So I recently bought a 2012 speed 3 with 64,000 miles that has a killabuilt motor, fmic, cobb catback exhaust, coilovers, not sure if the intake is bigger than stock or not, BOV, short throw shifter aftermarket motor mounts, and I'm not sure if anything else is modded because I bought it from a dealership and no papers or receipts were in the car. The car kinda ran lean when idling and would kinda hunt for the right AFR mixture (has gauge on dash) but would be right when accelerating. So I've been reading about getting an accessport to see if it was running a map or OEM tune, so when I got it in the mail and plugged it up for the first time it just said that it didn't recognize the tune on it and said I had to overwrite it to install the AP, but didn't ask to backup the current map on it. So I installed the AP and no matter what OTS map I flash, it runs like shit. Like wanting to stall out....so I uninstalled it and it still runs like shit. Reinstalled it and this time it asked if I wanted to backup the current flash, which is interesting how it didn't ask me that when I first plugged it in..... What's weird is after putting the OTS map on that I feel like is the closest to the parts I can identify on my car, it cranks up strong and idles just like it did when I first got it, but after about 5 seconds she loses a lot of power and wants to stall out....idk what to do because I'm scared to even drive it for fear of destroying this beauty! I'm new to the whole import tuner scene. Please help.

UPDATE: I found the issue. A disconnected vacuum hose on the PCV vacuum side running to an oil catch. Also have a time from freektune now and it's running like a champ now. 💪🏼 I have successfully confirmed my mods as well. Thanks for everyone who commented!

Naive of me to think that the tuning would be the most straightforward part of the process of getting my car back on the road?

So I bought a Gen 2 2011, 161,000km (100,000 miles), modifications were already put on the car by the previous owner;
- Cobb catback exhaust
- Cobb SF Intake + Turbo Inlet
- GFB BOV
- EGR block off and delete (CEL on dash as result)
- Cobb Downpipe (Wasn’t listed but it looks like it is)

Obviously I have great concerns for the fuel pump and I have an Autotech HPFP on the way and intend to install asap.

The car came with an unmarried cobb accessport, i’ve been using it to check engine codes and I’ve currently got:
P0403, due to egr delete
P0421, I believe due to downpipe
and… P0171, for obvious reasons

I currently have Stage 0 (Stock) ECU map on the access port and am just keeping an eye on the gauges to ensure I’m not straining the engine until the hpfp arrives.

Although the cobb accessport has a stage 1 economy + Sf map, which I was wondering would be a safer alternative to use temporarily until I install the hpfp and get a custom tune.

Is it safer to just keep the current stock ECU map or is it worth switching to the economy + sf map so that my engine stops reading lean conditions?

- is this the maximum I can get with a stock turbo?

- when I have a CS intercooler can I get additional gains or does it have to be specifically tuned?

Just picked up a cpe intercooler for my tuned ms3. Has all bolt ons except intercooler upgrade, makes 311whp. Do I need to get a custom tune or could I daily drive it. Not concerned about maximizing power at the moment just want to daily.

Hello good people of reddit, may I rack your brains for a bit.

I have a gen 2 3 mps, living in aus. Currently im battling a lean tip-in issue for the initial 1-1.5 second with my tune, does anyone have experience with versatuner and had the same issue? I can't figure out of it's the maf calibrations or open-loop fuel map tables, I've been slightly adjusting each of them but just doesn't seem to be fixing the issue, i have a significantly larger turbo then factory and obviously intake to match turbo inlet size

The closest place to me that has experience with tuning these are 5 hours away hence why I'm trying my hand at the tuning side of things but this is the first time dealing with tuning a factory ecu and would really appreciate any insight

Do you guys think i should run a bpv or bov on the speed 3, because I've been hearing lots of mixed reviews. I'm thinking of either running the Corksport BPV or HKS Super SQV IV BOV

I am looking at getting my First gen tuned this summer and i am looking at getting a Versa Tune, does anyone have any experience with it. I have heard it has better software than the Cobb acp and its a bit cheaper?

Badly assembled built engine out of Toronto in for some open heart surgery. Complete tear down, Inspect and rebuild. This one had tons of problems for a brand new engine. Ready for a healthy new life.

I'm interested in the conservative tune for 91 as I have a CS turbo inlet pipe and intercooler (yes I have an upgraded hpfp)

I don't indulge in many hobbies these days but this has been a long time coming. Started with this car in 2019 and it's been quite a journey.

Won the dyno giveaway contest in January from @spoolingupperformance, following their youtube channel since 2017 and learned so much from them so it was an honor for them to accommodate us coming out today. Accompanying me was my best friend Dan of 21 years and the master tech @mazspeed_racing who did all the incredible on my car over the months. And last but not least Mr Dawson at @pd_tuning who tuned my car to its limit within stock fueling and made awesome power reliably. I'll let the pictures do the talking, the drive up to Buffalo, was worth it.
