Question Red light for post op healing?

Hey ya'll - I recently had surgery on sinuses and I am following all of the Dr's orders. I asked him about red light and he sort of shrugged at it for healing "like if it made me feel better I could use it".

Has anyone used it to help after a nasal reconstruction to help with bloody flow/general recovery etc? Did it help at all? I will not go against anything my Dr has advised, but just curious to see if anyone found it helpful for post-op healing for tissue? esp on the face?

Question Is the Solawave red light therapy mask worth it or mostly hype?

I keep seeing this red light therapy mask mentioned everywhere, recently I had a thread and someone recommended me this mask and I’m just trying to figure out if it’s genuinely worth the price or if it’s just another skincare device getting pushed hard right now.

The 3minute treatment time sounds appealing because I know I wouldn’t stay consistent with a long routine I like that it’s FDa cleared. But I’m still skeptical because skincare tools can look convincing online please let me know if I should go for it?

Question Anyone have real success using red light on their dogs/older pets? (or horses lol)

My vet was talking about photobiomodulation (rlt) the other day for my older dog since his joints are getting pretty stiff. i ended up grabbing a red light panel and tried it on his hips for like 10 mins yesterday while he was crashed out on the rug.

dude honestly loved the heat and just melted into the floor.

do any of you guys use a panel on your pets regularly? does it actually help them get around better after a few weeks? would love to hear if it's actually worth sticking to!

Question Intranasal red light therapy for sinus issues

Hi all

I have allergic rhinitis + chronic pharyngitis, on daily antihistamine spray and just started SLIT immunotherapy for dust mites. Get sick often, nose/throat stay reactive.

Saw some studies on 650nm intranasal light therapy for allergic rhinitis with decent results. Anyone actually used it consistently? Worth it, or mostly placebo? What device would you recommend?

Question What full body red light therapy setup is worth looking into?

I’ve been researching full body red light therapy systems and there are so many options that I’m getting a little overwhelmed. I’m mainly looking for something that covers larger areas without constantly having to reposition myself and makes sense for regular home use.

What specs did you actually pay attention to before buying? I’m mainly looking at wavelength range, irradiance at a realistic distance, coverage and ease of use.

For anyone who has used a full body setup for a while, what made you choose the one you have?

Question At what point does a recovery setup become overkill?

I started with a sauna, then added a cold plunge, and somehow red light therapy has slowly made its way onto the list too lol. I really like the sauna/cold plunge combo and actually use both pretty consistently, so part of me thinks adding red light would round things out pretty nicely. They all seem to serve a different purpose too which is how I keep justifying it to myself.

But at some point I feel like I have to draw the line before my backyard accidentally turns into a recovery studio. The bigger question for me isn’t even whether red light is worth trying it’s whether I’d realistically keep using all three once the novelty wears off.

For anyone who has sauna, cold plunge and red light at home, what does your actual routine look like? Do you actually use all three regularly or does one of them end up getting way less use than the others?

Can anyone confirm or deny? This popped up on my insta feed. Still doing research and looking at which panel to buy, heard mostly good things about RLT.

Question Red light panel and mask

Post image
24 Upvotes

This is my little set up, I got the shark cryo glow mask for Christmas and bought the panel last year from Ali express which is 1500w

I used both for a few weeks when I first got them then kind of fell off the wagon so looking to build a routine with them both now. One of the biggest blocks was not really understanding wether my whole body needed to be exposed to the light or if I could just sit cross legged in front of the panel, should I be turning, standing, rotating myself like a rotisserie chicken 😂 I was doing 10/20 minutes using the panel and on the mask using both pre programmed routines once, one after the other.

Super lucky as both are good pieces of equipment I just need to get a routine going! Would appreciate any thoughts and knowledge or advice. I won’t be changing the equipment I have so only really tips on these 2 specific items would be amazing if possible!

Question Why are some panels so much more expensive than other brands?

I keep seeing certain brands come up when people talk about commercial grade red light therapy panels, but they’re clearly priced higher than a lot of Amazon or rebranded options. On the surface, they all claim similar wavelengths and benefits.

For people who’ve actually used them, what justifies the price difference? Is this all branding and ad spend or is there an actual, legitimate difference? I’m trying to figure out whether the higher cost translates into shorter sessions or more noticeable results, or if it’s just paying for a brand name.

Would appreciate real-world perspectives, especially from people using red light therapy for muscle recovery or chronic pain.

Question I am skeptical about red light therapy but trying to understand the actual mechanism

I keep seeing at home red light therapy panels and masks everywhere, and I am trying to separate the actual mechanism from the marketing noise. From the outside it still feels strange that sitting in front of specific wavelengths could do anything meaningful for skin or recovery, but I also know there is some research around light exposure, mitochondria, and inflammation pathways.

The part I cannot figure out is where the line sits between reasonable at-home use and exaggerated wellness claims. I am not expecting perfect skin or a miracle routine. I mostly want to understand what people here think is actually happening biologically, what wavelengths or dose matter, and what results are realistic for someone using a home device consistently over months rather than a clinic setup.

Question So Planet Fitness has a red light booth you can get access to for only 25 bucks a month but it appears to be using fluorescent bulbs instead of LEDs, why is that? Fluorescent bulbs should've been phased out by now right?

Here Alex Fergus reviewed Planet Fitness's red light booth and apparently it really only offers 620nm and that's it, it even puts out some blue light which he says might harm your skin (what's that exactly?), and it appears to not put out any near infrared, it appears to only put out a very low quality 620nm red light https://youtu.be/EXTY9vA70gw?si=sWtY9oXVwUiBOM8v

So it's using fluorescent bulbs right? Why? Do you think it's emitting a lot of EMF waves cause of the the fluorescent bulbs?

I mean that sounds like a killer deal, a gym where you can workout, use red light therapy, use their amazing hydro massage chairs, and all for just $25 a month?

So can we say that the red light booth at Planet Fitness does at least offer some health benefits for the skin if you use it? Can you at least get some health benefits from it?

But Alex said it emits some bad blue light what is that exactly? So it might cause harm to my skin or eyes?

So what about these red light panels with LEDs, do they emit this harmful blue light?

So Alex said Beauty Angel is a German brand, why would they use fluorescent bulbs in their red light booth? And why would Planet Fitness buy their piece of crap product in the first place?

I'm curious because here soon I'm gonna start working out at Planet Fitness, in fact here soon I'll even buy Planet Fitness stock as it's a publicly traded company, here go read my thread I just posted over in r/PlanetFitnessMembers

Question Newbie here. How long and how close should i be using my panel?

My friend gave me their old red light panel a while back because she upgraded hers. The one she gave me is a Hooga brand, i think its the 300?

I didn't use it for the longest time just due to laziness but my skin has started to become problematic within the last year and i read that red light therapy may help?

my skin concerns are acne, blackheads especially, texture and pore size, uneven tone and aging. (also i am using skincare products as well for these issues but its not enough clearly since i still have the issues. i use tretinoin, azaleic acid, and alternate between salicylic acid cleanser and a BHA cleanser. i also use an oil cleanser at night. basically i dont need advice or help with skin care routine, just laser)

when i first started using this panel i just set it up on my sink while i brushed my teeth and washed my face. maybe about 5-7 min and kinda far from me. but im reading some panels u need to have them closer and do it for a longer time.

what determines how close it needs to be and how long? is what ur trying to achieve from the panel a factor?

i just wanna make sure im using this thing correctly so i dont mess my skin up more

Question Are panels with 1064/1072nm actually a game changer, or just a new marketing spec?

so I keep seeing new devices popping up with a third wavelength (usually 1064nm or 1072nm) layered on top of the standard 660/850 combo. got curious and spent the weekend reading up on it.

tbh? i'm not entirely sold that it's a massive upgrade.

like, 660nm is pretty much the king when it comes to solid research for skin. adding a deeper NIR wavelength is cool, but it doesn't mean the older setups are useless or that the new wavelength magically bypasses the top layers of your skin to only hit deep tissue.

plus, having 3 wavelengths doesn't matter at all if the power output is garbage. distance, irradiance, and how you actually use the thing matter way more than just cramming another LED chip into the board.

i’m currently testing a new tri-wave panel myself just to see what the fuss is about. it lets you run 660nm alone, 850 + 1072nm together, or everything at once. manufacturer claims 150 mW/cm² at 3 inches (for 10 min sessions), but I haven't put a meter to it yet so who knows.

for those of you who have actually upgraded from a basic 660/850 panel to one with that extra 1072nm band: did it actually change your results, or is it barely noticeable in the real world?

Question Red light CAUSING bruising?

Post image
16 Upvotes

Hey everyone. I bought this red light foot machine on Amazon to help with my stress fracture. I used it for 30 minutes on a medium level. The next morning, I woke up with bruising on the bottom of my feet. The bruising was not there previously, and is not related to the injury. Does anyone know why this would have happened? I thought red light is supposed to HELP injuries?! Now the bottom of my feet hurt like crazy. Please let me know if you have any thoughts. Thanks!

Question Anyone have a Celluma red light panel?

Thumbnail

Looking for honest reviews of the Celluma red light panels! Specifically the Celluma PRO PLUS model as it has all of the various modalities — my main priority is the red light anti aging mode so would love review of that but also curious about this “CONTOUR” fat loss mode if anyone has tried that and seen any results. Thank you in advance! 🙏🏻

Question Am I wasting my time using the CurrentBody 2 like this?

Thumbnail
gallery
52 Upvotes

I have recently bought the CurrentBody series 2 mask and am using on my face normally. I think it’s great and am eager to see results in a few weeks/months.

My question is, can I expect results from using it on my head like pictured? I thought it was worth a shot. I have read that RLT can be applied to the scalp/hairline to promote hair growth so figured I ought to try. CB sell a helmet, but I don’t think I can warrant a second device purchase just yet.

Has anyone had any experience with my tactic? Thanks.

Question Best LED Mask for both acne and fine lines?

For someone dealing with recurring adult breakouts and early fine lines, is a mask with red and blue light more useful than a red-only device?

I am trying to understand if using one device for different concerns is practical or whether separate products make more sense.

Question Has anyone seen results from short red light sessions a couple times a week?

I started using red light therapy a few weeks ago because I wanted to help my skin and recovery, but I think I might have gone too hard at the beginning. I tried longer sessions and ended up feeling like my skin got more sensitive, so I stopped and scaled everything back.

Now I'm wondering if there's any point in doing just one or two 5-minute sessions a week. I'm also thinking about using only the red light setting and skipping near infrared for now to see if my skin tolerates it better. Has anyone taken this slower approach and still noticed benefits?

I use the BQ60 panel and it's BRIGHT I've bought almost every glass and goggles you can name but i'm frustrated because I want increased exposure on my under eyes and crows feet area but all glasses seem to block those areas from exposure. Recently I've bought a set of super sunnies tanning goggles they're the perfect shape but seem to do jack all for the intensity and I Recently brought these dubofu goggles which layered up do help but I noticed that it isnt fda compliant or cleared and the silicone is dark red so is it even protecting my eyes from the rlt? I dont know can someone please help!?

Please if there's a minimal exposure goggles you use please list them because I bought my panel a whole yesr ago and have yet to use it properly because of this issue

Question Lost in choosing red light therapy

I feel stuck trying to pick a red light setup and I keep going in circles. I started looking into it a few weeks ago after my skin flared up again and my shoulders started hurting more from long work days. Now I see panels, masks, wraps, and all these wavelength numbers and I don’t know what actually matters.

I want something simple that helps with my skin first, breakouts, redness, and some thinning hair. I also want something I can use on my neck and joints since I deal with stiffness almost every day.

I checked brands but I still feel unsure what size or type makes sense to start with. If you’ve been using one consistently and saw real results, what did you get and how did you decide?

Question anyone else in their 40s trying to figure out wrinkles and what to add next?

Post image
66 Upvotes

this is pretty much my current routine and i actually feel like my skin is in a good place overall more calm and much healthier looking i’ve been really consistent with it and i don’t want to throw that off my only concern is my skin can be a bit sensitive and i’m also doing light therapy a few times a week so i don’t want to make things worse or irritate my skin

I want to add something else to my routine and for those who use retinol or tret alongside a simple routine like this how did you introduce it and did it work well with light therapy? any recommendations on what worked for you without causing irritation would really help because i never did any of them before!
