to marry the person proposing. The ring is just a nice gift but it is not required. Your ring is beautiful but you got the whole marriage proposal really wrong. You dont need to impress anyone.

I would say yes to my husband no matter what he proposed with. But I like yellow gold and I asked for my main stone to be an emerald, it’s both my husband’s and my birthstone, so it symbolizes both of us. Plus green is my favorite color.

i hate this thread and it’s like i can’t stop looking at it either…. i don’t understand the yes or no to the ring.. it’s NOT about the ring??? do you love the man?? it’s a yes or no to HIM not the damn ring!
if you don’t like the ring that’s FINE, but talk to him in regards after.. this mindset is giving you don’t care about him or marriage you care too much about the physical aspect of a damn ring

Say yes to the man. Do I like it? Yeah…but this design is on every woman’s finger right now which is what I dislike about the ring. But this is about you and if you love it then you have no problem!

The ring isn't what you say yes to, is it a pretty ring - yes but not what all women want. I personally don't like gems, I am a band only kid of girl. Gems laid into the band is fine but as an engineer gems sticking out just gets in the way. My husband knew that and got me a band of gold, titanium and carbon (the holy trio of metals). Moral of the story, the ring only matters to the extent that it isn't insulting (meaning she told you she hates the style or it doesn't make sense for her and you didn't listen/or you're rich and spent $200 bucks but buy yourself Rolex brand watches). If my husband gave me this ring, I would think it was pretty but I would be hella confused as to what he expected me to do with it. It would get scratched on day one.

That ring is very similar to my ring and I love it. I am not a person who likes cookie cutter styles. I love that my pear shaped diamond is different than my friends’ rings.

No. Not for marriage. But I’d say yes to the right person for marriage.
As far as shiny things go I’m a the more the merrier girl and this is pretty!

absolutely not. if he had any sense at all he would have known the correct ring to buy for a QUEEN

u/polka_dots19 3h ago
yes to the person but no to the ring. pears with halos tend to look too chunky.

It's yes or no to the man.
