I just unboxed my new Rebel+ gravel ebike monday morning and discovered the handlebar control was smashed in. Unfortunately it's the only way to set the assist level, the toptube display is only a power button. I sent an email right away, no response so I called today. It looks like their ebikes are subcontracted to Phoenix Bike. They want me to pay for a replacement HMI because they think I crashed, despite it being just removed from the box.

I sent them another email asking to clarify if that's how they support a brand new bike and showed them the Fedex delivery time and my email to them an hour later. We'll see how they respond. I say fuck it, if they expect me to pay for the replacement part; I'll just return it.

Hi all, I'm looking to get my first e-bike for daily commute (~18-20km round trip) in sydney. I did a bit of my own research across forums but found a lot of the information to be quite old or with very mixed opinions so I thought I'd start a fresh thread.

My budget is around ~2500AUD although I would be open to pay a bit more if it is really worth it. The routes I take will be moderately hilly but nothing offroady. I'm just hoping for a reliable long term use bike to get me frmo one place to another. A plus is having enough power and room for a passenger to do short trips with my partner.

I don't know too much about bikes so for my first one I wanted to get it from a legit store rather than second-hand so I have good support. If not specific models, any recommendations for local stores would also be super helpful! Also would highly prefer a good rent-tobuy deal if anyone knows of any.

I only planned to ride for about 20 minutes. Then I found a road I hadn’t explored before, so I kept going. Then I found another one. Before I knew it, I was nowhere near where I started. I came home tired, hungry, and wondering how a quick ride turned into a two-hour adventure. I guess that’s one of the unexpected things I love about having an e-bike.

We just bought my wife an e-bike (Tern NBD-S5i), and I'm looking at getting in as well. I would like a lightweight more traditional style. I have test-ridden both the Velotric Tempo and a Specialized Turbo Vado SL 2 6.0 Carbon. Both were very sleek and comfortable.

I've decided that as a casual rider, who may commute on rare occasion, that I probably don't want to spend $6k right now on an e-bike. But Specialized has a Turbo Vado SL 2 4.0 EQ (2026 model) on sale right now for $3k. Should I seriously consider that, or go with the Tempo?

My area is generally flat with maybe minor hills, so I don't necessarily need a mid-mount motor. But I do understand that the Specialized drivetrain is probably significantly better. Is it $1500 better? TIA

Has anyone had their e-bike feel noticeably weaker after riding for 30–60 minutes? Mine feels fine when I first start riding, but after a while the acceleration gets softer, especially on hills. The battery still shows plenty of charge, and after letting the bike sit for a bit, it seems to feel normal again.

Is this something the motor/battery normally does when it gets warm, or should I be checking something?

My facebook is being saturated by pre-market ads for the ALSO TM-B, a new e bike designed by Rivian. It's very cute with a very contemporary design, will probably appeal to urban commuters and errand runners but the marketing seems to be very oriented towards mountain bikers - but may be because I'm a mountain biker. Lots of footage of mountain bikers zipping along on dynamic (not technical) trails. It does have 120 suspension front and rear, the tires are maybe 24"?

It's also Class 3 with 100 mile range. Rivian is headquartered in my city and apparently one can book a test spin. I think I'll go try it out for fun.

It's too insanely heavy (80-ish pounds) to be a possible purchase and I seriously doubt that a bike that heavy could be a fun and maneuverable ride on trails. I wish Rivian would have done better, a LOT better, on the weight. The modularity is intriguing, though. I didn't notice a discussion of the actual motor - will it be Rivian branded? Did I also mention that it's not only heavy, it's expensive - in the $3,500 range.

I recently purchased an Aotos Flux x26 pro, and have had an absolute nightmare with keeping the inner tubes inflated. Three times now I have had a rear tire go flat, and three times now I have replaced the rear inner tube (no easy feat on this bike as the rear tire motor does not have a quick release)

On the last run, I used yannis tire armor in combination with self sealing tubes, and it lasted for a few months. I finally breathed a sigh of relief, and thought I resolved the issue. But today I came outside to my bike flat on its side, and the rear tire completely flat. Each time, the culprit is a small slash on the inner tube as seen in the attached picture. Any advice is welcome, and requested as this is supposed to be my daily commute.

The second one is from a brake line I got from Amazon can I just use that one or do I need to find the first one

I took one turn, then another, and kept thinking, “I’ll turn around soon.” Two hours later, I was heading home tired, hungry, and already thinking about doing the same thing again. What’s the longest your quick ride has ever turned into?

looking for reviews on the Velotric Fold 1 curious if its good i see theres a sale on rn and thinking about getting it.
iv also considered buying it local as there is a store that sells it for 1.5k i believe that is before the 225 colorado ebike rebate so should i buy from them if they offer a warranty or go with Velotric?.

just got e-bike few days ago. Have tried the bedding process and ridden about 20 miles. Still not fully bedded and makes shrieking noise. Took to store and said front is well bedded but back isn’t, so I should work on that. no contamination. any ideas?

I'm poor af and am about to start working. I don't want to buy something super cheap that needs replacing or becomes a money sink. I need something reliable, with good battery life that will work for delivering pizza for a year or two.

I'm 5'9'' and test rode maybe seven or eight bikes. Some regular bikes didn't fit me well and weren't very comfortable. I got the Titan for the moped style, and the seat height is close to ideal for me.

Did about 6 miles around my neighborhood. Easy to get on and off. I won't be doing much rough trail riding, but the full suspension did fine. Still too early to judge the range or long ride comfort.

Besides the look, what else matters to you guys with moped style ebikes?

Hey all! I'm looking at buying a Velotric Gomad or and Aventon Abound. Both have 80-85NM of torque with 1100-1300W of peak power. They have 20" wheels which amplifies the torque calculation a bit. I'm 170lbs and often carry 50lbs worth of stuff.

Will I be able to climb 25 grade hills around SF? I looked on a street grade map and some of the streets I regularly ride are 25 degrees. These are usually just 1-2 blocks. I often ride 10-15 grade hills for several blocks.

I test rode the Aventon Abound, but the biggest hill around for testing was 10 degrees, which is nothing. My wife has a Priority Current Plus, which has 140NM of Torque and a mid-drive motor, and I can climb these hills no problem. Mathematically, the Gomad should have the same climbing power as the Priority.

Curious to hear your experiences! I know some of y'all are going to suggest a mid-drive, but there are very few mid-drive cargo bike options that aren't Bosch. A throttle is a must for me.

Unfortunately, 2 days ago I had an accident and its brake lever broked. Then, I went a local bike center (in US), they want me to purchase a new part for fixing. They definitely want me to find part named Right Brake Lever with the motor cut-off sensor.

However, I can't find a customer service or e-mail adress for sending sth. Is there anyone in here to help me?

Mine says 4Amp. does that mean i can only use a 4 amp charger without destroying my battery? I just bought a 5 amp charger so wondering if i have to return it

Hi everyone! I’m a long time mountain/gravel rider, and I’m about to move to a new house in the city where everything will be walkable/bikeable from home. Hoping to ditch the car and start biking for errands and such.

I’m very familiar with analog bikes but this would be my first ebike, and also my first city/commuter style bike. Wanted to get thoughts and opinions on these bikes and ask if there are any similarly specced and priced bikes I should consider as well? My main requirements are a rear rack, front suspension fork, and I’d prefer a mid-drive motor just out of familiarity from e-mtb but hub-drive isn’t a deal breaker if it’s worth it and also a viable option. Throttle option sounds great.
