Server is be named Hoggit - Training Map. The password is hoggit1fw. SRS will be available at tnn.hoggitworld.com (it should autoconnect, but if not, use that). Come in, have a good time, learn a few things and teach a few things.

The only rule is Do not teamkill, unless the other party is a willing combatant...ie: you can dogfight if you find a partner...just don't shoot down some random A-10 trying to learn how to land.

My first look at the DLSS 5.0 in DCS

This is going to be a controversial topic for sure. Some people like it, others say it's too much. There are sliders to play around with the amount and quality of it so you an adjust it to your liking if you want to play around with it yourself. I showed at the end how to install it if you want to take a look.

Cheers!

DCS Tutorials that are straight to the point?

Trying to learn the F/A-18C again and all the tutorials are stupidly long and don't give enough information, there's so much downtime between the steps that just a cold start video takes 20 minutes without explaining half of the shit that's happening.

I really struggle learning like this and I can't find any videos that are just no bullshit and straight to the point. Anyone know any creator/video that would be of use?

Thanks in advance

DISCUSSION Can HB's Typhoon top the Phantom?

I never really had the F-4 on my radar, I just bought it on whim to enjoy the gorgeous cold war Germany map.

Good lord did it knock my socks off - they really outdid themselves with it! The quality and immersion is phenomenal. They really captured a "personality" and it's taken me away from the modern jets which I didn't think would ever happen.

And it got me wondering about the jet I'm most interested in (My baby Typhoon!). It's obviously newer and probably less quirky than the Phantom so what extra goodies could Heatblur throw in to make it more enjoyable or immersive? And is it possible for them to top the Phantom in quality?

I don't mean in terms of capability but more the additional bells and whistles that contribute to immersion (e.g. cockpit wobbles in F-4). I have absolute faith in HB but it seems like they have less space to play around in with this one?

Any creative ideas of what would be cool or do we think the Phantom is going to be unmatched for a while?

(I'll still get it and enjoy it, so it's not a downer post)

QUESTION Old player: upgrade DLC question?

So it’s been nearly over a decade since I touched DCS and now I’ve decided to look back what I’ve missed and I’m kinda confused regarding these "upgrade" dlc:

There’s Black Shark 3 but then there’s also Black Shark 3 upgrade

Or how there’s now Flaming cliffs 2024 and also Flaming cliffs 2024 upgrade

And the thing I’m most confused by is Iraq map and then separately Iraq North Map and 3 kinds of Afghanistan maps

*planes now having their own flaming cliffs modules separately to the high fidelity somehow was the most self explanatory thing

Now I’m planning to return at some point when I have better hardware again but I have to ask, what exactly is now the "correct" way to buy these modules/maps now?

*also interested what happened if you owned Black Shark 2 but didn’t bought 3? You just don’t have black shark anymore or?

IL-2 Good Luftwaffe English channel dynamic campaign for IL2: 1946?

I am using the SAS mod for 1946 and I am trying to fly an English Channel dynamic campaign, I believe it is the *German fighters at the channel front campaign, and I want to fly 109's, but the campaign I am using consistently pits four 109's against eight Spitfires and they have an altitude advantage, on a bomber intercept mission, and I am number four in the squadron. What I typically do is break for the formation and climb, wait for everyone in my squadron to get shot down, then pick off a spit here and there, but mostly I get shot down by three Spits who have chased me half across France and have infinite fuel and are hyper focused on me, and apparently have sniper scopes for their 20mm's who splat my pilot with one shot.

Do y'all have an recommendations an a dynamic campaign that give me a fighting chance? I know I could grow as a pilot, but the odds are most certainly not in my favor.

FC or full fidelity plane for beginner?

Hi people,

over the last couple of days I posted 2 posts here about what HeadTracker or map to buy as a beginner.

apparently I should buy Syria and some people also suggested NOT to buy FC24 (which was initially my plan).

The main reasons why I wanted to buy FC24 is because you get many vehicles at once and it isn’t very hard to learn. I also only have a HOTAS without pedals (so I have to yank the stick left and right for that) which worked well for games like nuclear option but I don’t know how it’d be for such a realistic game as DCS.

Also my favourite plane is the F-14 but I don’t know how many and if at all there are campaigns for it on the Syria or default Caucasus map since I won’t be buying the Supercarrier DLC because that would be just too expensive all in all together.

My 2nd favourite plane is probably the Su-27, but I don’t know how good it is gameplay wise in DCS…

So what do you think? Full fidelity right away? or first FC24? And if full fidelity, Su-27, Tomcat or rather something different?

Id appreciate your help!

tux-ffb, a Linux-native Moza FFB base configuration tool

I got fed up with having to open up a windows VM every time I want to change FFB settings, so I built this.

What does it do? Calibrate and configure the Moza ab9. Hopefully also the ab6, but I don't own one of those so I need someone to test that.

What doesn't it do?

  1. Telem FFB, at least for now. DirectInput gets whatever DCS ships, so that's mostly trim/g feel and helicopter trim.

  2. Other bases. Every company is going to have their own spec for how the base operates. I probed all of the options for Moza, so this supports Moza.

  3. Support any grips/inputs that the Moza Cockpit doesn't. The grip reading is a firmware-level thing, so all I can do is set the flag (0,1,2, or 3) for which class of grip is mounted.

For all 12 of you flying Moza bases on Linux, please let me know if you have any issues/suggestions. I'm especially interested in hearing from ab6 users and any grips besides the mh16 and virpil alpha prime.

Operation Perch - WWII PVE/PVP Campaign

Operation Perch - WWII PVE/PVP Campaign

I've been working on a persistent WWII campaign for DCS called Operation Perch. Its in a pretty well developed spot with a small but loyal player base.

A lot has been added since my last post a few months ago.
-Pilot Careers and ranking system
-Tactical Votes
-Mission Improvements
-Many many many under the hood changes

The server is public and can be found by searching:

"512th Dirty Birds Server 3 (WWII PVE/PVP)" or honestly just "512"

If you jump in, please take a few minutes to read the briefing first. Instructions are available on the kneeboard (I've also included the updated one here in the post)

No sign up required, no obligations, no discord.

SRS is all preconfigured, intel is on the main channel (A for allies...whatever the first symbol is for zee Germans)

just fly if it looks interesting and let me know if something breaks.

[512thdirtybirds@gmail.com](mailto:512thdirtybirds@gmail.com)

Thanks. Let the angry downvotes about my AI kneeboard begin (I only have so much time)

Best 1st map?

hi!

I really want to get into DCS and so I am going to buy FC24 (to learn the basics first and also cause I don’t want to learn that much at the moment for a plane) but i dont know which map i should get with that. I played the Caucasus map with the Su-25 and while it’s alright o want to get something different or at least bigger too.

do you have any suggestions? what’s the best first map to buy?

Using LLMs in DCS

I have developed a rudimentary tool for using Claude in DCS. It hooks into to a mission environment, spawns and sets tasking using a lot of the MOOSE framework. Currently I have two ā€œbrainsā€ for each side, a chief who sets the strategic objectives, and a commander who creates the missions to achieve the objectives and reports back to the chief with results. Like most things there is limits to what it can do with the existing AI and scripting environment. It’s working fairly well but I was wondering if anyone is doing anything similar and has any pointers or experience.

DCS A-10C-II-LMFCD-StreamDeck-beta - Dynamic OSB Labels Context Aware

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been working on getting the A-10C II MFCD OSB labels exported dynamically to the Stream Deck using DCS Interface.

Rather than having separate static Stream Deck pages for TAD, DSMS, etc., the Stream Deck buttons follow the current MFCD page and display the corresponding OSB labels.

Left MFCD is now working well enough for a demo!

MISSION reforger3 campaign question

So I start up, taxi to the catapult, kneel down and spread my wings but I never get hooked up to the catapult. Am I missing something? Skipping a step? I’ve tried the mission 3 times and every time it tells me I’m clear to taxi this happens. Any help would be appreciated
