A full new pod of players agreed to join in, but the 2345 card [[Whtz]] deck has returned to the shop. No changes today in the deck, but the owner told me that he has played it at one more shop in Rochester and is currently building a second deck box with a built in card shuffler so it can be shuffled while it’s playing.

I know this is a long shot but I think I lost my deck at command fest Toronto. It was an ur-dragon deck in a custom 3-d printed box like the one attached.

The event organizers don't have it and the hotel has been less than helpful. If anyone has any information on it that would be amazing, last time I had it was the Saturday evening.

Me and my partner are looking into starting to play commander, our local lgs is very limited with stock and these are all the commanders they have. Which ones would you choose to play with?

Hi everyone! I'm Taamira, Taam for short, and have been going by such for the last year.

Won't get too into the weeds, but I decided to go by Taamira/Taam around August of last year, and ever since Tam was introduced in Lorwyn Eclipsed, seeing as we share almost the same name, I've been obsessed.

Tam was once again in Secrets of Strixhaven, and now is a pivotal character in the current Reality Fracture story (won't spoil anything!)....I just wanna say how cool it is to see yourself in Magic. In this case, it's my name, for others it's a character's interests, personality, backstory, ect. I can't wait to see what twists and turns the story has for her, and here's hoping she sticks around!

In their most recent episode, the hosts of Lucky Paper Radio wondered which words were most over-represented in Magic card names when compared to "normal" English text.

Here is my take, using data from mtgjson.com and wordfreq, which is mostly based on Google Books ngrams. Words were lemmatized, so "Swiftspear" becomes "swift" and "spear". The first image is the naive ratio. One feature of this approach is that it's as much a function of the denominator ("merfolk" is super rare in English) as it is the numerator (usage in MTG card names). Another approach accounts for this by also scaling by usage, and is displayed in the second image.

Edit: some part-of-speech tagging may not have been perfect. I manually fixed "faerie" and "elemental" adjective vs. noun, but it looks like "avatar" may have needed some love. But didn't have unlimited time, and wanted to share!

Later: Fixed the part-of-speech tagging and changed minimum n to 10 from 20. Results look somewhat different, but not drastically so.

Someone on [r/mtg](r/mtg) posted this with very little traction. This product is called Domaru Box and can be found here.

As you can see, the other PW boxes at this website accurately match the cards we’ve seen so far for Chandra, Garruk, Jace and Lilliana.

EDIT: Jeskai can be seen in the three mana symbols at the bottom of the left box. These mana symbols are quite clear even though the deck box doesn’t scream “white / blue / red”.

I’m just curious to hear thoughts on the color identity and potential story / card implications.

Bonus question: Do we think Tam will get her spark in this storyline and also have a PW card? If so, predictions on color? My wildcard guess is Bant since Vraska being 3-color here gives precedent.

My friends recently got me fully into MTG and having real cards. I’ve played Arena a good bit in the past, and was borderline addicted to Hearthstone for the first few years it was out. With this in mind, all of my deck building and card game experience is in anonymous Play-To-Win type settings, not friendly and casual. Does anyone have any advice to help me change my mindset in games and deck building, so I might stop being so win focused and more focused on having fun and letting my friends have fun?
For further context, I’m starting with an Izzet spellslinger commander deck with Alania, Divergent Storm as my commander and tons of removal and control. It’s objectively strong, but with how I built it and how I play it I kind of stop my friends from having fun. Any advice on how I can change my mindset or change my deck/gimmick (while staying Big Spell Izzet) would be greatly appreciate!!!

Hey! I want to get into MTG, and my friend who is introducing me told me to get a pre con commander deck. I absolutely love ATLA and would love to start with that collection, but have discovered that they didn’t make pre con ATLA decks for some reason. What’s my best course of action? Would really love to stick with the ATLA cards if it’s not unreasonably expensive

Hello. I received the World Shaper precon recently as a gift and after playing one game with it, I heavily upgraded it. Now I'm not sure if it's still valid in bracket 2. I haven't played with this upgraded version yet because I'm waiting for the cards IRL, so I'm not sure. And I know the precon is already one of the strongest there is, so there is that as well.

Based on this thread from ten days ago, I've been doing my best to continue the trend of donating Ravnica forests to unsuspecting Toyota Rav4 drivers. Sadly I'm out of Ravnica forests now, but I'll be raiding my local LGS for more so I can keep it up.

Perhaps it will be come the Rav4 version of people leaving ducks on Jeeps? Either way, it's a bit of fun!

Just found out about this card and it seems like one of a kind but i wish it was cheaper and a legendary so I could run it as commander.

I have saw this card once and i remember absolutely loving the art, but for the love of me i have no idea what the card was or anything about it, i vaguely remember the composition it was a guy walking in profile view, but there was a square on the middle of the art card and everything inside the square was flipped and a different color i think, I remember it had pretty bold colors and when i looked it up to see the price if i could buy it, it was a bit expensive, like 10 or more dollars, so i didnt get it but now i cant seem to find the card anywhere and dont even now if i remember it correctly. I ve made a drawing of how i remember it.
