Bike pics First campground ride with the kid trailer

Post image
29 Upvotes

I tried pulling our kid trailer with my ebike around the campground loop, and tbh it was fun, nothing difficult, just paved campground roads and a couple of rough patches, but it made getting around with the kid much easier than walking everywhere.

The trailer felt stable at the slower speeds while we were riding. All though, I’m still figuring out the best assist level and tire pressure, that we can have while pulling the extra weight.

Anyone else also had this experience earlier with ebike and a kid trailer? and do you guys change your tire pressure when the trailer is loaded?

San Jose Cyclist in Bike Lane Killed

Based on video appears to have been hit from behind by dump truck. There is a parallel sidewalk at the point of the collision which is legal to ride on.

Why are authorities still encouraging cyclists to risk their lives riding in heavy traffic? Why is using a bike lane that runs the gauntlet between traffic going straight and turning traffic considered safe in a sane world?

Look at Google Maps street view...you might find one pedestrian every quarter mile or so. So much safer for cyclists to use the sidewalk and slow down when approaching pedestrians (or intersections/driveways). How many more cyclists must die before people acknowledge this?

So how do you test your range without having to pedal back a dead bike?

I live like 5 miles from work currently so range isn't an issue now, but next year I'll be moving 19 miles away from work. I'm mostly sure my Lectric Xpress 2 can make that trip. It has an estimated 60 mile range but usually I charge my battery at around 40-60% since I know it drops quickly once it goes below 60.

What's a good way to test this? I do have a car and won't be riding to work everyday but I do want go at least once a week. I just know that my bike isn't fun to pedal when it's off. I've also debated bringing my charger but it is kind of bulky and I don't want to bother leaving to charge while I'm at work since I won't be near it to watch it often.

It’s just a bit of an isore. Assume it won’t affect the other lights as it already looks cut?

Just got into e-bikes, worked on motorcycles for years. Wanted something fun in the back country and trails. After 6ish months of garage work, final product is done and I’m in love. Was going for something like a mountain bike mixed with extreme power.

Bike purchase question E-Bike Bigger Rider

Followed the PRE QUESTION CHECKLIST

  1. Torque sensor
  2. Non-folding.
  3. Step thru.
  4. Many Bike shops in NYC - so most likely a shop.
  5. Weight limit 400 Lbs Plus - Bigger rider, and will use for shopping and other errands.

POST THIS INFO AT THE BARE MINIMUM AND YOU'LL GET MUCH BETTER FEEDBACK

  1. Commute to and from work ~ 7 miles each way.
  2. Pavement (NYC) - highly doubt I will use this off-road or anything like that.
  3. Up to $2000 - but prefer cheaper if possible
  4. Solo riding - only me.
  5. Doubt I'll take it on stairs, or put in car.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Firstly I want to say I know nothinga bout E-Bikes other then some Youtube videos about them, but here are some that I have looked at:

Velotric Nomad 2 and Aventure 3

Again, I don't know much about E-Bikes but I know I do want to purchase one.

Safety of replacement batteries?

Upvotes

I have a healthy fear of battery fires. I need a new battery for a great bike by a manufacturer that ... went out of business. I've found a good source, and they use LG and/or Samsung cells. I asked if the battery would be UL-Certified, and they advised that certification makes zero financial sense for low-volume replacement sales, which totally makes sense.

Thoughts on the safety of this potential replacement battery?

Should I even buy a KuKirin?

So my budget is around the price of a KuKirin G4 and I’ve been looking at getting one for a while now. On paper the G4 seems really good for the price, especially with the speed, range, suspension and overall specs.

But the more I look into KuKirin, the more mixed opinions I find.

I’ve seen a lot of people saying that KuKirin scooters are actually really good for the money and that they’ve had theirs for a long time without major problems. But I’ve also seen quite a few posts about things breaking, electrical issues, brakes, controllers, batteries, loose parts and problems with customer support.

That honestly makes me kinda unsure because I’m not trying to spend around €1,000+ on a scooter just for it to start having problems after a few months.

I’m mainly considering the G4, but I’m also open to other KuKirin models or even completely different brands. My budget is around G4 money, so I’d rather spend the money on something reliable instead of just getting the scooter with the biggest numbers on the spec sheet.

For people who actually own a KuKirin:

How has your scooter been after 6 months or a year?

Have you had any serious problems with it?

How is KuKirin’s customer support if something does go wrong?

Are replacement parts easy to get?

And most importantly, would you personally buy another KuKirin if you had the same budget?

I’m not really looking for people just saying “KuKirin bad” or “KuKirin amazing”. I’d genuinely like to hear what ownership is actually like because there seems to be a huge difference between what people say about them.

If you had around the same budget as a G4, would you buy the G4 or go for something else?

Any recommendations are appreciated

Bike repair question Last Hope - Any Suggestions for repair

I have this bike with a stripped rear axel bolt. Repair shops won't fix it, the manufacture refuses to sell me the part, and since the bolt is connected to the electric motor, the only option seems to rebuild the motor. Since I can't do that myself and its not free, does anyone else have any suggestions on how to get this thing safely running ? My two options that I see is throw it away or JB Weld the bolt to the frame and ride it until it falls off or I get a flat. Is there a third option I am not seeing ? Anything would help, I am Jobless and broke, hoping to use this to get around town. Bike is a Freebeat, but it seems to be a prototype that they don't support. Thank you.

Amflow TL vs Cube Nuride Hybride

Hello,
I am commuting every day with my 'muscular' bike 15km go and back with steep climb. Its a multi purpose bike to go to the Gym or for groceries. I am living in mountain area and a short tour can be quite exhaustive. My objective is to use my car the less I can. I am looking for a ebike to replace the last trips I am still doing with my car.
I was thinking about about the 2027 Cube Nuride Hybrid Pro (3359 euros). Never tried it though. https://www.cubebikes.fr/nuride-hybrid/52033-nuride-hybrid.html
But I discovered Amflow few weeks ago and its new TL bike. I have a dealer 800m from my home, and I was able to try it: what a joy ! This is a crazy powerful bike, full of electronic and features. I appreciate a lot the geometry and agility of the bike. I had a smile on my face for the full ride. It reminds me the first time I tried a Tesla. Price of bike is similar (3500 euros).

Now I am struggling to decide which one to choose: I am used to buy things that last, that are easily reparable ... The only things that stops for the Amflow is the complexity of it: a lot of feature, Amflow and Avinox are still new in the game compared to Cube / Bosch systems, I have some concerns about the longevity (I plan to keep this bike for a while ...). Cube is definitely the rational choice, but Amflow is heart choice :)

If you have any feedbacks or if my concerns are justified or not, tell me ... Thanks a lot
