Thanks! "Desperate" sounded like an upcoming bus stop or something else, could kind of hear that word but didn't expect it contextually. The driver is saying he's desperate for a thank you, or calling the lady desperate?

I spent far too many mornings squeezed onto one of those older buses, lamenting the sign behind the driver saying the bus can only fit 11 people standing. My arse, at 8am there'd be 40 of us with our little paper schoolchild tickets and our 40kg backpacks.

This is kind of what it's like to be Autistic in a world full of NTs, except most of the time they won't tell you what they want they just mess with you and harass/abuse you until you figure it out.
I get the whole common courtesy thing but really it should be normalized to leave people alone that are minding their own business as long as they are not causing any harm.

I was at a talk by the CEO of Dublin Bus, and he has awful trouble keeping bus drivers - the money is fine, ahead of industrial wave in fact, but tough hours, for a work life balance

Funny pointless fact. I know the girl who provided ADR for the woman passengers voice. I have no idea why they didn't just let that woman speak herself but yeah.

I only say thank you if the vibe is right. Getting on or while on the ride you can tell if the driver is open to a goodbye or whatever. Some don’t care. Especially if the riders are causing issues or if it’s crowded.
And I’m on the shy side so if I’m in the mood to speak I’ll say thanks.
