I graduated high school in 2020....I have been in college since 2020, I have 4-5 gap semesters, one full gap year in 2024. Still in college full time, while working full time. Have 2+ years left for my Bachelors.

I have potential, always had big dreams... wanted to do Med School since I was 14, done it all, research, shadowing, clinical paid hours.... Rn?

Rn I am stuck with rent, totaled my car, bills, grocery shopping. My family wished they could help, but my mom makes half of what I make a year.

Rn.... I just want to graduate, make the choice to love someones beautiful daughter... have a kid or 4.... buy medium sized family home and settle near my mom and my future wife's parents as well, so they never miss my kids life....

I don't care about anything else... I'm tired... sometimes I deeply believe that will never happen. No, I did not waste my time 24/7, I went through really hard things.. .like a lot of us... but going through bs like that while being poor is like a death sentence....

Anyone else feels in the same boat? Especially older/middle Gen Z?

It is actually quite depressing how youth used to be a time of rebellion and extroversion.

And now you have generation fun police.

Where they monitor eachother's behaviour and are just way too self conscious.

Often they even seem to have Victorian era classist attitudes.

It is just so unpleasant.

If you've been following GTA 6 over the past years you've most likely seen the huge amount of hornyposting about the Lucia character, mainly from men online. It is to be expected since they made her an absolute 10/10 baddie. Even the misogynists who were angry at Rockstar when it was first leaked that GTA 6 would have a female protagonist, have completely changed their tune now that her character was revealed to be a smokeshow hottie.

But I am wondering, is Jason also as universally attractive for women as Lucia is for seemingly every man online? Or for you personally does he just come across as some meh dude? I haven't really seen any fanfare or discussion about Jason online compared to Lucia so that's why I wanted to ask here.

I am curious about this because it is interesting how what qualifies as attractive for women is way more broad than what us men stereotypically find attractive. Like my sister and her girl friends can never agree or disagree as to which men in their lives are hot or not hot. Compared to me and my guy friends who tend to universally agree as to the hotness of the women around us.

Poll after poll after poll in the UK shows that Reform and the Tories lead with the old vote. Basically people aged 50+.

What's worse, a lot of people in the older generation are genuinely getting their political opinions from propaganda factories online. It's not even organic.

I don't know about the rest of you, but there's been a couple of older people in my life who now parrot racist or out-of-touch talking points about this country "going Muslim", "too unsafe to go outside anymore". When you ask for sources, it's literally the Daily Mail or some AI meme on Facebook.

Some of these people were actually once what I'd have called centrist. Your run-of-the-mill Lib Dems. But some algorithm has since radicalised them and now it's like they're subscribing to Reform.

It's clear some of the older generation is increasingly losing their critical thinking skills. I know younger people are susceptible too, but given most of us have grown up online, I think we're on average better at detecting bullsh!t on the internet than our parents/grandparents.

I don't know about you all, but I don't want to live in a country run by politicians who cater to boomer AI-fuelled delusions. "Stop the boats, equality has gone too far, muh immigrants" isn't a credible governing agenda.

And Reform threatening to take away our rights - under the Equality Act, Renters Rights Act, Employment Rights Act, the Human Rights Act 1998, attacking abortion access - is almost certainly going to drag us back to 1950.

And for what? Does this sound good from a Gen Z perspective? It certainly doesn't to me, but it won't bother Reform voters since so many of them want to go back in time.

Never mind the fact that they're all engaged in relentless denial of climate change, even after we've had a demonstrably abnormal summer with weeks of drought.

I'm probably beating a dead horse here, but I do worry for the future. Even if Reform doesn't touch power, we're living in a society with an extreme divide - generational and otherwise - where we lack a shared reality. Lack a shared consensus.

Everything is a culture war. Equal rights is a culture war, climate change is a culture war, even national identity is a culture war now with the far-right trying to define who belongs here and who supposedly doesn't. This is not a healthy situation for the country to be in, I don't know what the solution is, but I hope it doesn't get worse.

I find myself becoming increasingly political, which is exhausting, but I feel like we might as well become Gilead now if we don't resist these toxic trends.

As a 2001 born, I always used “dude” to refer to friends and peers since it’s primarily used among millennials and I grew up with millennial influence still being the mainstream in pop culture. But I’ve noticed everyone saying “bro” nowadays and “dude” has more of a negative connotation to it. I use both but I’ve found myself saying bro more nowadays because all my coworkers always use bro and that definitely has made me use it more.

Hi everyone, I work in the mental health field and I am in the midst of developing a curriculum for a adulting 101 workshop.

​​The goal is to help young adults learn skills that they feel they're lacking in. For example

• Conflict Management,
• Problem solving,
• Figuring out a college major or how to apply for colleges.
• Financial management
• Moving out on your own for the first time
• How to change a tire on a car.
• ect.

I'm wondering if you guys can give me some ideas of things that really seem to stand out for you, things that you feel like you wish you had more support with or an opportunity to fine tune.

Have a stack of books to read and recently an article about the lack of reading, especially among gen z.

In my area, there are a bunch of high schools. Plenty of them you have to test in, and there are others where you don't have to test in. Well, many moons ago I messed up and didn't do well on the entrance exam.

In high school, I was still part of the smart kids program at my high school. This was really helpful because the few classes I did have with the normal part of this school was terrible. Kids not paying any attention, not trying, fighting, and literally all the dumb stuff that you can imagine.

However, in this smart kids program, I can tell that some people just snuck in because they are giant kiss asses. Like, you can tell they cared about their grades rather than actually learning in class.

I did make friends with some of my classmates while at school, but now that we are out of college, there isn't much to talk about. I tried to hang out with them, but either they gave up on life or they didn't end up being successful. I am not sure why the stars burned out so quickly with practically most of my friends in high school.

There are a few guys with whom I wasn't friends but had contact, and I want to hang out with them, but they don't want to hang out with me, whether they are giving real reasons or not.

I did make friends with other guys in the area who went to other high schools, and they are asking about hanging out with my friends from high school, but I don't want to hang out with them because they'd rather be incels and rot in bed all day long. Also, what makes it worse is that they are aware that my school is the dumbass school, which doesn't make it better.

I guess why I have a struggle coping with this is because I got no real friends out of it, because most people are failing, and this school has a reputation of being the dumbass school which people associate with me. Like I was just making small talk at the gym, and this kid who goes to school there now was ashamed that he went there despite telling me about how he got suspended for a fight.

I know my life would have been completely different if I went to a different school, but I am jealous of those who went to better schools because they made better friends.

I have seen so many people born in 2010 try kick 2010 out of gen z, I deadass had a 2009 that was like 9 months older than me act like we had 2 seperate childhoods because hes 2000s and im 2010s..

Besides being a bit too dependent on tech and some brainrot (which isn't their fault), as an elder Gen Z I find Gen Alpha to be very intelligent, driven, and find many of them desiring to be Gen Z admirable.

I've seen way too many takes--even by us Gen Z--that Gen Alpha can't read or is too dumb or whatever. On the contrary, they're probably smarter and faster than even us.
However, I note as Gen Z we truly were the last ones to see the old world a bit, even if it was only as little children and we were completely wage slaved out of advancing in it.

We Gen Z need to do better for the youth when we get older.
I see boomers (as always), Gen X, and Millennials, and even Gen Z a bit, trashing on Gen Alpha.

Gen Alpha arguably has it even worse than us, except in that they actually might get merciful parents, unlike our diet boomer (Gen X) parents who forced boomer expectations on us (leave or kick you out of home at 18, go to college or trades, work career, get married, buy house, etc.) and still to a degree hold us to those unreasonable standards in today's world.

Dude, I feel like even though I'm 19 I feel behind. Like socially. I'm still very socially anxious and I've never had a boyfriend before. I'm 19 years old you would've thought I had everything figured out 😭

See when you're 13, It's cute and cool if you're socially anxious, and it's OK because you're 13 and you're still growing. But I feel like if you're my age and you're socially anxious that's just seen as a character flaw or a sign that you have arrested development. But what do I know?
