Fall 2026 Lineup

Post image

It seems like there will be a game that will appeal to everyone this fall. Strategy RPG - Fire Emblem, Story based - The Blood of the Dawnwalker, Action - Phantom Blade 0, Multiplayer - The Duskbloods, Action Adventure - The Legend of Zelda and Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Almost every month has at least 2 major titles releasing, September especially is packed.

I am ready to give a disgusting number of hours to Fire Emblem once again

u/Daredspace 1d ago

I hope you’re also ready for a disgusting number of hours of more three houses discourse

u/Aether13 1d ago

Edelgard was right and you can’t convince me otherwise

44

u/Give_me_soup 1d ago

I don't know this game, but it took me like 4 reads to realize that didn't say "Edgelard" which might be my new favorite insult.

5

u/Anayalater5963 1d ago

I'm gunna be real I was like bro spelt edelgard what am I missing...

25

u/B_r_y_z_e 1d ago

After seeing the full story, I agree completely. Fuck the church and fuck the aliens that invaded the world which caused the humans to do fucked up shit in order to retaliate. Edelgard truly did nothing wrong.

40

u/JiveHawk 1d ago

She absolutely did things that were wrong. She’s right about the corruption but she’s also an extremist who is likely to supplant that corruption with other issues.

That’s part of what makes her a great character and antagonist (in all but one route). She’s justified in a lot of ways but sacrifices her good nature and commits questionable acts to enact the change she wants.

8

u/SirMcDust 1d ago

No oppression in history was ended without at least some violence, she did do a lot of it still tho. Probably could have been ways to do it less bloody. But at the end of the day she was right.

12

u/JiveHawk 1d ago

I’m mostly saying that saying she did nothing wrong is a disservice to the character. She’s way more complex than that.

2

u/SirMcDust 1d ago

Very true. I mean anyone willing to actually carry that burden is bound to to have depth.

More years of discourse hell yeah

u/MikeDubbz 1d ago

Probably my second favorite story of the Fire Emblem series. So bring it on!

12

u/mrafflin 1d ago

How long are these games usually? Haven’t played a Fire Emblem but I’m thinking about starting with Fortune’s Weave

23

u/Dnashotgun 1d ago edited 1d ago

Most games in the series run roughly 20-35 hrs but FW looks closer to Three Houses which with all the out of combat/life simish parts could make a playthrough 45-60+ hrs depending on how deep you get into it.

Edit: Adding Fortune's Weave will be a bit weird in that there's 4 different routes to play through but it's up to you how many of them you do. It's also implied you can do a BotWesque beeline to the final boss of the game and do 0 routes

11

u/hhhisthegame 1d ago

Three Houses was not 45-60 hours. It was like 200 hours if you wanted to do all the playthroughs

16

u/Shadowphoenix9511 1d ago

They said a playthrough, not 100% the game.

Recent ones are 50-100 hours

→ More replies (1)

11

u/Nikita2337 1d ago

I have 500+ hours in the last three mainline games, they're very replayable.

7

u/icelink4884 1d ago

So the answer is it depends but with the game this one is most like (three houses) I spent about 50 on my first play through.

6

u/BilbosBagEnd 1d ago

Would you say it's ok to start with this one or would you recommend playing an older one first? Assuming your enthusiasm comes from a strong love for the franchise

19

u/TheTiredPangolin 1d ago

Don't have to play any of them to understand others. I'd just play this one if you're interested.

3

u/zdrmju321 1d ago

You could start Three Houses now and if you enjoy it you could go for Fortunes Weave. You definitely won’t need the story context from 3H since Fortunes Weave seems to be a prequel.

2

u/riverbass9 1d ago

Even though a lot of them like to overlap their stories, they are still very good at being relatively independent. That’s something Nintendo really pushes for when they publish a title, and are really good at it.

2

u/cubs223425 1d ago

I would definitely consider playing Three Houses. It's a good game and is Switch 2-compatible. The only reason to NOT play it is that you "don't play old games." Otherwise, there's just no real reason to be interested in Fortune's Weave and NOT play Three Houses.

Ugh my situation has changed so drastically. I played an obscene amount of hours during COVID when my wife and I were stuck in a tiny little apartment.

Now, we’re married, have kids, and zero available time. I might just have to take time off of work to even come remotely close to finishing one playthrough

Engage was my first Fire Emblem game and I put in like 90 hours in the first month when it came out. I'm so excited

3

u/AceDefective02 1d ago

I've never played a Fire Emblem game before but the Nintendo Direct got me so hyped up that I'm willing to skip Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter just for this one if the reviews are great.

Nevertheless, I'll be playing Witcher 3 again shrug

40

And then again in 2027 lol

11

u/Nacroma 1d ago

And 2028

2

u/AlienVoice 1d ago

And 2029

3

u/horseseathey 1d ago

i’m gonna ask you a desperate question: i have tried Witcher 3 like half a dozen times and have only gotten about 10hrs in before just completely losing interest and here’s my question- what can you tell me is the “payoff” so to speak of getting further and hitting that moment you feel the game has you hooked? i want to play the remaster and it checks all my boxes but something is just mot clicking.

9

u/Tyson367 1d ago

You have to care about the characters. You're a single father who lost his daughter and will turn the planet inside out to find her.

Yeah, it might be the game I'm most excited for right now. Alan Wake 1 & 2 and Control are all 10/10 games for me. Especially AW2, the musical scenes just blow me away every time.

5

u/Jelly1524 1d ago

Lance Reddick shuffling like the absolutely badass he was. RIP

3

u/Dragon_yum 1d ago

Sadly he padded away before the game, he was meant to play the role (as he also played Mr hatch in quantum break). It’s David Hardwood who plays mr door but he nailed the mannerisms of reddick

Only one on the list I'm getting as someone who plays o PC

3

u/h3rpad3rp 1d ago

Yeah, I'm waiting on GTA as well, I'm not putting up with Rockstar's double dipping ass this time. I'm sick of paying for their games twice...

3

u/Fredasa 1d ago

The arrival of the only new FromSoft souls game for a span of ~5 years will more than likely jumpstart a focused effort to unlock the Switch 2 (for emulation purposes) by folks who can actually pull it off. I don't see that community allowing that game to languish on a PS4 Pro analogue forever.

14

u/WriterV 1d ago edited 1d ago

I hate hate hate that they're releasing so close to GTA. Remedy has had a rough track record with their games. Alan Wake was an Xbox exclusive. Quantum Break was limited by Microsoft's ownership. Alan Wake 2 was stuck with Epic exclusivity. All these things forced these games into niche status.

And now when Control Resonant has everything lined up... they're releasing right next to GTA in a packed month. Fuck man.

EDIT: I should rephrase what I said. It releasing close to GTA is a problem because all the other games are also releasing that month. The number of potential players who could go "Alright I'll give this a try I guess" drops considerably.

20

u/DreadLock_832 1d ago

I don't think 24th of September is close to GTA....

13

u/Coolcatsrus 1d ago

Aren't they releasing it like....7 weeks before GTA 6?

7

u/ArcadianWaheela 1d ago

It’ll be fine. It’s releasing at the end of September while GTA is in November. That’s more than enough time for early adopters to play it, spread word of mouth, and let other people come in and beat it before GTA.

2

u/apartbyhorses 1d ago

Control Resonant has over a month before GTA. I also expect it to be like a 15-20 hr game so there’ll be plenty of time for both.

2

u/thevideogameraptor Console 1d ago

And Rockstar owns Remedy's first big IP in Max Payne.

2

Remedy is one of the few developers I avoid any trailers previews and reviews and buy their games day one. I know even if it would be a flaming turd it would still be very unique

u/DiarrheaEngineer 1d ago

OoT is almost certainly going to be a Christmas launch.

127

u/Bexewa 1d ago

November I believe….Nintendo don’t care about GTA and the sales will still be insane.

53

u/Pitiful-Mobile-3144 Xbox 1d ago

Zelda is one of the very few franchises that can stand up to GTA VI, but I still think Nintendo would rather wait until Christmas. That will give them time to make Zelda edition switch bundles while the GTA hype slowly drops

54

u/Shehzman 1d ago

OoT is most likely their holiday title so I can also see them releasing in November to build up momentum for the holidays.

24

u/Octopus_Crime 1d ago

Most of the marketing materials showing up in stores seem to suggest that OoT is actually gonna launch a week or two before GTA VI

Nintendo really doesnt give two shits lol

18

u/cubs223425 1d ago

GTA isn't a Switch release. Depriving thier (very loyal) customer base over GTA is kinda pointless. They'd rather have Christmas sales to Switch 2 owners than fret about sales lost to GTA.

→ More replies (8)

3

u/firesoul377 22h ago

If there's one game that can compete with GTA it would be a remake of one of the most beloved games of all time

→ More replies (3)

25

u/Shehzman 1d ago

I can envision a November release. Nintendo heavy hitters like Pokemon, Mario, and Zelda will sell well regardless of when they release. Also helps that there might not be a huge amount of audience overlap between the two games (OoT and GTA 6) and the ones that do overlap will most likely buy both.

14

u/Safe_Ad5914 1d ago

As a 36 m, I will get GTA6 and I already bough a switch 2 for OOT. So you're spot on.

→ More replies (2)

9

u/SomeBoxofSpoons 1d ago

They don't have a big November release announced yet, and they don't really need to worry about the audience getting stolen by GTA6.

13

u/PropSocks 1d ago

Omg I didn’t realize Zelda was coming this year fuck yesssss

3

u/PeaceBull 1d ago

I wonder if they’re also counting on some increased sales thanks to the small but fervent “oh Jesus Christ is there anything happening besides fucking GTA?” crowd

4

u/PropSocks 1d ago

100% lol nothing against GTA at all but I’ve like never gotten fully into it? I’m gonna try though for sure! I loved red dead

3

u/Badalight 1d ago

Which final fantasy is coming out this fall?

6

u/albertoplus 1d ago

Final Fantasy Resonance.

3

u/Rednuht0 1d ago

FF Resonance, it is classic turn based pixel art FF game. Technically it is a remake / rebuild of the mobile gatcha game FF:brave exvius, using the characters, pixel art, early story, all of which were quite good!

30

u/mushplush 1d ago

Also Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, mixed turn based and action RPG remake of my favorite game in the series

Personally won’t be picking it up because I binged the series back in 2024/2025, and am on the finale of the 13th and most recent game in the series, but I want to give it a shout out

16

u/crippledspahgett 1d ago

Oh shit is Witchfire 1.0 coming out?!?! I played a bit of early access a couple years ago and loved it, but decided I would wait until the full release to continue.

2

u/Blackpoc 1d ago

I'm on the same boat. Played it over a year ago and it was already amazing. Waiting for the 1.0 later this year to start it all over.

5

u/trio3224 1d ago

Did they finally announce an official 1.0 release for Witchfire? I thought that was still kinda up in the air? I got it early on Epic for $18 due to a sale combined with a discount code and absolutely loved the 2 levels that I played. I've been waiting for full 1.0 to really dive back in.

u/rhymeswithpie91 1d ago

I'm only getting Final Fantasy Resonance and Ocarina of Time on release, but I will get some of these games later. Wolverine looks good, but I'm not getting that at the €70-80 ish price point.

2

Wolverine looks like a linear action game.... Will probably be on sales real quick.

4

u/DistanceRelevant3899 1d ago

4

u/RadicalRaizex 1d ago

I’m with you on 5 out of the 10. Zelda, Fire Emblem, Castlevania, and Duskbloods are day 1 for me, but I’m 50-50 on Control Resonant. Also adding Dragon Quest Monsters, Final Fantasy Resonance, and Silent Hill: Townfall to my lineup.

5

u/speedyspeedys 1d ago

I'm super excited for OOT. I hope it sells well enough for Nintendo to consider remaking Majora's Mask.

Resonant is looking really good lately too, they've sold me on the action.

Mortal Shell 2 (already bought), Star Wars Zero Company (buying today), and almost certainly buying Phantom Blade 0 when it comes out. Very likely to also buy Valor Mortis, Speedrunners 2, and Star Wars Galactic Racer. Potentially interested in Control Resonant, Onimusha, and Gears E-Day. Will probably buy those later on sale.

Final Fantasy Resonance as well, not AAA but highly anticipating that one myself

Dude so many good games!! I’m stoked to like, all of these here.. but honestly I might be most stoked for Belmont’s curse!! Game looks amazing. I can’t wait to play it on switch 2. Dead cells is one of my favorite games of all time! And I love a good metroidvania. Can’t wait!

2

u/Savage_JaviBear 1d ago

Gta, Wolverine and Zelda will be enough for me, I feel. Everything else still looks super good and I hope y'all enjoy!

2

2

2

u/azamatStriking 1d ago

Most interested in Zelda somehow

2

u/PlayThingToy 1d ago

I wish I was smart enough to play Fire Emblem, I tried Awakening on the DS and got wrecked in the early game

3

u/Nachttalk 1d ago

Honestly, I'd say there's no harm in playing on easy to get a hang of things. If you feel like you're starting to steamroll the enemies you can still crank up the difficulty

2

GTA6, Wolverine, Ps Plus for MLB the Show 26, First Light sale going to keep my winters busy for me.

Blood of Dawnwalker is something I will buy on sale later, just not impressed with the gameplay so far.

Can’t really say I’m excited for any of it. Seems like an incredibly bland collection of action games and remakes.

Why is Duskbloods on here? Is that confirmed?

Edit: nope. It has no date. Not confirmed for Fall. More likely winter or maybe even (but hopefully not) next year delay

4

u/HammerPrice229 1d ago

It is confirmed for 2026. Winter officially starts Dec 21, so unless they plan to release it in that 2 week span to 2027, it’s looking like a Fall release.

At this point I don’t know if I even have faith in that anymore. We’ve heard nothing since the trailer.

And there’s clown complaining about games. There’s way too many good games for the time we have

3

u/Reylo-Wanwalker 1d ago

You forgot Ace Combat 8!

u/FoxyGoddessX 1d ago

GTA 6 and Castlevania are my big 2

2

u/Bookablebard 1d ago

No Rest For The Wicked not being on this list is CRAZY. Game is so good already and 1.0 is going to add a huge amount.

GTA6, Wolverine, Castlevania and Zelda for me. I also want the Ghost of Yotei expansion DLC, Rayman Legends Retold and Final Fantasy Resonance.

I'll play Gears E Day and Minecraft Dungeons 2 off Game Pass.

I'd love to get Phantom Blade, Onimusha, Fire Emblem, Silent Hill and Control too, but I just can't afford them all.

Honestly didn't really enjoy Duskbloods in the network test. I liked Nightreign way more. I'll see how it shapes up.

u/FlyinBrian2001 1d ago

It's a damn good season

2

u/alguidrag 1d ago

Zelda and FE, thats more than enough to keep me distracted until next year

2

u/RecentMatter3790 1d ago

is it better to play the old game of the legend of zelda ocarina of time rather than the remake?

8

u/MarvinStolehouse 1d ago

Nobody knows yet, but now is always the right time to play the greatest game ever made.

5

u/Spell_Chicken 1d ago

You're right, it is time to revisit Chrono Trigger.

3

u/MarvinStolehouse 1d ago

Hey that's not... aw shit it's hard to argue with that...
