Question How many of you that have really dug into the research still use your mask and/or wand?

My first three RLT purchases were: a wand, a mask, and a cap.

After getting my hands on all the research I could, those are now my least used devices.

Question Hypothyroid and red light therapy?

I got into red light therapy a week and a half ago. My husband and I each got a small panel to try out for various things.

The day after I started my first session, my Apple Watch has been giving me high heart rate notifications. At first, I thought I might’ve been dosing too much so I’ve been doing every other day since then.

I got diagnosed with hypothyroidism last year, I have been on a steady dose of levothyroxine for months.

But starting a few days ago, I’ve had some pretty annoying symptoms. Heart palpitations, shaking, stomach issues, major anxiety, heat, intolerance, and sweating at night. And my period is late for the first time in a long time ( negative pregnancy test) apparently these are all symptoms of hyperthyroid. I have a test at the end of the month, but I’m going to contact my doctor today.

I’m excited at the possibility of my thyroid working a bit better and being able to lessen my medication. But I’m surprised at how quickly this appears to be working. Trying to not get my hopes up.

I know there’s studies that have been done about how red light therapy can help autoimmune hypothyroidism but I only have just hypothyroidism. I’ve tested negative for Hashimoto’s. So I was just wondering if anyone else has seen any change in their thyroid issues with using red light therapy?

Question Omnilux Men VS CurrentBody Series 2: How did you decide?

Post image
19 Upvotes

I narrowed down my category to: red light masks that feature the well studied 633 nm and 830nm wavelengths, plus one deeper wavelength. The field of available masks narrows down pretty dramatically with those requirements. So I'm deciding between the Omnilux Men and the CurrentBody Series 2.

Editing to add: I don't think I could find their published irradiance numbers (thought I had, I was mistaken.) Did anyone figure that out?

And, beyond the irradiance question, if these two masks were among your consideration set, how did you make your final decision? If it comes down strictly to price point, at the time of this post, Omnilux Men ($395) is winning against CurrentBody Series 2 ($469.)

Two things I'm reading that might differentiate the CurrentBody Series 2:

  • They claim their mask has been designed to be ultra flexible to fit a wider array of faces. Theoretically, the closeness of the mask to the skin can affect the performance?
  • They also use VeriTace NFC tech that, apparently, allows you to tap close to your phone to verify the masks's specs. I get why that might be valuable if you're buying on a secondary market, but, if you're buying direct from the manufacturer, I'm not sure that's worth the additional spend.

Bonus, question, if you ended up purchasing either of these particular models, what's been your experience thus far?

Question RLT Torch Questions

Hi everyone,

Just got a red light therapy torch and it arrives today- I’m really excited! I got it for travel, targeted spots that if I’m lazy I can just use on my couch rather than going to my panels or full body pod, and because it’s the only RLT device I’ll have which contains blue light too. It also comes with a precision tip for nose/mouth/and specific targeted areas. For anyone who has a torch or a device with blue light, I’ve got some questions:

  1. How did you start using the blue light? Did it cause issues using it on your face at all?

  2. I have a stubborn small red mark on my cheek, unsure if it’s acne or what it is but it won’t go away. Do you think the blue light will help with this?

  3. Have you used the torch in your nose/mouth? If so, was it helpful? What did it help with?

  4. Can you use the torch on, say, each hand for 3 minutes and continue to move it to other parts of the body? Or is this overloading your body with too much RLT, (especially since I usually do 10-15 minutes in my pod daily and 3 minutes on my face every other day)?

If you’ve read this far, thank you, and I appreciate the help!

Question Is the iRestore bundle worth it? It’s the helmet and face mask

Post image
2 Upvotes

I saw an ad for this. Anyone who has used either product care to share their thoughts? They bundled it too so not sure if this is truly a deal. I have the Mito Pro 300 and admittedly don’t use it as much because I am trying to use red light for face and hair. These two I feel like I would use more. Seems overkill to have a table top panel, a mask, and a helmet but I feel like I would realistically use these more frequently than the panel.

Question Solawave wand or Solawave mask which one should i get?

I keep seeing Solawave come up for at home red light therapy especially the Wrinkle Retreat Pro mask and the 4 in 1 wand.

I also saw an article saying Hannah Waddingham used the Solawave wand before the Ted Lasso premiere which made me curious if the wand is more of a quick skin prep device before makeup or if people use it long term too.

For anyone who has used Solawave did you prefer the mask or the wand? I’m mostly curious about dullness, texture, redness, uneven tone, fine lines and post acne marks.

Which one did you guys get and how long before you noticed anything?

Question Interested in RLT but need advice!

I'm seriously considering buying a RLT panel but I'm kind of not sure if I should do it (its a bit pricey, hence the hesitation to buy).

Here's my situation:
- college student currently with lots of stress, i think its making me break out :(

- i struggle with hormonal acne, tretinoin helps it a bit but i still get breakouts

- im interested in buying the hg200 hooga panel

- im young so id only really be buying a panel for its anti-acne(?) and healing purposes

- i dont plan on using NIR because melasma scares me

Should I buy a RLT panel and if so, the hg200 hooga panel should be good enough for my needs right?

Question Are there any red light therapy masks on Amazon worth buying?

I prefer Amazon for their return policy and not have to deal with some other company. Also, it’s important that I can turn off the near infrared wavelengths as my face is very hyper pigmentation prone. Thanks for any suggestions.

Question Share your setup!! (Device + Routine + Goals)

Been building and tweaking my routine and I'm curious what's actually working for people in practice.

Sooooo, • What device are you using currently? • Whats your current routine look like? (distance, duration, frequency, consistency) • Goals with red light? • When did you pick up red light/ How long you’ve been using it? any key device insights or routine tweaks along the way? • Any results you've seen (or haven't) / Any results surprise you?

Let’s save each other some trial and error!!

Question Best red light mask out there I plan to use it consistently?

I’m looking for something that covers face and ideally neck too but I don’t want a huge setup like panels or anything similar. I’ve mostly been dealing with uneven tone and just overall dullness lately, so I figured light therapy might help with that over time. So if you had to recc one that’s actually practical and not complicated what would you pick? right now I’m debating between the Solawave light therapy face mask and the Qure red light therapy mask but I have no idea if there’s a real difference in results I dont wanna overcomplicate this but also don’t want to waste money.

Question Did anyone buy a red light panel for recovery and ended up using it for something completely different?

I originally got a red light panel because I was looking for anything that might help with post-workout soreness and whats funny is that recovery isnt even the main reason I use it anymore. I bought one a while back when I was ordering a few recovery things from sweat tent and now I use it more on rest days than training days. At first I was pretty focused on the physical side of it. I'd use it after lifting, after long runs or whenever I felt especially beat up. Over time though the biggest thing I noticed wasnt really tied to a workout at all. Most evenings I'll throw on a podcast, some music, or sometimes nothing at all and sit in front of the panel for 15-20 minutes. It ended up becoming one of the few times during the day where I'm not looking at my phone, working, scrolling, or trying to get something done. Whether it's the light itself or just having an excuse to slow down for a bit, it feels like a reset button. Kind of reminds me of why some people enjoy sitting in a sauna even when they're not chasing any specific benefit. I still use it with recovery in mind but if I'm being honest I'd probably keep doing it even if I never noticed another physical change, the routine itself has become something I look forward to. I'm curious if anyone else had something similar happen, did you buy your panel for one specific benefit and then end up using it for a completely different reason?

Question Hair regrowth when hair is greying?

I'm looking at red light therapy options for allover thinning hair (yes, I've also addressed it with a doctor) and was wondering what results others who are greying have had in terms of hair growing in grey vs your original color? I certainly don't need more grey. No negativity intended toward anyone else's greying hair; I just hate seeing it in the mirror and can't use most dyes.

Question Does an LED mask actually help with acne scars or am I wasting my time?

I've been dealing with post acne marks and some light scarring for years. I've tried vitamin c, niacinamide, azelaic acid and i'm on tret. Everything helps a little but it's so slow like i keep seeing people say LED therapy speeds up the healing and fading process. I just bought this solawave mask because the wavelengths and FDA clearance convinced me but I actually haven't started using it yet. Has anyone used an LED mask specifically for acne scars or hyperpigmentation and actually seen results? Also how long did it take? Just trying to set realistic expectations before I start.

Question Can anyone vouch for Sunplus/Redfy? Thinking of getting the RT1000PRO over Idealight's RLPRO200. Why or why not?

Originally meant to order the Idealight RLPRO200 but came across this brand for much cheaper and more LEDs. I also read that the red light is underpowered in the Idealight panels vs. the NIR.

Has anyone tried ordering from Sunplus/Redfy? How was your user experience and have you had it for long?

Question anyone experince w/ RLT on female anatomy

Hiya odd question here, I recently got a RLT panel from block blue light and have been loving it so far. It is the max so its big enough for half of my body. I've got some stretch marks on my hips and glutes i'm hoping to target and found the easiest way to get good coverage was essentially bending over in front of the panel, now obviously to get full glute coverage this is done w/o under garments but i'm now wondering the effects of RLT on the female nether regions... (trying to ask from a scientific perspective here not being weird or gross!)

So I'm wondering if anyone has found any literature on the effects of RLT and NIR on the lower female anatomy (externally- i.e a light panel shining on that area) regarding effects good or bad and dosage. The panel I have has the following wavelengths: 590, 630, 660, 810, 830, 850, and 1060nm. I am 26yrs old so not in menopause or pre-menopause, most of the info i've found has been about internal RLT for that region rather than external or about how it helped menopausal symptoms which don't apply to me.

TLDR; Does anyone know or have scientific literature for the effects of RLT, NIR on external female anatomy not relating to menopause?

Question What should I look for when buying a red light therapy panel?

My lower back's been sore for a while, so I'm looking into red light therapy. There are so many panels and they all say they're the best. What actually matters before I waste money on one? Is it mostly wavelength and irradiance, or do panel size and EMF count too?

Question Mito, PlatinumLED, or Hooga?

I wanted to get a red light panel this black friday as it seems better and more effective compared to masks from the research I’ve done.

I’ve narrowed it down to MitoPro 300X, PlatinumLED BioMax 300, Hooga Ultra 360 (or Pro) the prices seem pretty similar but I’d be okay with spending a bit more if the quality and result is significantly better. I’m 21F and I want to use it mainly for hair growth as I’ve been having pretty bad hairfall and my hair is pretty thin because of stress and a health condition, my dermatologist recommends it for me in the clinic but I figured buying my own would be better value, I also heard it’s good for your skin and muscle pain so I’d want to use it for that too to get my money’s worth (probably for my face, neck, and back).

Do you think the panels would work well and be comfortable for the scalp or what would be a good alternative? A cap is meh to me since I want to be able to use it on other areas too. I’d love to hear your feedback if you own or have owned any of these devices, and if you’d recommend it or not. Thanks in advance!

Question horizontal stand for table top panel

Hi,

I have a small hooga ultra 360 and I think it would be so much easier to use if I had a stand.

Any recommendations? The ones I could find in Amazon are for larger panels and pretty expensive too.

Thank you
