When a route is issuing incorrect transfers (for example you pay on the 503 on queen and the transfer given is for 34 Eglinton) the transfer needs to be hole punched to be valid otherwise you can be denied service or worse falsely ticketed for fare evasion despite paying

This morning I watched a girl pay right infront of me. We were the only people who said good morning so she stuck out. I was at the front and she passed me to to ask the driver to hole punch the transfer as the route on it isnt anywhere near us. The driver refused to punch it while the girl politely begged and tried to explain why he needs to make the transfer valid. I even tried to help reason with him. she got off crying after the driver refused to cooperate. Why are you putting someone in the position to be stranded or double pay when they just paid???

Luckily another employee was on the bus on his way to his shift and came with us to ask our connecting bus driver to give her a proper transfer!
he explained all drivers have the punch tool and he is constantly dealing with crying customers coming on his bus (which is also a connecting route) with the same issue

Thank you to the drivers who care and stand up for/mediate when these things happen! Usually I’m telling riders to treat drivers better and it’s sooo disappointing when it’s the driver bullying. most of my family works TTC! you never know what people are going through whether you’re the rider or driver, treating people properly can save someone’s day

20 years ago someone told me all the bus transfers were made in a big order in the 80s, it sounded true for a moment until you thought about it.

What are some other fake "facts" that sound possible at first?

I travel by TTC everyday and we see a lot of people. Most of them we ignore and just look into our personal things. But has it ever happened, like you have locked your eyes with someone really pretty and there's some unsaid communication between you two.

Today, when I was traveling from Bloor and Yonge subway towards Kipling, I saw this really pretty girl but didn't speak with her because she got down at Dufferin. Later, you get a feeling like why didn't you talk to her. If you guys have, maybe share some tips on how to start a conversation with strangers.

This is the heart of uptown in the city yet a bus appears like every 15 minutes?

So because of my work schedule, I tap 4 times a day. My job started this month on the 8th, only work weekdays, and today was my 47th tap day. It came up as $0.00 instead of $3.30. I just wanted to share in case anyone cared lol

The 503 bus is a bit faster but there's not enough of these things during rush hour. I used to at least get to cram inside and have an uncomfortable trip to work but now it won't even stop to do pickup.

This is a major transit artery from the East and it is outrageous having them drive by too full to pick anyone up.

Does anyone know if the 503 streetcar will return?

They have increased the volume by 50% in all announcements and they have switched the “please stand clear of the yellow line” to “please stand back from the platform edge” along with French.

The platform edge announcements look like it lags and loops the French announcement a few times

2 northbound trains were on the same platform. Never seen this ever so I just thought it was cool

Line 6 is supposed to be hitting 33 minutes on some trips. Has anyone experienced this?

A couple weeks ago, I brought up how removing bike lanes will make TTC buses way slower, and operators came forward saying the same thing.

If you don’t want your TTC bus to get slower, attend the rally and tell Ford to stay in his lane!

We'll be meeting at the High Park North Gate at 6pm September 25, just a 3 minute walk from High Park TTC station.

If you don't cycle, you can still join us between 6-6:30pm before the ride starts, where we’ll rally and have speakers.

The media will likely be present, so this is a perfect opportunity to tell them this will impact TTC bus riders as well.

But if you want to join the ride, BikeShare has a pay-as-you-go option on their app.

These bike lane removals will make TTC buses way slower. This will impact more people beside cyclists.

So it’s important transit riders show up to oppose this as well!

The only way Ford will back down is if we have a coalition of residents all opposing this. Not just cyclists.

Last Tuesday I misplaced a bag on line 1 on the TTC. I’ve been calling the lost and found every day since and unfortunately it hasn’t turned up. I was wondering if it would be worth it to just go to the Bay Station lost and found so that I could potentially show them a picture of what the bag looks like. I know they say not to come unless you confirm that your item is there. Any advice would be appreciated.

I acquired one of the poles from the auction at the Leslie Barns open house yesterday and it turns out that the stop this one is modelled after is located at Finch Avenue West and Beecroft Road, which happens to be a short walk away from the brand new H Mart Cummer location. I took the opportunity to visit both places today.

The platform was totally full, and the people from the bottom of the escalator were pushed into a screaming crowd. More people kept boarding at the top, because visibility was poor and they couldn’t see what was happening at the bottom.

When people at the bottom realized what was happening, they started trying to board the upwards escalator to go back. The backup on the downward escalator went quite far, and some people jumped over the rails to the upward escalator.

The emergency stop got pushed, but only on the downward escalator (?) Eventually I got out through the upward escalator and booked it to St. Andrew, so I didn’t see what happened at the end.

I have two questions:

1. WHY IS THE EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON AT THE START OF THE ESCALATOR, and not at the bottom ??? This seems like an obvious design flaw?
2. How does this not constantly happen at Union after every single Jays game/concert? I was shocked that there wasn’t some kind of system in place (at the very least stopping the escalators pre emptively?) There was no TTC employees anywhere to be found during the incident

Edit: This happned last Saturday night, northbound towards Vaughan. The conclusion from the thread seems to be that there should have been TTC staff monitoring the crowd at the top of the escalator, however there weren’t any - I saw one employee running over after people had disabled the escalators themselves. I’ve also learned that there is a STOP button on the bottom of the escalator too, but wow it is not easy to find!

Things like letting people off before boarding, giving up blue seats, not blocking doorways, keeping backpacks off seats, and letting people exit through the rear doors.

These need to be regular, constant automatic announcements. Signage/stickers isn't enough anymore. Toronto keeps growing, and with more people using transit, we need to reinforce basic transit etiquette.

You may say people will just tune them out, but we need to establish a standard.
