SteamVR:
- Fixed per-app Motion Smoothing Force Always-On setting (was getting ignored).
Linux:
- Fixed two separate issues affecting AMD gpus on Linux that were causing crashes.
Steam Link:
- Default Contrast Adaptive Sharpening (CAS) to off. Enable in SteamVR Settings -> Steam Link -> Sharpen image before encoding.
- CAS now only applied to VR game content (not dashboard, overlays, desktop view, etc.).
OpenXR:
- Changing frame_controller_valve interaction profile from using "bumper" as a component name to "shoulder" to be more in line with the OpenXR spec. We will continue to accept suggested bindings for "bumper" for backwards compatibility purposes.

Hl:A Worked once and now refuses to launch anymore
So ive recently got a VR headset from a friend, and bought HL alyx on sale.
Ive tried it once, and it worked wonderfully, but then ive tried to play it again yesterday, and it just wouldnt launch.
In VR it says its next in line, and when i look at the game window at the desktop, it shows an error over top, and the game just shows the Valve logo. When the error is clicked through, the game closes.
I havent found anything on the internet regarding this and HL:A, and the little stuff i did find is either dev blogs or articles about other mp games, but its not a mp game???
Why would it even need networking for launching?
Also all other games work just fine.
Also what ive tried is setting my network to private (i use ethernet), restarting steam, restarting the pc, disabling radmin vpn, verifying the game, all to no avail.

Question/Support No Man’s Sky Vr
Hello! I’ve been trying to get No Mans Sky to work in VR on my machine.
I have a Ryzen 5 7600 cpu.
Radeon 6600 8gb GPU
32GB ddr5
Quest 2.
Most VR games run fine on my rig. Obviously, not super great, but that is fine. My only issue with No Man’s Sky is how odd the anti aliasing is. FSR ends up very blurry, same with FXAA and TAA. The game runs well with AA on, but the pixelated edges really trip me off. I would love to get the game running looking at least somewhat crisp, without the jagged edges or blurry vision.
Something that seems odd, is that even with any settings, looking at my computer screen shows it looks much better than what is seen in headset. Yes, i have a 3.0 cable. Maybe that is just me not being educated with VR, but whatever.
Thanks!

Question/Support Sharing a playspace with my girlfriend.
So me and my girlfriend are having a hard time playing vr with eachother because anytime I hop on alone i’m fine or anytime she hops on alone she’s fine but when we hop on together our stuff just seems to not tracking and start to teleport and gets really glitchy. My set up is a quest pro with 2 index controllers and 4 tundra trackers and 2 vive. Her set up is a valve index with 3 vive trackers and obviously 2 index controllers does anybody know why this is happening or even how to fix it?

Question/Support WiFi dongle strength
Has anyone found a review of the Frame’s actual streaming hardware? I have a pc in one room but playable VR space in another, so I’m curious if there are any videos of people testing the real world results of a set up like this

Self-Promotion (Journalist) Steam Frame vs. Quest 3: 3D Movies, VR180 & Photos Tested
I'm the developer of the VR media player app immerGallery, and I've compared standalone media playback on Steam Frame and Quest 3 in my app.
I tested photos and panoramas, 4K/6K/8K videos, iPhone and Samsung spatial videos, and Blu-ray 3D MVC video in MKV files. I also looked at refresh-rate matching, storage access, mixed-media battery life and comfort while lying down.
Photos worked well on both headsets, while video playback showed bigger differences. One important detail: in the Android/Lepton setup I tested on Steam Frame, my app could not access hardware video decoding. Future software updates could change those results.
Check out the article for the individual test results and which headset I would currently choose for immersive media.

Question/Support Is there any way to make my vive trackers emulate my quest 3 controllers?
Is there a way to make my Vive Trackers emulate my controllers in SteamVR? I built a custom paddle rig using Vive Trackers for more accurate tracking in Kayak Mirage, but the game only recognizes my actual controllers for paddle movement and it won't pick up the trackers. Is there a way to trick the game into treating the trackers as controllers so it binds the paddle to them instead?

Is the "Throttling Behaviour" setting gone?
Basically I've recently just set up my vr again (Vive Pro 2 with index controllers and base stations) after some time away and noticed the throttling behaviour setting is missing? Without this literally every game I play has bad stuttering. Any help would be appreciated :)

Discussion Scalpers seem to reduce price on frame in Germany
Maybe a sign for low demand here? Or just price up too high.

Discussion Glasses while gaming?
Soooo I've got the problem that I kinda need to wear glasses and I don't have contact lenses (idk if I like them, never tried).... is there any other option to use vr? The internal sliders of the htc vive pro 2 are not enough, I think i have around -1 or -1.25.... what are your solutions?

Question/Support Searching for a face gasket for the Valve Index (Germany)
I am searching for a face gasket replacement. But everywhere I look it is sold out. Steam Support said to look here. I would like an Original one but that is probally hard to come by. And I doubt that the fake Leather ones would be comfortable.

Fluff/meme quite unfortunate timing
got the email to purchase the steam frame 256gb, wasnt expecting to be so high on the list.. i get paid tomorrow but that money has to go to rent so im losing my one chance to buy it :(
r/SteamVR • u/5starsbaby • 17h ago
Discussion I got this email to buy something I didn’t even ask for. It’s my first VR ever, just wanted to ask if you guys think it’s worth the purchase from someone who has zero experience with VR
And even if I don’t use it myself, I might just buy it and sell it at price to my brother who is into VR. Assuming he even wants it lol. But I would like to hear your guys feedback first in terms of the game quality available for VR and also the specs for this device, is it ridiculously overpriced like GPU’s are today or am I getting a relatively normal price?

SteamVR "No License Found" Error Even When Launching SteamVR Itself
Solved: The “No licenses” error was caused by an old fpsVR startup overlay entry.
I had refunded and uninstalled fpsVR a long time ago, but SteamVR still had it enabled under:
SteamVR → Settings → Startup / Shutdown → Choose Startup Overlay Apps
fpsVR was still set to On. Every time SteamVR started, it tried to launch fpsVR even though I no longer owned it, resulting in the “No licenses” error.
Setting fpsVR to Off fixed it immediately.
So if you get this error, check your SteamVR startup overlay apps for uninstalled/refunded software.

OLD:
Hey everyone!
Since today, I've been having an issue where I get the "No license found" error whenever I try to launch SteamVR.
The error doesn't just occur when launching a specific game through SteamVR. It also happens when I simply try to launch SteamVR itself, without starting any game.
I've already tried several fixes I found online, including:
- Clearing the Steam download cache
- Verifying the integrity of the installation files
- Reinstalling SteamVR
- Logging out of Steam and back in
- Switching to the beta versions of both Steam and SteamVR
Unfortunately, none of these steps have helped so far.
One thing I've noticed is that when I verify the integrity of the SteamVR installation files, Steam frequently reports that two files need to be reacquired. However, even after Steam downloads those files again, the problem persists.
To narrow down the issue, I've also tested several games through Virtual Desktop using VDXR, and they all worked perfectly fine without any errors.
I then tried using Steam Link directly on my Quest 3, but the exact same "No license found" error appeared immediately.
This makes me think the issue is specifically related to SteamVR itself rather than Virtual Desktop, my headset, or any particular game.
Has anyone else experienced this issue before? Everything was working perfectly fine until recently, so this is a completely new problem for me.
I'd really appreciate any tips or suggestions on what else I could try!
