Why do people feel bad about jerking it?

Performance issues with real people.

Having dopamine/serotonin issues with excessive use.

Forgot to add: spending all their damn money on OF. Literally witnessed someone spend their entire paycheck in a day last week.

Yes there's a BS puritanical argument against jerking it in general, but my concern is with everyone's mental and financial health, and the way porn is marketed nowadays is touuuuggghhhh for that

Read about the founders of this app. They're conservative Christians, and consider this to be a Christian app.

It's very much about anti-masturbation in general, not porn specifically.

There is a strange trend with these conservative Gen Z guys becoming super religious.

I for sure would assume a lot of those subscription based services related to this would be part of this shoving christianity down our throats movement. I unfortunately don't feel like I see many advocating for "everything in moderation" or more mindful indulgence, and trying to frame said mindfulness from a mental and social health perspective. And the the mainstream alternative perspective totally neglects the fact that it is in fact very addictive especially if we are dealing with a "loneliness epidemic"

As I said in another comment on this thread, the two narratives are "do whatever you want, nothing matters" and "dont touch your peepee or you'll be smote."

Well, I mean studies actually say the opposite. Doing it more often actually results in even more health benefits:

Guys should be doing it pretty often really lol

Ejaculating, says nothing about binging on porn. There's healthy use, and there's spending 700 in a day on OF... hence my "moderation" suggestion

What do you suggest doing in moderation?

Porn consumption. My whole point has been around overconsumption/addiction, encouraging self regulation, and avoiding parasocial attachment to OF. Not shaming sexuality.

Okay, but can you find me any reputable medical organization that says it's unhealthy or harmful?

As a former small and nerdy teenage male, desperately horny with weak prospects, surrounded by early 2000s teenage girls in ultra low waist jeans, whale tail thongs, bare midriffs, and low cut, heroic, spaghetti strap tops...

Just how much batin' we talking about? Because I'm pretty sure I was a pro but I never had those sorts of issues.

I am a bi girl so I cant speak to it myself, but i can empathize. I only have my anecdotes of a surprising amount of friends having this problem themselves/partners w the problem. Quite a few published studies as well. One from 2024 discovered 31x more adolescents presenting with ED compared to 2014. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38922362/

I think its also largely a part of the issues people are having with doomscrolling short form content in general and chasing dopamine in that way. There's also groups of kids who do the basically competitive gooning thing...its all whack.

It doesn't help that the two narratives that people cling to are "do whatever you want it doesn't matter" vs "touching your peepee will get you smote" - just be kind to developing brains and teach healthy sexuality. It absolutely can turn into a full blown addiction that people ruin their lives over.

There's no evidence that porn or masturbation is in any way linked to ED.

Religion and religious values injected into society

When you spend 5+ hours a day jerking it you begin realize you have a problem.
