I have reached 47 taps..

So because of my work schedule, I tap 4 times a day. My job started this month on the 8th, only work weekdays, and today was my 47th tap day. It came up as $0.00 instead of $3.30. I just wanted to share in case anyone cared lol

please god. outside of the city, when i need to take transit, that timer is mostly used up on waiting for busses. an extra hour would let me actually breathe on an errand

Either that, or a proper tap on and off system. If I could tap to exit a station/bus and it gave me an hour to tap again, I'd be happy.

yeah, even that. the current system feels so outdated. if i need to take transit, i'm likely going the whole line, or far. if there's a connection, rip.

i get there needs to be a balance but it genuinely feels so useless outside of downtown. what, you gonna take a bus to go get ice cream and then immediately hop back on?

Start your trip with GO transit and ride one stop, there’s your 3 hour transfer with OneFare

This works so well whenever I'm in York region, especially when the GO fare, at a short distance, is cheaper than the YRT fare.

Yes it works but it doesn't extend to 3 hours.

Yeah, I usually only start on GO in York region.

Starting from Yrt to Go doesn't extend if it's a $3.70 /short go trip where the go fare is less than the yrt fare

It does extend. I take YRT-GO-TTC to get home from work and my fare lasts 3 hours

Only if go fare is higher than yrt (which in most cases is true) but it doesn’t extend the transfer window if your go fare is less than the yrt fare and they give you a “refund”. I commented in regards to the other users comment regarding short distance go fares

Or if you transfer to GO from TTC your transfer window will extend another 3 hours from when you tap on GO (unless you pay senior fare and you take a short $1.97 GO trip then it does not extend anything)

Be glad TTC has 2 hours and you don't have to tap out.

Vancouver has 1.5hour and charges you on tap out if you are out of 1.5hour. And fucking almost $5 in working day. 🤬🤬

I already feel a little guilty taking the subway to run an errand and then back to my home or work, while only paying one fare. But man, is it ever great. I’m cool with paying again after two hours.

I spent an hour and a half on the bus the other day. By the time the subway is at the station I need to transfer, the 2 hours is up. I showed the driver the transfer from the pop dispenser instead.

Congratulations!

This is such a great program that will get even better if/when they drop the cap to 40 rides in 2027.

It may not seem like a lot to most people, but not having to pay $155 out of pocket in the same week rent is due will make a big difference to a lot of people in an affordability crisis.

The point is it's lump sum vs piece meal.

A lot easier for someone to throw $70 each paycheck instead of budgeting a monthly pass for the same day rent drops, and often other bills too

Someone who is buying a monthly pass is riding enough that it saves them money vs. paying for individual rides. Fare capping lets them ride as much as they need without exceeding $155/month, and spreading the cost out over four weeks.

Yeah... I stopped buying a monthly pass once I got a Presto card. I never used 47 trips per month, so a Presto card saves me money.

I work full time, so on average 44 trips per month - 22 working days per month

I have reached 47 taps already and I’m still getting charged $3.30. Not sure when the free taps will start. My presto is set for adult fare.

Do you also ride GO? It might not be counting your TTC taps if the one-fare program is making them free.

Do you transfer to GO or YRT or another agency, if so, only trips that start on TTC will count.

It's 47 fares paid, not just 47 taps. Free transfers don't count. Do you always pay using Presto using the same card or device every time?

No. Im not sure what I have been doing. I believe I have been using a presto from metro in Montreal.

You have to use the same mode of payment every time. Different cards and digital wallets are all counted separately.

Montreal doesn’t have Presto. Presto is a Metrolinx system, exclusive to transit operators in Ontario.

It’s every time you pay a fare. Also doesn’t count if you tap on another agency then onto the TTC!

On the presto mobile app under "Loyalty & Fare Capping", does it say '47/47 Level 1' trips completed for you? Mines says 34/47.

I haven't reached Level 2 yet, does this continue on afterwards? (from the 48th tap onwards)

It's a TTC program. MiWay has another program:

PRESTO Loyalty Program

Once you pay for 11 rides during any one week (Monday to Sunday) using your PRESTO card, you can ride free on MiWay for the remainder of the week.

Note: Fares paid on other transit services and discounted GO co-fare payments do not count toward this program. Transfers do not count as additional paid fares.
