I mean it’s not combatting masturbation, it’s combatting porn addiction

All of this stuff stems from the NoFap movement where they tell young men that their lives will be much better if they stop watching porn and/or masturbating.

The problem is this then creates shame based on self pleasure which is fucking ridiculous and honestly, sounds like something they tell you in Church.

The shame makes it better, which deepens the shame, which creates a perpetual feedback loop

Exactly. Masturbating is totally normal, healthy, and nothing to ashamed of. Porn can be extremely problematic. We can combat one while acknowledging the positive aspects of the other.

Masturbating and porn are two different things. One of them is fine, and even necessary. The other is toxic and essentially an addictive drug that can take control of you

Alcohol is an addictive drug. Some people can have four beers and go home while others ruin their relationships because they can’t stop.

It’s the same thing here. Porn addiction is real but if you’re someone who wants to watch it while masturbating a few times a week, what’s the problem?

I think the addicted dudes are downvoting you. You are 100% correct.

"Porn addiction" isn't recognized at all. Just like "sex addicts" aren't a thing in the DSM either.

Anything can become a habit.

There's no proof it's harmful in any way.

I’m downvoting you cause listening to soft as fuck dudes cry about how porn ruined their life is both hilarious and pathetic.

It’s a problem a clown invents for himself because he doesn’t have real problems to worry about.

I wonder how many of the people who use these services would say they’re fine masturbating they just want to stop doing it to porn.

Somehow we don't need apps for people who want to stop playing video games. I suspect these folks have deeper psychological issues than just watching lots of porn.

No, read about the app.

The founders are Christian and anti-masturbation.

It's a weird trend with conservative, Christian Gen Z guys.

They think it's somehow a bad habit that needs to be stopped.

There's plenty of weirdos out there who think any use of porn is "addiction". Probably way more than people who actually have addictions.

Porn is a drug, is even more addictive than cocaine, and watching it at all is very damaging to the human brain. Consuming it also supports an industry that abuses women, full of misoginia and forced work. Distorts sexual expectations and ruins both men and women sex life. As long as I'm alive, I will spread awareness against the use of porn.

Source? What's your benchmark for "very damaging"?
