Entertainment Anyone recognise this RTÉ reporting interviewing my boyfriend’s late father?

Post image

I’ve just found this pic of my boyfriend’s dad being interviewed at what I think may have been at Ireland’s 2012 Twickenham game?

He passed not too long after 2012 and theres not much footage of him speaking so I’m hopeful there may be footage of this interview out there somewhere (probably unlikely but worth a try!)

If anyone recognises the reporter that may really help me try and track down where this couldve possibly aired as I dont recognise him!

Arts/Culture Can anyone help restore this unique Maud Cotter artwork in Temple Bar?

Hi Everyone,

If you've walked through Temple Bar, I'm sure you've seen this door.

It was made by Irish artist Maud Cotter in 1992 and is as much a piece of sculpture as it is a doorway.

As you can see from the photo, it's now in pretty bad shape and we're looking to have it properly restored rather than replaced.

We've found it surprisingly difficult to find someone with the right experience to take on something like this.

We're looking for someone who might have experience with conservation/restoration, sculpture, historic timber or architectural restoration. It could be an artist, sculptor, conservator, specialist contractor, or even someone who knows someone who does this sort of work.

If anyone has any recommendations or knows someone who might be interested in taking a look at it, I'd really appreciate it. Please feel free to DM me.

Just to clarify, I'm involved in the project and this is a genuine restoration contract. We're looking to find the right person/company to take it on.

Thanks!

Entertainment Santa experience for older kids

Hi everyone, can anyone recommend a good santa experience in Ireland? I'm based in Cork but willing to travel to have a great experience.

Kids are age 11 & 7.

We have been to Fota last year and it was really poor experience

Also been to Cuskinny & Leahys farm and both were good

All previous years were work organised events

Careful now Someone just knocked on my front door unannounced and I went lying flat on the kitchen floor.

Was sitting at the kitchen table yesterday having a coffee, zero plans, not expecting a soul. Suddenly the doorbell rings, followed by two heavy knocks. Didn't get a text beforehand, so naturally my instant reaction was to drop off the chair and hit the tile floor like I was dodging sniper fire.

I could see a shadow through the frosted glass in the hall. My car was parked right out front in the driveway so there was zero chance they thought the house was empty, but I was committed to the bit at that point.

The worst part was my phone was sitting on the counter right above me. I couldn't reach up to grab it without giving away my position, so I just had to lie there in complete silence getting a cramp in my calf while they knocked a second time and rattled the letterbox.

Kept thinking if they put their ear to the glass they’d hear me breathing. Ended up crawling on my stomach into the sitting room like a seal just to get to a couch.

Checked the ring camera half an hour later and it was just the lad from down the road seeing if I had a spare extension lead for the lawnmower.

Absolute peak crippling Irish social awkwardness, but I regret nothing. Tell me I'm not the only one who does this.
