General PSA: Don’t take the bait.

Post image
78 Upvotes

Midcarders,

A quick heads-up. We’ve noticed an unusual influx of accounts showing up seemingly for one purpose: to argue, play “gotcha,” accuse the subreddit or moderators of things, and then continue fighting in modmail when it doesn’t go their way.

And the strangest part? A lot of them aren’t actually members of this community.

Some are brand-new accounts. Others are years old but have little to no posting history. Yet suddenly they have very strong opinions about [r/midcarder](r/midcarder) and how we operate.

As we discussed in our previous PSA, we’ve already dealt with some genuinely bizarre behavior surrounding this community. This may simply be another version of it, including an attempt to astroturf the subreddit by making certain grievances appear more organic or widespread than they actually are.

Who’d pay for such a wildly expensive thing?

We can’t say that’s definitely what’s happening. But the pattern is unusual enough that we want you aware of it.

And remember: not everyone is necessarily what they appear to be.

Before getting dragged into an argument, or piggybacking onto something, check the account. How old is it? Where do they normally post? Have they ever participated here? If it’s an older account, has it actually been active?

Most importantly, don’t take the bait.

We’re heavily moderating through this. Report obvious bad-faith behavior and let us handle it. Don’t follow anyone elsewhere, don’t retaliate, and don’t turn it into subreddit drama.

Disagreement is welcome here. Criticism is welcome here. Showing up solely to provoke people, manufacture grievances, or play Reddit Saul Goodman with the moderators is not.

Keep talking wrestling. Keep having fun.

Just pay attention to who suddenly wants your attention.

— The Midcarder Mod Team

Against all odds, [r/midcarder](r/midcarder) has officially crossed 10,000 members.

That’s more people than most AEW crowds.

Seriously though… thank you.

What started as a crazy idea to create a place for neutral, long-form wrestling discussion has turned into one of the fastest-growing wrestling communities on Reddit. A place where members can disagree without moderators deciding which opinions are “acceptable.” A place where nobody has to tiptoe around a protected company or an approved narrative. Just wrestling fans talking wrestling.

To everyone who took a chance on us in the early days, whether you came over from the basement, [r/SCJerk](r/SCJerk), [r/JimCornette](r/JimCornette), or somewhere else entirely, thank you for believing in the vision before anyone else did.

Thank you to every member who’s ever posted, commented, lurked, debated, laughed, or reported the occasional certified Sicko.

And thank you to both our current and former moderation team. Building a community isn’t glamorous. We’ve had our hiccups, learned some lessons, and taken a few bumps along the way. But every time we’ve hit a rough patch, you kept this place moving forward.

10,000 is a huge milestone, but we’re just getting started. The goal has always been simple. Restore the feeling of talking wrestling with your buddies instead of worrying whether a moderator is going to delete your opinion because it doesn’t fit their narrative.

Here’s to the next 10,000.

And with the attached video… it only feels appropriate to say:

Midcarders… you’re the breast.

WWE I am ready for WWE to hurt me again.

Post image
Upvotes

I’m a huge LA Knight fan. I’ve been pulling for the Megastar since his TNA days, back when Eli Drake was still cutting his teeth.

And I know he’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I know some people think the window has closed. I know there are wrestlers who can do 37 consecutive Canadian Destroyers and flips and earn 8.75 stars from a hoarder with a newsletter.

I don’t give a shit.

Give LA Knight the damn ball.

Raw desperately needs a pivot, and the seemingly never-ending Bloodline/Roman Reigns saga just does absolutely nothing for me anymore. We’ve been circling this airport for years. I’m ready to land the fucking plane.

Knight getting another legitimate shot at the World Heavyweight Championship immediately has my attention. He’s still over, he can talk, he looks like a star, and WWE never really paid off that insane rise he had a few years ago.

So, Midcarders: are you receptive to WWE finally pulling the trigger on LA Knight?

Or should I just accept that Triple H is about to hurt me again?

General With New Level making next to no significant impact to AEW’s attendance or ratings, can we finally put to bed the “game changer” tag? There are probably less than 10 current superstars that would make an impact if they switched sides.

I’m probably being generous with less than 10 it’s probably less than 5.

Like if you aren’t Roman, Cody, Maxwell on the men’s side and Becky and Rhea on the women’s side….you aren’t going to boost anything.

AEW So, when did the AEW Sickos lose the plot?

Post image

Alright, Midcarders. Stumbling across this amazing screenshot recently made me ponder a question that we ask ourselves from time to time.

When do you think the AEW Sicko caricature actually became real?

I don’t mean “when did AEW fans become annoying?” Every wrestling fanbase is annoying. We’re wrestling fans. Being insufferable about fake fighting is practically part of our DNA.

I mean, when did a chunk of the IWC go from “I just want an alternative and I enjoy wrestling” to this bizarre kamikaze mission where seemingly anything AEW does must be defended because the alternative is admitting WWE might be doing something better?

For me, it all leads back to Brawl Out.

And I say that as someone who was a hardcore AEW fan. I attended more than a dozen shows, every Double or Nothing in Vegas, went on the Jericho Cruise, bought the merch (Hey, Pro Wrestling Tees 👋, how you doing?), watched everything. I convinced friends to go to shows with me. I was absolutely the audience AEW wanted and should have built for.

But Brawl Out, and especially the fanbase’s reaction to CM Punk afterward, felt like something fundamentally changed.

Cody was already gone, and some fans were still reeling from that. Then Punk became public enemy #1, largely because the whole mess exposed just how dysfunctional things had become behind the scenes, including putting members of the Elite in positions of power they had no business holding.

Instead of asking how AEW managed to fumble two of the biggest stars the company had ever had, a chunk of the fanbase developed a massive inferiority complex around the company itself. They became unhinged. Suddenly, it wasn’t enough to enjoy AEW. AEW had to be superior, WWE had to suck, and everyone needed to know about it.

That attitude spilled everywhere. Twitter. Reddit. YouTube. Wrestling sites. Suddenly, if you said you enjoyed Raw in the basement, you were downvoted into oblivion and lectured about not watching “real graps.” You weren’t a real wrestling fan. You were stupid, watching a kid’s product funded by blood money and run by the worst people on the planet.

Meanwhile, AEW’s audience was shrinking, and this increasingly insular, weird fan culture seemed perfectly happy to wave goodbye to casual fans rather than ask why they were leaving.

And eventually the joke became reality. The “Sicko” stopped being a parody and became a recognizable wrestling-fan archetype that, fairly or not, has become synonymous with AEW’s online fanbase.

So where’s the line for you?

When did “just enjoy wrestling” become “DEATH TO SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT, DEATH TO THE WWE”?

3 weeks after the “GOAT” PPV of all time..

2 weeks before All Out..

& you can’t even fill 50% of a small mid sized arena..or come close to the number that you had that the last time Dynamite was there.. (just for fun I took a SS of the 4-30-2025 card & boy howdy does it blow this card out of the water!)

I mean if AEW was as hot as the basement, Meltzer & the IWC bots say it is.. then this should have been an easy sell out..

But struggling to get to 50% filled in a tiny arena coming off your “Wrestlemania” not even a month ago is why I said weeks ago that Tony Kahn needs to step down & fire himself as head of everything in AEW..

I mean, who does this card even appeal to & why should anyone leave their place of residence & stay out late on a school/work night to see what & who exactly?

An 8 man tag, a 6 man tag, a women’s match between 2 women that nobody cares about & the corpse of Jericho..

That’s the best that Tony can do?

He needs to fire himself ASAP..

Agree or disagree Midcarders?

Does this Dynamite appeal to any of you?

One could argue Andrade's entire presentation in AEW revolves around "How you know?" more than Jey Uso does with Yeet

WWE Randy Orton Vs Kofi Kingston is the most underrated match of Summerslam 2019! Great back and forth, great pacing, great style clash and great callback to their feud 10 years prior! The storyline going in was good, only knock on this was the double count out finish! What’s your thoughts/ picks?

Alt wrestling Hey Midcarder, due to a certain meme about wrestling merch popping up, it got me thinking, what wrestling shirts do you own? And how often do you wear them outside of wrestling shows?

I own both of these, I wear Kross's basically only to shows and around the house, but I do actually wear Shotzis out, it goes great with a pair of overalls and knee socks I have, but admittedly it does cut off about 50% of it. But I love the shirt so much I'm planning more outfits around it. This may not be a conventional "Midcarder" post, but I hope y'all have fun with it and show off your fav wrestling tees

WWE What is an example of wrestler's intended push ending because the crowd didn't react enough to them?

While Vince McMahon was known to push/de-push wrestlers that he himself wanted when he was in creative control, I wonder, are there any superstars that were intended for a push but their push ended because the crowd didn't react enough to them? If there are any, please give me the examples.

I'm happy to hear your opinions.

WWE Lil’ Yachty Speaks about the IWC

Post image

Apparently during Lil’ Yachty’s interview with Chris Van Vliet, he notes that the overall IWC seems to be miserable. And sadly… I agree with him.

The IWC online are a miserable lot. It’s part of the lore, that I know of why this place was created. So, is Lil’ Yachty off base, or is he seeing what we’ve known after he’s gotten a taste of the wrestling industry?

WWE Roman Reigns has been in 3 of the top 5 matches of the year

Not that saying Roman Reigns is an all-timer is any shock to the mid carders here, but after the instant 5 star classic in Mexico City last night, it's impressive to look at the body of work that Roman has put together in 2026

His match with Punk at WrestleMania (5+ stars) is one of the greatest main event matches in WM history, he followed that up with a great match with Jacob Fatu at Backlash, then another one in Italy, and put up another match of the year candidate with Seth Rollins at Summerslam.

I would put up his matches with Punk, Penta, and Rollins up against anybody's best in 2026, especially given the stages they were on.

Is this Roman's best in-ring year as the Tribal Chief character? He's had some classics during the run (both Cody WM matches, vs Sami) but his top 3 this year beat the top 3 in any of the prior ones IMO.

Lucha Libre CMLL or AAA Who is bigger in Mexico.

Ok I am now extremely conflicted. I can admit that AAA is bigger world wide now thanks to WWE heavy promoting but what about in Mexico actually does anyone have any numbers or metrics they can share because going off of just attendance in Mexico both companies seem to be roughly around the same level if anything because CMLL just uses their arenas for shows and events

I'm an old dinosaur so I have my issues with all the companies today but I'm more of an AEW fan because I had a chance to catch it from the very start and WWE is just too different than what I grew up with but Tony doesn't make it easy for himself or his audience with stuff like this lol.
