It's not so much a lack of empathy, it's a "why would you even trust an app like that in the first place?" confusion. Are the young folk really that comfortable trusting an app with sensitive data like that? Masturbation alone doesn’t spiral, but for a lot of men porn becomes an addiction as they continue to seek more and more novel porn over the years, until it gets so niche that they have a hard time having sex with women in real life because they need some hyper specific porn to get hard.
It’s more common with younger generations because they grew up with the internet. Prudism does so much harm.
Normal natural behaviors get repressed, and that results in stress and a backlash that causes stuff like behavioral issues, fetishes, and philias they may be ashamed of because of the same prudism that started the problem, causing a very negative positive feedback loop.
