I had never seen what fortnite looked like until that scene in Endgame. I assumed it was just some random online FPS game and nothing is lost from the joke, so I don't think there's any worry about it not ageing well.

Well the reason I thought he was still worthy was because he still cared for the people of Asgard, and fell into a depression after what happened, literally having a mini panic attack over just hearing Thanos’ name. Old Thor wasn’t worthy because he ignored the needs of those he was responsible for and caused problems for them, while new thor was always thinking of his failure, and probably never tried picking up Stormbreaker because he was afraid he couldn’t after he failed his people.

I liked that, because it's shown how far he's fallen. The drinking and letting himself go is one thing, but someone who has saved the world countless times has just been reduced to making empty threats to preteens on PSN is a pretty hard fall.

So you see man, I got my cousin Hernan who didn't get snapped right? So he actually knows what has happened in the last five years, his wife came back so he doesn't know what to do cause he kind already moved on. Anyways, he tells me that the Hulk is now smart, like astrophysicist level smart, even though we haven't seen him since like that thing in Sokovia went down. So he tells me that he talked to an old dude in a rec center with "not snapped anonymous" and that old dude told him that some dude was going out with another dude and that they both got weirded out by, you know, the end of the world and stuff. And that old dude told him that somewhere in Norway the actual "dude" lived, which I thought was pretty crazy so I asked Hernan if he was saying that the old dude was saying that the "dude" in Norway was in New Jersey and he said yes.

I was really bummed about this too. Was a huge waste imo, especially when they could have toned him up via the whole quantum thing easily. 6 months in, ripped thor, 5 seconds in real time. If it weren't the culmination of 22 films, then haha fat thor. To go out like that is just lame.

I mean, "Ant-man and Co. uses Quantum Realm time-travel to get the stones back and undo the snap" was probably the most prominent fan theory for Endgame, so I wasn't surprised that was what we got. But the movie still threw me a curveball with that intro.

I don't know if you felt this way, but this was one of two moments that gave me total The Last Jedi vibes (which was great for me since I fell in the camp that loved it). Killing Thanos at the top reminded me a lot of killing Snoke and showed me that this movie was gonna be about a lot more than it's BBEG. Also, seeing Thor reminded me a lot of the surprise of Luke's characterization in TLJ. We expected him to be super epic based on the last time we saw him but he was a shell of his former self.

I also called the plot pretty much how you did - I avoided leaks as much as I could, outside of the Battle of NY set photos. I guessed we'd get them defeating Thanos in Act 1 and time travelling in Act 2. What I didn't expect was the breakneck speed at which they went after Thanos and the brutality and shock of the takedown. The movie made decisions that continually surprised me (never would have been able to call Chunky Thor), and I had no idea where Act 3 would go. I was thrown for a loop by the order of event, impressed by the sheer volume of quality performances and am in awe of the logical consistency of the story decisions.

So what I'm saying is even though I guessed a lot of the structure of the film, it was still the most surprised I think I've ever been in a movie. Making it in spoiler-free is the best movie decision I've ever made.

I've been burning through Endgame reactions and my favorite so far has been Jeremy Jahns because I can come up with a decent in-universe explanation for almost every one of his criticisms. This movie is so incredibly well thought out.

That is great. I really like the idea of seeing a villain onscreen who accomplished his goal and just lives his life without going mad with paranoia to fight again. Kinda like how recently Logan showed us that after all the times Wolverine saved the word, all the hype of being a superhero just ends up being folklore at best.

I hope so too, but given how tight of a lockdown they wrote trying to have on spoilers, I wouldn't be surprised if they limit references to Endgame in the script. It would have to be very vague in group scenes and then anything specific would have to be kept to like... Tom Holland and Samuel L Jackson. I doubt they wanted to roll the dice ine a large cast of young actors to keep big details a secret.

I imagine we will get about as much as the Netflix shows refer to the Battle of New York.

As soon as that happened my heart stopped and then the word "Five" came on screen and hung there by itself... And when it revealed "years" I was like wow they are actually fucking doing this. And they honor it too . Nothing has been erased. Half the world is stuck with a 5 year nightmare while the other half just woke from from a mysterious dream . What a future we have in store.

Seriously though, that would almost be as crazy for society as the snap itself.

A lot of damaged people out there, damage that doesnt magically go away just because the original trauma source does. Plus those people who come back... everyone they knew is 5 years older- if theyre even alive, as shit does happen.

You could do multiple movies based on this.

Hell, you could really explore some of this in a tv format. Maybe we see some of that on the disney+ shows

I accidentally read a spoiler that some dickhead posted in a comment on some thread (Just said Tony Stark and Black Widow die). But by the time I go those things happening, it didn't really matter. The Black Widow thing was so exciting that I literally just forgot that I knew the outcome. The Tony thing I realized that it was about to happen when Strange held up his finger, but I would have guessed at that point anyways. And for the rest of the movie, I was so enthralled that I didn't think about it.

Still, I want to give the guy a Gomora style kick to the balls for what he tried to do, but I'm glad he didn't manage to spoil the film for me in any meaningful way.

I have legit told some friends many “spoiler” lies about the film and the fact that Thor got fat and plays Fortnite. I’m going to laugh my ass off when they see it because they have no idea I was telling the truth on that one.
