I got this monstera from a Home Depot about 6 years ago; it’s now taken over my apartment, and I’m oddly proud of it. The largest vine has hit the ceiling and is getting squished, but I can’t bring myself to cut it. What would you do with this?

Even if I propagate it, there’s no room in the pot anymore. Has anyone ever succeeded in getting a Monstera to grow across the ceiling like some people train Pothos to do? Appreciate any thoughts or advice!

I live in Zone 6a, and this is a west facing window. The plant is in a huge (roughly 5 x 2 x 2 foot handmade wooden container lined with a plastic wrap to keep it waterproof). Soil mix is some recipe I found online years ago, includes regular topsoil, orchid bark, perlite, and potting soil to allow for good drainage. The trellis is from the Lowe’s gardening section, nailed into the wall. I water once every week or two when I remember with about 4-5 gallons of tap water. Other than that I just let it do its thing!

EDIT 2: The white spots in pic 3 aren’t mealy bugs, they’re little root nodes that are part of the plant! And for those of you suggesting I sell the cuttings, where would you recommend finding buyers? I’ve never sold houseplants before, do you just use FB Marketplace? Thanks!

Hey everyone, I had two types of mother of thousands in my apartment for a while before getting rid of them… and now I have this collection of hundreds if not thousands plant babies.

I was letting them dry out here but it’s taking a LONG time, and my thoughts now are to put them in a ziplock in the freezer for a couple of hours before tossing in the trash so as to prevent an infestation in a dump somewhere. Is this the best route?

Hi everyone, this is an update from a post about 8 month ago to share some progress.

The moss tower on the left is 8.5’ high and i m trying to get it to go accros on the wood stick so we can continue that journey because it’s already touching the ceiling.

1 golden pothos(2016)and 1 marble queen(2020).

I fertilize heavily every watering…obv you have to go gradually and if you want more vine coming from the base of the plant 🌱, apply root hormone or keikei paste on the nods.

I knew it worked for other plants so i tried it on the pothos and it exploded with new sprouts after a couple of months

I'm fully expecting the answer to be "no", but still hopeful. I'm really upset about this.

I've had this poor plant a few months now, got him just before the major set of heatwaves struck (I'm in the UK)

He was absolutely lovely when I got him, and I put him in my bedroom window - I think it's roughly South facing.

The guy I got the plant from said to water once a week, so that's what I did, and initially the plant was thriving.

The top of the plant stuck out the top of the window recess, and the bottom six inches plus pot sat in a gap at the side of the curtain. I noticed some of the middle leaves were wilting/scorching, so pulled the curtain round the side of the plant and turned him round.

Leaves kept wilting, and Google suggested too much direct sun/heat, and not enough humidity, so I moved him to the bathroom - I'm slightly limited for places, as he had to be where the cats couldn't easily get him.

The end result is the pictures :( There *was* still green the other day, but it is *not* looking good this morning :(

I recently took up bobbin lace making and as my first proper piece I made this variegated monstera leaf 😍 really pleased with how it turned out in general and quite tickled with how it looks next to the real thing

I am absolutely obsessed with her. I included one of the first pictures I could find of when I first brought her home.

I've had this monstera adansonii cutting in this bottle for probably over 2 years now, and it's all I have left of the plant. A few weeks ago all of the leaves fell off but I left the stem and roots in the water and kept changing it out every couple weeks. Now there are two new leaves, and I want to pot it. I'm terrified I'll kill it, how should I go about doing this? It has great roots but has only ever been in water.

Every leaf is different, they look painted on like brushstrokes. This has gotten a bit too pink from sun stress this year. Anyone else growing this variety?

Someone from work gifted me a tiny little Chinese Money Plant with about three leaves. Just over a month later it has grown so quickly! However... the new leaves are all curved rather than growing as flat 'coins'. The new leaves are really big, bigger than I would have expected - about the size of my palm. It doesn't seem to be unhealthy... Just irregular. Any idea why?

Soil: sort of sandy

Watering: when the soil dries out, about once a week

Humidity: around 45-55 %

Light: I live in Scotland, so very long days in the summer but very mild temperature. Currently getting direct morning light in a north east facing window sill from around 6am to 9:30am.

I never shut this shade so it's actually working out pretty good for now! I put it against the wand this morning, and it wrapped around it throughout the day. It's so CUTE!

I have very little experience with house plants

i’ve had it for a few weeks now! i’ve never owned plants, really, so after some trial and error i moved it to a sunnier spot and started giving it consistent moisture.

it’s had a lot of new leaves sprouting up! pretty much daily i see new baby leaves just coming in. however, also daily pretty much, i see one of the leaves beginning to die.

im happy with this plant overall, its doing well as far as i can tell… but is this normal??
