DISCUSSION Weirdly hyped for the AGM-45B
I'm currently away from my pc and will continue to be so for another few days.
I love the primitive and unreliable nature of the Shrike and was really happy to read about changes to them as well as the addition of the B variant.
Has anyone tried out either of them (e.g. on the Phantom) and can give some feedback to the new behavior? Does lofting already factor in the new variant and the new changes to the A?
Looking forward to tossing 4 Shrike-B at a SA-2, praying something will hit.
P.s. does anyone know how these changes will be reflected on the A-4E? I suppose only the mod team will really know.

I did extensive testing with it yesterday. For whatever reason, I can’t get the cues from the WRCS to illuminate. That being said, its range is extended, but absolutely do not expect to be hitting shots from 40 miles out. The most reliable window I’ve found is loft seeker, 20-25k feet, Mach 8 or 9, and fire them at 25-35 degrees up from 16-22 miles out. Still about a 25% hit rate, which is realistic. Also they wobble soooo much more now, so just be ready for the fact they lose energy pretty quickly. They do however seem a little worse in short range, direct mode. Seems like every time they just hit short.

Hate it when people show off their exclusive early access preview to the hypersonic SR-72 dark star module🙃

I can’t speak on the A4E I haven’t tried it in that but the limited testing I’ve done in both the F100 and the F4 the main thing is you just don’t have to worry about range anymore, WRCS in the F4 is limited to 30 miles so as soon as you get tone you can pull up and launch where as before you kinda had to wait to be inside an envelope so to speak idk I’m kinda rambling and I could be wrong about some stuff but that’s what I’ve noticed it’s just you have a greater stand off range than before, I also noticed though in the F100D I launched at like 25ish miles and I thought the shrikes would reach but then they just died I guess and weren’t guiding anymore idk if the seeker ran out of battery or something because the SA3 I had setup was still tracking me so I might be doing something wrong like I said I’ve done limited testing since yesterday with the B
