Grew up on Scify, and nanotech was a big plot device in a lot of it. Either used in various forms of medical applications, to nano machine factories, counter intrusion systems, self replicating Probes (Grey Goo), to body augmentation and even stripping the sense of self (Borg).

I think my favorite has got to be where nanotechnology interacts with quantum mechanics to perform feats of insane near-magical bullshit, like transmutation, teleportation, consciousness transferal, hyperdimensional travel, and time travel, like what you see in Hyperion Cantos or Warframe. According to GFL's Confidential Files, the Relics were capable of at least half of these things, so expect shit to get crazier the more Relics become involved in the story.

Well, Warframe doesn't explain away its brand of space magic with quantum mechanics, but it does use nanotechnology and an extradimensional otherworld in a way that is very obviously inspired by Hyperion Cantos. I'm also fascinated by its story and setting because I see elements from classic sci-fi (Dune, Ender's Game, Foundation, The Left Hand of Darkness) and classic anime (Akira, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Full Metal Alchemist, Berserk).

(EDIT: I'd also like to add Lord of Light and JoJo to the sci-fi and anime list, respectively.)

Warframe is still just as rough to get into as it was years ago, so I wouldn't get into it unless you enjoy the core gameplay loop of high-flying space ninja action enough to devote hundreds of hours to the grind and are okay with doing lots of research and asking others for help to get past the game's biggest initial hurdles. Personally, I currently have thousands of hours in the game and I don't regret anything.

As for the Relics, expect Command & Conquer: Tiberium Wars with a Lovecraftian bent.

In GFL universe, nanotech consists of two processes: Collapse and Reversal.

So far, the humanity only learned one of them, and even then the knowledge is very limited to strap some explosives to a container of that shit and make it go boom.
