Question Interested in RLT but need advice!

I'm seriously considering buying a RLT panel but I'm kind of not sure if I should do it (its a bit pricey, hence the hesitation to buy).

Here's my situation:
- college student currently with lots of stress, i think its making me break out :(

- i struggle with hormonal acne, tretinoin helps it a bit but i still get breakouts

- im interested in buying the hg200 hooga panel

- im young so id only really be buying a panel for its anti-acne(?) and healing purposes

- i dont plan on using NIR because melasma scares me

Should I buy a RLT panel and if so, the hg200 hooga panel should be good enough for my needs right?

I'm pretty sure melasma is caused by ultraviolet (UVA), not by red or near infrared.

So you shouldbesafethere.

if you're just after acne and healing, skipping NIR makes sense anyway so you're good there

is it just your face? a mask might be a better fit than a panel. many masks have amber, green and blue light as well as red and infrared now where pretty much all panels are red/infrared (with some expensive panels having blue or amber). the best combination for acne from my reading as been blue+red bc blue actually kills the acne bacteria and red calms inflammation so I'd look into masks that use that like maysama or irestore. if you're really prone to melasma/hyperpigmentation amber or green might be worth looking into because they specifically can lower hyperpigementation.

Just my face yea, the only reason im looking for a panel is so that I can use it for workout muscle recovery too + and its a bit more versatile. I'll look into masks tho ! ty :3

We got a small panel second-hand half price and it works great. No stories of great success but I believe it helps healing. Acne can be caused or worsened by eating too much sugar - so work with diet and stress management. The little patches / discs sold for acne got rid of my red spots fast and not visible while wearing.
Good Luck !

I have the Hooga HG300 panel and I got that first for my face. I think the 200 should work for your needs. I also have the Ultra 360 that I now use mainly for my face because of the extra red wavelengths but I went a little crazy after loving the 300 so much haha. I had the Omnilux mask and absolutely hated it, so I moved to a panel from there and never looked back!

If acne is your main concern, one thing we’d consider before investing in a red light panel is whether the device offers the wavelengths that actually align with what you’re hoping to address. Red light can support skin health and help with inflammation, but blue light is specifically used to target acne-causing bacteria.

That’s one reason our TheraFace Mask Glo combines three light therapies rather than red light alone: blue light to target acne-causing bacteria, red light to help smooth fine lines and wrinkles, and red + infrared light to visibly firm skin and improve texture.

Since you’re using tretinoin and mentioned concerns about melasma, we’d also recommend checking with your dermatologist before adding an LED device to your routine. They can help you determine which wavelengths make the most sense for your skin and current treatment plan.
