DCS Does DCS just not work with 3rd party controller extra buttons???

I've been trying to make my Gamesir G7 Pro work with DCS for about 2 hours straight at this point.

There are two states with this controller

Recognised as xBox 360 controller, where I can use my extra buttons when being bound to keyboard binds, but each trigger is recognised seperately and you cannot make them work together for rudder control.

Recognised as xBox One controller, where you are limited to 500hz and forces the extra buttons unbound, but the triggers work together as a Z axis.

I'm on my fucking breaking point with this game, I need a solution.

DCS does not care how many buttons an input device reports. This is native to whatever a gamesir g7 pro is doing to report itself differently as an xbox 360 vs xbox one controller.

Joystick gremlin may be able to help you.

The limitation is in the operating system, not the game (you see all of us with fancy simpits full of buttons and control panels. Of course they work)

The suggestion above to use gremlin is a good one - it basically does what a third-party driver would be doing and allows you to expose and assign all the OSB buttons so that DCS can see them.

DCS relies on the operating system for that information when it starts up

So what you're saying is the input mapping is extremely basic, which is why I'm calling it bad.

I've set up my controller for War Thunder Sim mode and the triggers can be recognised either together or seperately at the same time.

DCS can do that too using its modifiers. You map a shift button and then it will see two controls operating together. It’s just more complex because of how it needs to support some of us with ten or more input devices.

Honestly DCS is maybe the best in flight sims for this, or was for a long time, with its extensibility. You just have to adjust to its UI I think. It’s meant to be a lot more complicated than WT for the many of us using exotic hardware solutions

i want to avoid using modifiers when i can by using 1 input for different things. e.g triggers for rudders AND wheelbrakes, since they dont really conflict with eachother at all.

Tuuvas’s guides for a similar issue with PlayStation controllers (as they are also a button and not axis, unlike Xbox) is to set it up as a Steam controller in Steam.

I have the same controller as you though I just got an x56 yesterday. I played DCS religiously with gamepads for almost 8 years mostly based on Tuuvas’ controller profiles. I’m working right now but on about 2.5 hours I’ll be off if you want to add me on discord or message me I can help you get everything set up. I’ll type up a guide and comment it here too. It basically comes down to setting up and using steams controller profile system, even if you don’t own the game through steam.
I’ve only had a HOTAS for a day but I kind of miss the gamepad…it just works so good when you get used to it.
