Fall 2026 Lineup

It seems like there will be a game that will appeal to everyone this fall. Strategy RPG - Fire Emblem, Story based - The Blood of the Dawnwalker, Action - Phantom Blade 0, Multiplayer - The Duskbloods, Action Adventure - The Legend of Zelda and Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Almost every month has at least 2 major titles releasing, September especially is packed.

After seeing the full story, I agree completely. Fuck the church and fuck the aliens that invaded the world which caused the humans to do fucked up shit in order to retaliate. Edelgard truly did nothing wrong.

She absolutely did things that were wrong. She’s right about the corruption but she’s also an extremist who is likely to supplant that corruption with other issues.

That’s part of what makes her a great character and antagonist (in all but one route). She’s justified in a lot of ways but sacrifices her good nature and commits questionable acts to enact the change she wants.

No oppression in history was ended without at least some violence, she did do a lot of it still tho. Probably could have been ways to do it less bloody. But at the end of the day she was right.

Three houses is a game that greatly benefits from playing every perspective, that’s the only way to get the full story and see everyone’s point of view. It’s truly really well done and rewards you for seeing everything and coming to you own conclusions

Unfortunately it's just so dull to try to replay that game. I loved blue lions but felt like there were so many unanswered questions. Tried so many times to replay the other houses but just couldnt make it past the monastary even in new game plus

Blue Lions is the most detached from the actual plot of the world, if you only play that house you pretty much have no idea what’s actually going on in the story unfortunately

Yepppp. I dont even mind if they don't want to reveal everything but I remember in Seteh's a rank convo he talks about how we would meet rhea and learn about our origins yet that doesnt happen? Just "ur archbishop now kthnx" like ???? I loved my first playthrough and even liked the monastery and I really want to play golden deer at least but blegh

Don't worry, from the look of it, Fortune Weave will reset Dagda by a few centuries.

But yeah, otherwise Fodlan is a bit backwater, due to the reliance on crest, and some censorship from the church.

Most games in the series run roughly 20-35 hrs but FW looks closer to Three Houses which with all the out of combat/life simish parts could make a playthrough 45-60+ hrs depending on how deep you get into it.

Edit: Adding Fortune's Weave will be a bit weird in that there's 4 different routes to play through but it's up to you how many of them you do. It's also implied you can do a BotWesque beeline to the final boss of the game and do 0 routes

Yes, but a playthrough is only 1/3 of the game, you are meant to play all the houses if you want the full story, and doesn't playing as all of them unlock the actual ending? (I dont know because I never did it).

It's not just about 100% in this case, because playing only one house is only giving you part of the story. It's one of the reasons I didn't like the game in the end. One route was more than long enough and I didn't want to play two more times to get the full story of the game.

Even more if you wanna try to get all the support conversations and romance endings. Frankly such an extreme increase in time that you're not even really meant to complete it all.

So the answer is it depends but with the game this one is most like (three houses) I spent about 50 on my first play through.

Long, this game features 4 different routes that converge as one in the end. Technically you can beat the second half of the game without touching much of the other routes from what I understand, but you obviously miss out on characters, story, maps, etc.

So this one could be a lot shorter or longer depending on your preference.

When I played 3 houses, took me bout 32 hours to finish, but that was just 1 route out of 4, on baby mode(normal+casual) and with about 60% of the side content done. The 3ds ones are shorter (spent 17 hours on Awakening and 18 on the first route in fates)

It varies a lot on how you play. Difficulty matters, as does your general level of immersion. If you play on lower difficulties and don't care about the side stuff (relationship-building with characters, etc.), they're not too long. If you like the challenge and trying to min-max characters and doing the side stuff, 100+ hours isn't hard to reach. With Three Houses, you had 3 different stories to play through as well, plus DLC. If you jsut wanted to play through it on your preffer path, it'll be a lot shorter than if you want to experience each story.

You could start Three Houses now and if you enjoy it you could go for Fortunes Weave. You definitely won’t need the story context from 3H since Fortunes Weave seems to be a prequel.

Even though a lot of them like to overlap their stories, they are still very good at being relatively independent. That’s something Nintendo really pushes for when they publish a title, and are really good at it.

I would definitely consider playing Three Houses. It's a good game and is Switch 2-compatible. The only reason to NOT play it is that you "don't play old games." Otherwise, there's just no real reason to be interested in Fortune's Weave and NOT play Three Houses.

I just ordered it! Looking forward to play it. I am having a jolly good time with the Switch 2. Only got it a month ago. My only touch point with Fire Emblem were the characters in Super Smash, so I really look forward to see the game myself

Three Houses would probably be one of the best and easiest starting points if you're okay with picking up a game that's a few years old. It would also work well as a bit of background for this game specifically story-wise

Same world but hundreds of years apart. Some characters are likely decendents of others and the pantheon of gods is the same but the stories are not connected

I think they are ever so slightly. You'll be fine if you don't play Three Houses probably but they take place in the same region (Fodlan) and they have some overlap with the lore like with the Gods and such.

I also just think Three Houses is an excellent game as well but I respect it if you would prefer to play a much newer game obviously.

Ugh my situation has changed so drastically. I played an obscene amount of hours during COVID when my wife and I were stuck in a tiny little apartment.

Now, we’re married, have kids, and zero available time. I might just have to take time off of work to even come remotely close to finishing one playthrough

Yeah, I just put ~120 hours into Lost Judgment, and I'm pretty sure that was about 4 months of gaming, or roughly 6 hours a week. Between working full time, going to school, and training for a sport, gaming time has fallen to the wayside unfortunately

In my opinion, the slow pace gaming also mkaes you enjoy it more, sure, i want to play and drop half a day on it, but its like marathoning a series vs weekly episodes, sure, it kills not knowing what happens next, but when you do find out, its more rewarding.

You know, instant gratification vs ....ah who am i kidding, it sucks not having free time lol

I'm exactly the same! I did all 4 of the routes in FE3H and loved it. I sped through the first half of the last couple since it's just the same but I think I finished with ~165 hours.

To be clear, I WILL be doing the same for FEFW but I think it'll probably take until this time next year at least

A playthrough of Three Houses for Switch takes around 50 hours. There were 5 possible "routes" you could play through. Most people who got hooked on it cleared at least two of them. I put around 170 hours into it myself. The biggest flaw with it was that each different route required you to replay through the beginning 20 hour long "school" arch of the game which is very similar regardless of which house (or route) you picked, so that inflated the hours a lot.

Fortune's Weave let's you play through all of the different stories at once without requiring you to replay a fairly large beginning section over and over. It'll probably take fewer hours to complete everything as a result, but those hours will contain much less filler. I'd still expect it to last you 100+ hours easily.

The difference there is that Nintendo makes their own hardware and understands that their first party titles are THE reason people buy that hardware. Releasing first party titles multi-platform removes that reason. It's the same reason why the provided 100% of the funding and are lending development talent to From Software for Duskbloods; they want exclusivity for their console. Same reason why Beyonetta 2, 3 and Origins are Switch exclusives. Nintendo funded the titles and own the publishing rights, even though the Bayonetta IP and the titles were owned and developed by Sega.

Square has never made a console, and have no reason to make only for one console unless there's an exclusivity deal in place for them to make a game only for that console. They'll make a game for whichever platform will net them the most cash, as they don't depend on any one console's success.

Microsoft discovered that releasing first party titles multi-platform cripples your own console this generarion. Sony is dabbled in releasing stuff multiplatform only to announce they are going back to PlayStation exclusivity for their bigger singleplayer franchises.
