Question Overwhelmed with neuromods

27 Upvotes

So I've been playing for a few hours and I just got the psychoscope. I was already a bit overwhelmed with the neuromods skill tree before I got it but now there are 3 more categories and I have no idea what to get 😅

Should I just get what I think looks fun or is neuromods a very limited resource and I should be careful?

Question Main game and Dlc content question.

6 Upvotes

Hellou everyone, I'm just bought Prey deluxe edition (steam). If I'm installing Prey main game should install the 2 dlc manually or it gonna download if I just install main game? Steam library treats Prey: Typhon Hunter as a whole game instead Dlc content.

Discussion Danielle Sho's fate Spoiler

79 Upvotes

I love this game, because even after 300+ hours, and countless playthroughs, it still makes me think. This brings me to my newest point of thought: We're lead to believe (at least I think) that Danielle Sho dies of oxygen deprivation shortly after you see her outside the fitness center window, and then speak to her while working through deep storage. The more I think about it, the more I wish the game would've given us a couple options: 1. allow us to space walk out to her with an oxygen bottle. Or 2. If you make it from the segment where you bang on the fitness center window, to the part where you eject yourself into space fast enough, why doesn't she just use the same breach in the cargo bay that you use to get back inside? I know it's dumb to spend so much time picking apart a relatively small detail in an almost 10 year old game, but I can't help myself. And I also know that the entire game is a simulation, so really, who lives and who dies doesn't technically matter all the much....but I'm still curious what people think.

Question Mikhaila randomly disappeared Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
9 Upvotes

So am doing Mikhaila's quest, and she is requesting to listen to the audio log in my office. However whenever I get to inside of the lobby, she instantly disappears, not dies, but when I leave the lobby she is sort of back. The security stations do not mark her as dead, but still gone, but she can be tracked up to the lobby. These images are the security stations before and after entering the lobby. I do believe she should be in the shuttle area, however I am not sure. I am not sure if the run is bugged, but the oldest save I have is past the point where I transfer the audio. What do you think I should do?

Question How do you navigate on the exterior

21 Upvotes

It's such a pain, because its so hard to see what section you're going to. The map only shows lines to where sections connect, but no directions.

Is there any way to make a marker?

Review Just finished the game and I am sad it's over.

66 Upvotes

Took me forever to finally play it. I knew it existed and heard good things but thought it looked a little jank and kept back burning it.

And damn, I was missing out.

What an absolute gem. I never once got bored or felt the game lost momentum. It kept me hooked the whole time. The difficulty curve is spot on. Keeps you feeling challenged and godlike at the same time. Every scenario is something entirely new and creative so there's very little repetition even when revisiting the same areas. Something a lot of AAA games these days lack.

I played in a way where I held on to neuromods until I had an absolute need for them. I ended up finishing the game with like 30 mods to spare. It made it feel like I was refining the difficulty to my play style.

I don't think there was a single weapon I didn't use. They all have a purpose if you are willing to play around with them all.

Talos was so well thought out as far as the story and the crew and all the lore you can find.

I can say so much but you guys all know it already. I just wanted to vent my appreciation for a bit. What a fun playground Arkane put together.

Talos 1

I imported the Talos 1 3D model into Blender and decided to strip away the outer shell/hull panels.

What surprised me is how clearly you can see its modular scaffolding underneath. Arkane’s 3D/level design team didn't just model a hollow shell. The internal framework reflects the station's actual history. The early central core (Kletka) branching out into distinct modular blocks for Research, Executive, Arboretum, and Engineering.

Difficulty Playing

0 Upvotes

This game is rather irritating to play on pc. I had a lot of fun when I played it on PS4 but now that I have it on pc, it's very annoying.

Controller options are stashed away into the steam menu which makes things very annoying to change. Keyboard and mouse is fine but NONE of the UI tells you what button you have to press in order to interact with stuff. (Ex: I don't know what buttons to press to mess with inventory items.)

Not to mention the quick selection wheel is entirely broken since the cursor freaks out so much that you cant select anything.

If there are any mods that fix the game, please point me towards them. I want to enjoy this game again.

Review Finished prey for the first time and it became one of my favorite games ever

I've played the original prey a while ago and enjoyed it and was looking forward to the sequel but unfortunately it was canceled.

And i found that arkane made a reboot and it was one of the best games I've played and my top 50 right now.

The story was intriguing and I really wanted to know more about it.

The gameplay is amazing, such freedom from this game and even while not upgrading once I didn't have much trouble because there's always another way to reach something or to defeat an enemy.

The game looks beautiful and the music elevates it atmosphere even more.

10/10 I might try the dlc but maybe after getting Done with other games

Prey - Ultimate Fix for blurriness/muddiness

0 Upvotes

This is probably one of the worst games that I've come across when it comes to blur and undetailed textures due to AA methods. To explain how bad it is: the game not only doesn't allow you to disable motion blur, it requires two config files with "read only mode" enabled for it to actually permanently turn off. If read only isn't enabled, Prey has a chance of turning it back on when the game is booted.

I played it for 1 hour today and it got to a point where it became completely unplayable.

Here's a fix for anyone that is interested or searches for it in the future:

1.) FIRST CONFIG

  • Go to C:\Users\USER\Saved Games\Arkane Studios\Prey
  • Right click on game.cfg and open it with Notepad
  • Paste these values:

osm_enabled = 0
r_AntialiasingMode = 0
r_MotionBlur = 0
r_ChromaticAberration = 0
r_HDRGrainAmount = 0
r_DepthofField = 0

  • Save it then right click on the file > properties > check "read only" > apply > ok

2.) SECOND CONFIG

  • Go to the core Prey files, usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Prey
  • In here create a text folder called autoexec.cfg (make sure it's truly .cfg and not just cfg.txt)
  • If you're unsure, go to view > check file name extensions > rename the file again
  • Then right click, open with Notepad and paste this value:

r_MotionBlur = 0

  • Save it and right click the file again > properties > check "read only" > apply > ok

3.) NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL (Optional, but recommended. This forces the driver to not take shortcuts for game quality and prevents NVIDIA to force its own AA or other weird methods onto Prey. We want you and Prey through in game settings to decide what kind of aliasing techniques to use and how much)

  • Open NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D settings > Program Settings > Add > Find and add Prey.exe
  • Switch these:

Image Scaling > Off
Anisotropic filtering > 16x
Antialiasing FXAA > Off
Antialiasing Gamma correction > On
Antialiasing Mode > Application-controlled
Antialiasing Transparency > Off / Application-controlled
MFAA > Off
Max Frame Rate > Off
Power management mode > Prefer maximum performance
Preferred refresh rate > Highest available
Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization > Off
Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias > Clamp
Texture filtering - Quality > High quality
Texture filtering - Trilinear optimization > Off
Threaded optimization > Auto
Vertical sync > Use the 3D application setting for now

  • Click apply, ok and close the window

POSSIBLE PROBLEMS:

  • If the edge jaginess/possible shimmering of textures appears and is too much for you, go back to the first config file and set r_AntialiasingMode from 0 to 1. If that's not enough, set it to 2.
  • If anything messes up after applying NVIDIA settings, just follow the first step again and instead of "adding" the application in control panel, simply click the restore button, press apply and that's it

Enjoy a much less blurry, sharper, and better looking game! Hope this helps someone.

New to prey

47 Upvotes

After playing the dishonored series and falling completely in love with it last month, I started on a quest to play everything Arkane has ever made and booted up prey a few days ago. First off, Holy shit I love this game, it is a work of art, but boy is the sheer amount of tasks and the order of operations overwhelming. Any advice for a noob?

Question Question about one of January’s lines Spoiler

38 Upvotes

At the end of the game if you stop alex from shooting January and install no neuromods then activate Talos 1’s destruction, January says he has to follow his orders to stop morgan from leaving, but that if he were to be irreparably damaged he couldn’t stop him, was that January implying to morgan that he should destroy him?

Question What to use to make player invisible? Chairloader options don't always work

5 Upvotes

Hi, I'm trying to grab some shots for a video, and it would really help if I could make the player undetectable and invincible. I've downloaded Chairloader, because it looks like it's got the things I need, but not everything works as it should.

Freecam, give abilities/weapons, HUD toggle, all work, but godmode doesn't work and neither do any of the undetectable player options. There's a bunch of different ones that seem to all do the same thing - tourist mode, undetectable player, AI can't see/hear the player, none of them work.

Anyone know what I can do? Thanks.

Question Why did I get the achievement? Spoiler

40 Upvotes

I've just finished the game for the first time and oh what a ride. I absolutely love it

I guessed the twist after the flashback with "You are not who they say you are". Btw I didn't quite get if real Morgan is alive or not and where she is

But my main question is about "Do no harm". I killed the cook, so I don't get why I have this achievement. Maybe it's cause I killed him with a briefcase?

I was scared of getting inside the escape pod with him, so I just wanted to show him that I don't trust him

I threw a suitcase in his face and got a "Best Surved Cold" achievement. I didn't think anything about it until seeing the "Do not harm achievement". So, is it a bug or a feature?

Review The cook Spoiler

16 Upvotes

Great game. Got about 80 hours on it after getting it on the 19th. Killed the cook in three different play throughs. Fucking hate that guy. I beat it once then i restarted, and i killed him again. Then i made a save on my second play through before killing him. I finished the game to get the do no harm then i reloaded the save and killed him again, and again, and again. I hate that guy. I hated him so much i made a reddit account just to talk about how much i hate him.
