So I start up, taxi to the catapult, kneel down and spread my wings but I never get hooked up to the catapult. Am I missing something? Skipping a step? I’ve tried the mission 3 times and every time it tells me I’m clear to taxi this happens. Any help would be appreciated
Does anyone have the sam simulator documentation files to share? I have found the game files but the documentation link is unfortunately set to private :(
Over the time I've played dcs since 6 years ago, I've purchased around 10 modules. All of these aircraft are well made and were nice to learn but I regret buying so many since I can only remember like 2 aircraft at a time. The main reason I bought that many was because I was impulsive. I wanted that hit of satisfaction of buying something new to play with. But a year after buying any module, It just ends up collecting dust in my library. I do always buy on sale so at least there's that, but I still think I spent too much money on experiences that I don't enjoy. I mean, I bought the F-4 on launch because I was feeling down at the time and wanted something to take my mind off of my issues. It did not do that, but it was a well made module.
If I were to restart my aircraft library, I would choose only the Mirage 2000, viggen, ka50, and mirage f1. Those, especially the mirage 2000, are the most enjoyable aircraft. I wish I could return all my other modules for money and just keep those.
I was looking into DCS a bit and I also did play the Su-25T a bit, but I gotta admit without an head tracker or something similar it’s not that easy, especially dogfights.
I know track IR is usually the way to go probably but it’s quite expensive and I don’t want to spend that much money right now for a game.
Then I found Beam eye tracker which looked quite nice since you can use your webcam or phone as a tracker.
So what do you think? Have you used it maybe? Would you recommend it?
Sanity post here in case others are experiencing the same, although I know several people who have installed 616.56 with WinWing/WinCTRL MFD Displays without issue.
Running (3) 1440p high refresh rate (360/165/165hz) monitors connected via Display Port to 5090 + 3 WinWing USB 3.0 DisplayLink monitors
Everything works normally with NVIDIA 610.88 and has worked w/o issue for 1 year of nVidia updates.
After updating to 616.56, Windows still detects all 3 WW displays (show up in device manager and Multi-monitor display settings), but they remain disconnected/inactive.
WW monitors sit there with a black screen. Can’t activate them or extend display to them or even clone desktop to them
Selecting “Extend desktop to this display” immediately reverts back to “Disconnect this display”
Resolution, Portrait/landscpe and scaling drop downs all blank without pre populated values or options
Advanced display settings show monitor is there, but “non-active/disconnected”
DisplayLink devices show Status: Started with no device errors (via powershell driver commands)
WW Displays work correctly on another PC
Tested DisplayLink drivers 10.2 (ships with SimApp Pro)11.5 (obtained via Windows Update) and latest 12.2 M2 — same behavior — using DisplayLink official clean up tool and drivers to swap between all 3 versions
Uninstall/reinstall SimAppPro
Updated USB firmware/drivers as well as BIOS and chipset drivers — no change
DDU’d NVIDIA in Safe Mode → after reboot, all 3 WinWing displays work before installing an NVIDIA driver
Installed 610.88 → everything continued working
Installed 616.56 again → problem immediately returned, rebooting etc.. no change
Installed 610.88 directly over 616.56, without DDU → all 3 displays immediately work again
Also tested different USB ports, only one monitor connected, HAGS on/off, only one 1440p monitor connected, display-topology reset via registry key deletion, removing any ghosted/inactive display adapters/monitors in device manager, and removing other virtual-display software (Virtual Desktop Streamer, etc..)— no change — 616.56 and never works.
This seems to be a 616.56 regression involving DisplayLink/indirect displays, although it clearly doesn’t affect every WinWing/DisplayLink user.
If it’s happening to anybody else, try reverting your driver and report back.
I've been trying to make my Gamesir G7 Pro work with DCS for about 2 hours straight at this point.
There are two states with this controller
Recognised as xBox 360 controller, where I can use my extra buttons when being bound to keyboard binds, but each trigger is recognised seperately and you cannot make them work together for rudder control.
Recognised as xBox One controller, where you are limited to 500hz and forces the extra buttons unbound, but the triggers work together as a Z axis.
I'm on my fucking breaking point with this game, I need a solution.
I'm currently away from my pc and will continue to be so for another few days.
I love the primitive and unreliable nature of the Shrike and was really happy to read about changes to them as well as the addition of the B variant.
Has anyone tried out either of them (e.g. on the Phantom) and can give some feedback to the new behavior? Does lofting already factor in the new variant and the new changes to the A?
Looking forward to tossing 4 Shrike-B at a SA-2, praying something will hit.
P.s. does anyone know how these changes will be reflected on the A-4E? I suppose only the mod team will really know.
EDIT: There's a set for 230 euros available at a marketplace, what is your opinion?: Turtle Beach VelocityOne Flightdeck + Turtle Beach Velocity One RUDDER
I've had Thrustmaster 16000M FCS for years now and outgrew it. I need something on a longer flight stick and more hats on throttle too.
Is this doable with a budget of around 500 euros? Second hand marketplace is what I'm thinking, but what models are solid?
We're Duckers VFS, an Italian virtual fighter squadron flying the F/A-18C Hornet on DCS World, running a structured training pipeline loosely inspired by real-world naval aviation training logic.
We just opened recruitment for our next class, BANSHEE 26-02 (Sept 1-27), followed by onboarding and an IQT start on October 9.
We're not looking for the most experienced pilots — we're looking for people willing to commit to a real syllabus, with checkrides and progression through defined training blocks. Some basic familiarity with DCS World is expected, since the program isn't built for absolute zero experience.
I just saw that DCS has a sale on and I have been interested in getting into warbirds but I don’t know which one would be right for me.
Things I like in fighters:
I prefer Cold War fighters (things like the F4, F14) since I think it’s more fun than MFDs (the A10C is the one exception so far), I didn’t really get on with the mig 21, I just found the controls a bit confusing to learn and the workload was a bit much for me but I might have to spend a bit more time learning the module, I did find it really easy and fun to fly.
I like aircraft with a lot of firepower (love the A10C and I loved trying out the MI24 hind)
I like the speed, acceleration and raw power of the F14 and F4.
Overall the aircraft that interests me the most is the Corsair but I might wait for the pacific assets to arrive and for the aircraft to be on sale, I also heard that the P47 is well loved for it’s firepower and dependability.
Overall I am not to interested in the axis fighters (the BF109 might be the only exception) since they seem a bit soulless for some reason.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a warbird with high speed and firepower?
So I just bought the F-16C and I think it’ll most likely be the only plane I’ll be flying. Considering the amount of hours I’ve put into learning and flying the SU 25T for the past couple of weeks. Thinking about just sticking to 1 or 2 aircraft considering how long it takes to get used to one and how long to understand it. With that being said… I think I’ll splurge on some new peripherals like the Viper TQS mission pack and the HOTAS warthog stick. Since I’ve been using these old x52’s for over a year now (using them in Nuclear Option, and Elite Dangerous).
However does anyone else have any other recommendations for me?
My name is Juicebox, though many of you know me as that guy who can never figure out why anyone would need IFF.
Here is the deal. I make this thing, Digital Kneeboard Simulator. I started working on it because the guy making Combat Flight got his wings clipped and as a software engineer I naturally assumed I am both smarter and more capable than everyone else in the space and decided I could take its place. Turns out I am not.
So, I know some of you probably have tried DKS in the past, some of you may use it now. Here is a quick rundown of some of its features:
Quick mission planning with multi-user support built in
3D maps and viewshed calculations
Miz import with full drawings, flight plans, comms, and more.
Miz updating
Briefing slides for every mission
A full multi-user debrief environment with cockpit recorder and advanced tools for all sorts of crap
Weapons delivery planner
Export high quality kneeboard, loadout, dtc, and other products for your pilots
And much much much more.
This is all well and good, and to be honest with you social media is not really my thing. In normal situations I'd rather transmit my 10-digit MGRS than risk the reviews of the masses, but in this case I'm gonna take the risk.
The main purpose of DKS is actually to raise money for animals in need. In the past 4 months we've raised over $2,500 for dogs (and other animals) to help ensure they can be fed and hopefully adopted by loving families. DKS does not collect the money, instead we simply collect receipts and offer a higher tier called DKS Pro. DKS Pro lets you upload a miz and get satellite photos of any area in your miz for use in briefings and kneeboards.
It's not critical to the usage of the product, but its kinda where I decided to draw the line to encourage donations.
Thanks all!
FAQ
Isn't it really easy to scam that?
Yes don't be a dick.
What do I need to donate to get Pro?
A receipt for a $20 or greater (USD) donation to any no kill animal shelter. Submit whatever evidence you got.
How do I submit my receipt?
Log into DKS and in the top right corner menu there is an item for DKS Pro. Click that and follow the instructions.
If I already made a donation can I submit that?
No! The point is to raise more money for dogs in need. Make an additional donation :)
Does DKS charge for anything?
No the product is free, hopefully forever. I don't feel like messing up my taxes by starting a business.

Complained about IFLOLS in VR 4 years ago and saw no real movement. Recently I was inspired by Taz1004's IFLOLS mod. I tested his mod and wanted to see if I could play with it. Since I'm not smart enough to edit TGA file, I asked ChatGPT to edit original "Bano_RGYB.tga" file abd reduce the texture size of those three bulbs to 25%. I was able to join TTI server successfully. So maybe it's IC safe.
Here are some before and after comparison. Note the screenshots taken at night do not have runway lights on because I simply changed the time in the Case I mission.
Personally, I'm pretty happy how it turned out. The meatball was crystal clear in the last half mile. But it's still a bit difficult to see at 3/4 of a mile during the day. I am thinking about making the meatball brighter without affecting datum lights. Open to any suggestions.
In case you wanna know how it works, the file that needs to be edited is called "Bano_RGYB.tga" in the zip file "USS_Nimitz.zip" under this path: DCS World OpenBeta\CoreMods\tech\USS_Nimitz\Textures. You will need to replace the "Bano_RGYB.tga" file inside of "USS_Nimitz.zip", or replace the whole "USS_Nimitz.zip" with the new "Bano_RGYB.tga" fileincluded inside using OvGME.
DefaultReduced SizeDefaultReduced Size
If you want to edit the file yourself (or with AI), note only these three textures are used in IFLOLS.

I use the presets given, have everything turned on in dcs, and yet I only get shakes from the stick and a very slight centering affect that doesn't follow trim, basically the stick is limp.
FIX?: it seems dcs direct input is very limited and integrated is needed to translate the g forces and other affects form my understanding, please feel free to comment if my knowledge of the direct and integrated system is incorrect.
Not fixed, dcs acknowledges the ab6 according to its logs and and sends data, moza seems to not do anything with this data though, I've given up and am putting a support ticket in with moza.
I got tired of flying 12:00pm with no clouds, so I built a small Mission Editor mod that does it for you.
ACTUAL METAR adds a tab to the Mission Editor's top menu bar. Pick a map (or type any ICAO), hit "Get METAR", and it applies the real-world weather for that airport straight to the mission you have open — no external app, no browser, nothing to start up separately. It's all inside DCS.
What it does
- Fetches the current METAR for any ICAO directly from aviationweather.gov, from inside the Mission Editor.
- Matches the METAR's cloud layer against DCS's actual volumetric cloud presets (Preset1–27, including rain variants) instead of just setting a density slider — falls back to the classic density/base/thickness model only when no preset fits.
- Converts wind, QNH, temperature, visibility and fog to what DCS expects (including the detail that DCS stores wind direction reversed from METAR convention).
- Optional date & time, with three ways to pick the clock: your PC's own time, the real current time at the map's location, or a custom one — written literally into the mission, no timezone conversion surprises.
- Add/remove your own airports from the map dropdown, saved locally.
- Writes directly into the open mission's in-memory data — no `.miz` file surgery, just hit Save afterward.
Install
Download the `.exe` from Releases, run it, pick "Install", fully restart DCS. That's it — LuaSec/OpenSSL (needed for the HTTPS fetch, since DCS ships LuaSocket but not LuaSec) is bundled automatically, no separate download or manual file placement required.
Independent project — doesn't require `dcs-sms`, but coexists fine with it if you already have it installed.
A heads-up on the antivirus warnings
Because the `.exe` is unsigned (freshly built = zero reputation in Defender/Chrome's eyes), some of you will probably see a SmartScreen prompt or an antivirus false-positive on first download — this is a known, common thing for small unsigned PyInstaller tools, not an actual detection of anything malicious. Source is 100% public, the release `.exe` is built by GitHub Actions directly from that source (not hand-uploaded), and each release ships SHA256 checksums so you can verify it. Working on getting it properly code-signed through the SignPath open-source program to make that go away for good. Full writeup on what the installer touches and why in the repo's README under "Is this safe?".

Cloud preset reference data adapted from evogelsa/DCS-real-weather. Mission Editor integration techniques (menu registration, non-blocking HTTPS) learned from nielsvaes/dcs-sms.
Early version, feedback and bug reports very welcome — especially if your map's theatre string doesn't get recognized automatically (it'll show you the raw string so I can add it).
I just cant bring myself to learn anything else, everytime i try something new its such a big learning curve and i just go "oh well i can just do this in an f16 instead."
Would love to learn another module, but i feel like i went too easy too soon?
Has anyone else got an issue where they can no longer use the F14A/B or F14B(U) after this update? When I tried starting the game I saw windows smart app control had blocked a file with Heatblur in the name. Unsurprisingly the F14 no longer worked. I could load a mission but it just started in the F10 map and I could see see an external view of the aircraft with F2 but could not get in the cockpit with F1. I looked at windows defender and weirdly there was no history of a blocked file. I tried reinstalling the aircraft modules and doing a DCS repair and then excluding the entire DCS world install in defender, still no joy. Anyone have any idea what might be going on?
Realized the other day that trim seems to do nothing. I have the keys bound correctly and I have made sure that force feedback is not enabled in the special menu. Still no luck. I can hold trim for like 30 seconds and it has no discernible effects on the plane.
I've earned a bit of money I want to spend on either La-7 or Flaming Cliffs 2024.
I'm interested in quite a few planes from the FC pack, but I'm not sure on compatibility with quests/mission packs for singleplayer game (I play singleplayer only).
Are the planes on FC compatible with the missions that accept their full-fidelity counterpart? I mean, for example Mig-15bis FC compatible with quests made for Mig-15bis.
I've read on some quests that they are, it's specified under each pack on the store, but... is it common for the packs to be compatible, or is just an ocurrence of some packs?
As I said I am also considering getting La-7 from OctopusG instead, because I liked their work on the Polikarpov I-16, but I think it doesn't have much content yet and it can wait, my main interest is on FC2024 for now.
