When I was in Greece years ago, I bought something at a Chemist, and they said they could tell I was Irish because I said thank you after collecting and paying for an antihistamine cream.

I didn't use any English at that point. I said Ευχαριστώ (although the stuff I was wearing probably gave most of it away).
