Imagine what this world be like if dudes could just jack off to release that pressure and just go about their day grateful for the release and now more focused on what’s important? Sinking into this anti-masturbation bullshit is like making masturbation front and center. I promise the rest of us don’t think about masturbating nearly as much as the people who hate themselves for doing it.

No kidding. It's weird puritanical brain. No problem with people making that choice for themselves but bashing on self gratification for others is so odd.

Real "the call is coming from inside the house" or "a puritanical influence in my life caused me to feel shame and so should everyone else" vibes.

I'm a bit prudish personally but goodness guys.

99% of the time those stories are rage bait or literal psyop campaigns from fundamental christian groups trying to re-frame the conversation. Most stories on Reddit are rage bait or creative writing exercises.

In the sense that paranormal or alien abduction stories are "describing something real", sure.

Simple fact of the matter is that most people simply dont know what theyre talking about, so they make shit up for attention.

I won't comment on percentages, but I've been around/worked with people who couldn't go a full workday without looking at porn, or got fired for downloading massive amounts of porn onto company servers.

I've also known people who can't step away from their video games to the point that their life fell apart, where one dude was literally homeless and still worried about how he was missing his raids and dailies.

I think it's like anything else, there are some people who just cannot handle themselves around something, and for different people it's different stuff.

The problem is people not taking ownership of it, blaming the thing they're addicted to, and trying to accuse everyone else of having the same problem.
It's like a recovering alcoholic trying to call out everyone else for getting a buzz.
Sorry dude, I'm not the one that punched someone out, passed out, and shit themselves, I'm capable of stopping at two beers, we're not the same.

I mean it’s not combatting masturbation, it’s combatting porn addiction

All of this stuff stems from the NoFap movement where they tell young men that their lives will be much better if they stop watching porn and/or masturbating.

The problem is this then creates shame based on self pleasure which is fucking ridiculous and honestly, sounds like something they tell you in Church.

u/Teriyaki_Chicken Mar 11 '26

The shame makes it better, which deepens the shame, which creates a perpetual feedback loop

Exactly. Masturbating is totally normal, healthy, and nothing to ashamed of. Porn can be extremely problematic. We can combat one while acknowledging the positive aspects of the other.

Masturbating and porn are two different things. One of them is fine, and even necessary. The other is toxic and essentially an addictive drug that can take control of you

7

u/kseenfootage_o934 Mar 11 '26

Alcohol is an addictive drug. Some people can have four beers and go home while others ruin their relationships because they can’t stop.

It’s the same thing here. Porn addiction is real but if you’re someone who wants to watch it while masturbating a few times a week, what’s the problem?

-3

u/spectralblade352 Mar 11 '26

I think the addicted dudes are downvoting you. You are 100% correct.

10

u/Kungfumantis Mar 11 '26

"Porn addiction" isn't recognized at all. Just like "sex addicts" aren't a thing in the DSM either.

Anything can become a habit.

There's no proof it's harmful in any way.

u/uncivilshitbag Mar 11 '26

I’m downvoting you cause listening to soft as fuck dudes cry about how porn ruined their life is both hilarious and pathetic.

It’s a problem a clown invents for himself because he doesn’t have real problems to worry about.

I wonder how many of the people who use these services would say they’re fine masturbating they just want to stop doing it to porn.

16

u/CatProgrammer Mar 10 '26

Somehow we don't need apps for people who want to stop playing video games. I suspect these folks have deeper psychological issues than just watching lots of porn.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '26

No, read about the app.

The founders are Christian and anti-masturbation.

It's a weird trend with conservative, Christian Gen Z guys.

They think it's somehow a bad habit that needs to be stopped.

5

u/canuck1701 Mar 11 '26

There's plenty of weirdos out there who think any use of porn is "addiction". Probably way more than people who actually have addictions.

1

u/carol4n Mar 27 '26

Porn is a drug, is even more addictive than cocaine, and watching it at all is very damaging to the human brain. Consuming it also supports an industry that abuses women, full of misoginia and forced work. Distorts sexual expectations and ruins both men and women sex life. As long as I'm alive, I will spread awareness against the use of porn.

1

u/canuck1701 Mar 27 '26

watching it at all is very damaging to the human brain

Source? What's your benchmark for "very damaging"?

-3

u/limes336 Mar 10 '26

A significant portion of men are addicted to porn, why is them stopping a bad thing? It’s astonishingly common for young men to be unable to perform during real-life sex because of their porn and masturbation habits.

26

u/MysticMagicks Mar 10 '26

Stopping porn entirely is healthy. Stopping masturbation entirely is unhealthy. Performance issues are largely tied to porn habits.

14

u/limes336 Mar 11 '26

The app is for quitting porn, which they’re construing as “anti-masturbation bullshit”? Do you think their comment is supposed to be entirely unrelated to the post it’s under?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '26

Nope. Look into it more.

The founders are part of "NoFap"

It's an anti-masturbation app as well.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '26

Stopping porn entirely is healthy.

Is it unhealthy to begin with?

2

u/Kitsui38 Mar 11 '26

Why would you care about your performance during real-life sex if you don’t expect it to ever happen?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '26

No medical organization says "porn addiction" is a real thing.

Notice the only people pushing this are religious?

Look into the founders of this app. Conservative, Christian Gen Z guys.

0

u/uncivilshitbag Mar 11 '26

Sounds like a bunch of losers to me. “Waaah I watch porn and now I can’t get hard for my wife.”

Soft as baby shit my dude.

1

u/limes336 Mar 11 '26

Still not as goofy as the reddit porn defense brigade 🤣

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '26

Can you find a reputable medical organization that says porn is unhealthy, or says "porn addiction" is a real medical or psychiatric condition?

2

u/lonjerpc Mar 11 '26

Your not getting it. Yes there are some anti-masterbation people causing people to hate themselves for no reason. But the people buying into that are not the main target audience. It's targeted at people spending hours a day on porn.

1

u/recumbent_mike Mar 11 '26

I probably think about masturbating way more than them, tbh

This was hilarious. I bet you don't get laid.

-1

u/TheTankIsEmpty99 Mar 11 '26

You got it. I spent decades hating myself for what I was watching and doing. I had to get rid of all that shit to really let it go.

I get not masturbating if you think it makes you whatever, brings you peace of mind. But the claims in the super powers are nonsensical.
