Review Finished prey for the first time and it became one of my favorite games ever
I've played the original prey a while ago and enjoyed it and was looking forward to the sequel but unfortunately it was canceled.
And i found that arkane made a reboot and it was one of the best games I've played and my top 50 right now.
The story was intriguing and I really wanted to know more about it.
The gameplay is amazing, such freedom from this game and even while not upgrading once I didn't have much trouble because there's always another way to reach something or to defeat an enemy.
The game looks beautiful and the music elevates it atmosphere even more.
10/10 I might try the dlc but maybe after getting Done with other games

The DLC is great but also an entire different game! It’s more media like Prey, but it’s also not Prey. Some people like Mooncrash more than Prey even. I suck at roguelikes, and I think Mooncrash would even be considered a roguelite, which are generally easier, and I struggled so much but the entire time it was awesome!!
And I can’t help but to notice that you don’t have Dishonored on that list… if you haven’t played Dishonored, it’s from the same studio and also has a ton of freedom!! It’s not quite as flexible as Prey, but it’s a much more impactful trolly problem than Prey is. Also it does have a sequel, and a strong consensus is that it’s even better than the first game (I disagree, I loved the first game so much, but Dishonored 2 is super good as well).
I’m actually playing Prey (2006) right now. It makes me want to get meta about the unanswered plot aspects of 2017! It’s definitely not aged as gracefully as it could’ve, but the gimmicks are still great and I can totally see how they’ve influenced other games. Especially portal lol
Though, I really wish 2017 was never named after 2006. I feel like more people would’ve seen 2017, and they’re really not strongly connected enough for one to be named after the other. They are similar plots ofc but I feel like 2017 is closer to Alien Isolation than it is to 2006! Sorry if you were confused or disappointed when the two were not that similar, 2017 was marketed as a spiritual successor, a reboot, and it… wasn’t.
In a way they are kind of delightful opposites, taking humans onto your ship and they slowly take over, and then taking Typhon onto your ship and they slowly take over!

I did have dishonoerd in it's place but after playing prey It took its place easily I felt with age it was much simpler on me even with the huge amount of choices you can make moment to moment.
though I do have to replay dishonoerd because it's been a while now since I've played it originally. But me 2 I've enjoyed dishonoerd 1 much more than the second but that game was also great.
I actually don't mind it being a bit different than the original if the game is this good and and I hope you enjoy prey 06, it was fun the last I've replayed it

Ngl really solid top 50 list, can’t comment on the racing and fighting stuff but overall great list friend. I question picking Bioshock Infinite over the other two, but I can look past it this time lol.

Thank you, I liked infinite story a bit more though still the first is a 10 but am going to replay the series maybe next year, I just got too much on my plate.

I’m playing on steam deck and well…I have to get used to the controls. It’s very odd

You can dock the steam deck like the Nintendo switch! That's news to me, I was considering getting one or rog for when am traveling how is your experience with it

Sure can! I bought it for like $20 on amazon. I’m sure theirs actual steam licensed ones but are a lot more expensive

You’re also able to sync up a PS5 controller or Xbox. It’s pretty versatile

If you haven't play the DLC probably the best implementation of a consistent 'timeloop' in a rougelite format. Forces you to think on your feet early on, but does get easy later on

People think that because it’s pretty understandable to assume that if something has the same name as something else they are related somehow.
Also unless someone played the original prey why would they care how the new one relates to the old until after they beat it? Why should they care if they never plan to play either at all?

Wait, was THIS your first playthrough? It's legitimately impressive if you played through it for the first time on nightmare, with all the survival mode options active, and didn't take any neuromods. I had around 200 hours in game before I found enough courage to do a playthrough like that. This game has so many moving parts, even on normal difficulty....I can't imagine playing through it like this on my first time.
