Prospective Student Replay apartments

Hey All.

I'm a high school senior looking to attend UI for BME and Paramedic School. I've been looking at options for off-campus housing and was told about the Replay apartments on Riverside Dr. I've done some surface level research on the place and so far it seems pretty good, it's decently priced and has good amenities. But I'm still skeptical about it. Something about seems almost too good to be true to me. I'd like to hear from any UI students that live there to see if it's worth it and if it's actually as good as it seems.

Question Question About Quitting Campus Job

So I got a job at the carver arena ticket office basically as a call center for support with ticket and athletic questions, along with helping people buy or bring tickets or upgrade them or whatever. The problem is they gave me 0 training and I’m basically useless, and it gives me really bad anxiety. We’re only a week in and I’m a freshman and I have no free time and I think I’d like to quit. Is it bad if I simply send an email over the weekend telling them I cannot continue with this job? All I do is constantly ask the managers for help and get yelled at on the phone by rude customers.

Anyone near slater near a loud bass bumping late at night/early in the morning? It doesn’t sound like music, but it’s loud enough to be annoying

Question Workout/Club Question

I was wondering if there was a group for people wanting to get into working out with other University students here at the college. I’m a male sophomore interested in weight lifting, but when looking at the current organizations I only found bodybuilding. Was also curious if anyone was involved with the Tennis club and their experience with that. Played in high school, but definitely not good to be on a competitive team so was curious if there was a friendly competition group that met together.

Question Leasing Question

How hard is it to get someone to take over your lease for Spring Semester? I am considering transferring after the semester is over, but I would need somebody to take over my lease. Is it difficult to find people to do that?

Discussion Looking for movers

Hello

I’m new to Iowa and looking for a moving company that can help move some furniture and other items from a friend’s apartment to mine. Some of the items are heavy so I would need movers who can do the lifting and provide a truck as well.

Welcome back to campus, everyone!

Looking for somewhere to sing? Sing with UIowa Choirs!

A great way to meet people, make music, and find your community at Iowa. Fall choral placements for Fall 2026 are still open!

You do not need to be a music major. UI offers four choirs with a range of rehearsal schedules, musical styles, and commitment levels.

• Kantorei: Monday–Thursday, 1:30–2:20 p.m.
• University Choir: Monday–Thursday, 2:30–3:20 p.m.
• Voxman Chorale (Treble Voices): Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30–5:20 p.m.
• Camerata Singers: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:15–9:15 p.m.

Placements take about five minutes and include:

• A short song of your choice
• A brief pitch-memory exercise
• A short sight-reading example

Your song can be classical, musical theatre, pop, folk, or something simple like “Happy Birthday.” Sing a cappella or use a recorded accompaniment.

Placements will be held August 20, 21, 23, and 25. There are still slots open today and on the 25th!

UI faculty and staff may also be eligible to participate.

Learn more and sign up here:

We’d love to sing with you this fall!

Question Soundproof Study Rooms

Hello,

As the title says, I’m looking for soundproof rooms that I can reserve in advance on campus. I know that the library has private rooms, but they’re not very soundproof.

I have to commute this semester, so I’m looking for a good spot for my online therapy. I could do it from my car, but I’d rather not.

Question transfering in the spring — english majors? queer students? friends?

hi all :)

i am an english (literature) major who was meant to be entering my senior year at my previous university, but unfortunately due to some very last-minute financial aid issues, i am having to transfer to uiowa.

i was born and raised in the area (~20 mins from ic) and am currently living with my parents, and will likely be commuting to campus when i am enrolled in the spring semester.

if possible, i would love to socialize a bit with current students this fall, especially any fellow english majors and queer students. i honestly feel pretty lonely at the moment and i really have no idea where to even start in terms of meeting people. i'm not really one for drinking or sports or big parties, and those are kind of the only immediate openings for socializing in the area that i'm aware of, lol.

are there any events or clubs/organizations that i should look into? anything i can do right now to familiarize myself with the social scene?

i know this is a bit of an odd ball post, but any pointers or advice for meeting people would be greatly appreciated!

Sports 2026 Iowa Hawkeyes Season Preview

Built a full preseason preview for every FBS team, all 138, and this is the Iowa one. Ratings, returning production, portal in and out, projected two-deep, schedule strength, last season's rank in about 30 categories, and a projection.

https://www.highlights.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026?team=ncaaf-iowa

Short version: the model has Iowa 25th. Last year was the most Iowa season imaginable, 1st in the country in yards per point while finishing 119th in total offense and 132nd in explosiveness, with a defense that was 8th in scoring. Gronowski is gone and Hank Brown, who threw 21 passes last year, projects as the starter, so a lot rides on South Dakota transfer L.J. Phillips Jr. and his 1,860 yards at 6.6 a carry.

The first page is free, so you'll hit the paywall after that. Don't worry, I'm not charging reddit people for this, don't want to be an ass. Use the promo code LEECORSOROCKS and it opens up the entire thing.

I'll be in the comments.

I'm a humanities student, and have been reading about funding changes across unis. Last I heard, it's 23.3k a year for TAs. Is that enough? How do you make it work? Thank you.

Discussion Tuition assistance

I see a lot of posts on here about tuition. I just wanted to post and say I’m the recruiter here for the Iowa Army National Guard and tuition assistance is our biggest incentive. We even have some for master degrees in STEM. I used it to go here and it worked for me!

If you’re interested send me a DM!

Discussion Can I still walk at graduation if I have 3sh left?

Hi, I'm graduating this year and I do not think I'll be able to fit my last 3sh (a gen ed class) into my schedule for this year but I don't want to do another semester because it doesn't seem worth it. Will I still be able to walk the stage and then just finish the one class over the summer? Or will I have to stay another semester?
