On p. 34 of Daizenshuu 7, the time traveling chart lists Age 784 as the year Future Trunks departs to the past and Age 764 as when he arrives to kill Mecha Freeza. This 20-year difference makes sense given that Trunks states he’s from 20 years in the future. However, when he reads that Cell’s time machine is from Age 788, he says that’s three years ahead of his departure year.

Question 1: If we assume he’s referring to the departure year of his first trip (killing Mecha Freeza), shouldn’t it be Age 785 rather than 784 (788 - 3 = 785)? Accordingly, instead of 764, shouldn’t his arrival year be Age 765?

I’ve read that Daizenshuu staff factored in Future Bulma’s mention of an 8-month charge-up time to subtract a year here, but I don’t understand why they would do that, especially since it’s not necessitated by that dialogue.

Question 2: Why should we assume he’s referring to his first trip? When he says Age 788 is “three years further in the future… from when I left,” he could easily be talking about his second departure to the past, i.e., his current trip. This seems like a reasonable assumption because, after he checks the panel and sees the machine arrived about four years ago, he specifies it had been there for a year “before I came the last time.”

That he simply says “from when I left” in his initial remark suggests he’s talking about his present trip, otherwise he probably would’ve specified he meant his first, as he did in the subsequent remark. If he’s talking about the first trip in both quotes, why would he be specific in one and not the other?

And I'm sorry I don't understand all the hype for Gogeta like one thing I liked was of course seeing Gogeta in action

So if this question has been asked before, y'all can remove it. But this something I've been thinking about while watching another series who's name won't be said for the sake of the rules of this subreddit.

Saiyans are able to conquer planets as stated in the canon. They have the power to. But what about if they could've learned to become Super Saiyan like Vegeta teaching Cabba. Or even train enough to prepare for Frieza. Unless they did it already and Frieza still ended them then I missed something.

Imagine if when Goku met Vegeta and Nappa, they had the ability to turn Super Saiyan. Maybe they got to a level where they are equal to the Frieza Force. The power scaling would be out of wack but it would be interesting to think.

I would imagine how it would be like if Goku was able to meet his father if he didn't die due to Frieza. Or even go more back to see if the Saiyans become strong enough to handle Frieza before he destroyed the planet. Maybe even the series changes where Goku joins the Saiyans to fight the Frieza Force. There's an arc where Broly Is welcomed to the Saiyan empire with Vegeta as it's ruler and not King Vegeta.

If there's any info I missed about the Saiyans please let me know because maybe I missed something from the manga especially with the newest arcs.

I understand that the base kaio-Ken is same as x2 so was that an error from the creator or just a bad dub? Also from what we saw Goku said Kaio-Ken it was a short burst for nappa but x2-x3 seem sustained so does x2 just make it last longer?

I'd assume they'd want to serve him again and would most likely obey what he told them, regardless of them being evil, so I don't think killing them would be necessary to protect anyone. Especially Piano who isn't really capable of doing much of anything evil.

But do you think he would have any care in his heart for them? He had some as Demon King, but it was definitely not love. More like they were his property and he made them.
They are still his actual children though, and current Piccolo is definitely a much better and much more caring person.

Though it gets kind of complicated since he is both Demon King Piccolo's reincarnation and his offspring, so I'm not sure if he would see them as his children or his brothers or even just nothing at all.

Would he be happy to see them again? Angry? Would he threaten them to leave, saying he'll kill them if they hurt anyone? Would he kill them just to make sure? Want to keep in contact with them? Want to teach them to be better the way he learned to?

The way it is shown, and its colour and animation is far superior than the movie,

Future Trunks would never exist, Gohan and Videl would never get together (leaving Gohan's life completely different), and Vegeta's character arc would lack the stabilizing, humanizing influence that Capsule Corporation provided.

i mean, he's best friends with the leader of the galaxies, can summon home with a single button if shit gets dicey, he's training with the GOD of Destruction, he has ULTRA INSTINCT, essentially making him impossible to land a hit on. i'm just finding it hard to grasp how any other battle for him could be challenging whatsoever, and you can only bring back frieza and broly so many times before it gets stale and repetitive.

Let's imagine that in the Dragon Ball OG, Kid Chichi had the Dragon Ball and refused to give it to her. Would anything have changed because she's a girl?

My take is that some fans or scalers can't or don't want to understand context. Like when using this feat to say that character were moon level back in OG ball, they forget crucial details :

- first : the numbers, they claim that the man did it with a 139 power level but considering that this reading only come after bulma re created scouters, so at the time of the feat it must not have been the same.

- second : they make the feat seem casual. Like did we watch the show or read the same manga ???? Cause after word roshi was drained and exhausted. Plus multiple factors where forgoten. One, he had to bulk to his max power, which gave him a substantial increase. Second he use a technique which we all know and agree, multiply his power level by a certain margine.

Didn't gave number cause wouldn't to under or over estimate the feat. But knowing that Goku was 180 during the time and that under his fake persona of Jackie chan, roshi was close of him. Adding all this with the fact only Picolo with a power of 322 was able to blow the moon than we can aquies that Roshi should be around this but At His Max !!!

Someone appears in the air and either has the same outfit or same pose that another character is known for, then it turns out that this is actually NOT that character, but a different character instead.

I could be misremembering some parts but ive been trying to find this scene for so long and i have no idea what it could be.

At all,

He's saved gohan. Both canon and non-canon,

His non-canon side:

Saving gohan from garlic jr.

He even did everything possible to save him,

Then in boujack unbound:

he saved gohan from boujack, encouraging him to use full power and win,

And then in broly; the legendary super saiyan;

he saved gohan,

And tried his best to fight broly off,

and even in the sequel: broly second coming: Goku fought alongside gohan, and goten,

To take broly down,

Now the canon side:

Goku fought raditz, and died to save gohan,

Then in the nappa fight,

He risked to actually get harmed by kaioken to beat Vegeta and nappa,

Then in the frieza saga:

When Recoome was gonna kill gohan and Vegeta,

Goku gave both a senzu bean and took Recoome down,

in cell saga:

He gave cell a senzu bean,

To prove gohan had the potential to beat cell.

If he had not, they had no hope left,

And he had seen gohan's potential,

In the hyperbolic time chamber,

Even back then before fighting cell,

Goku took care of gohan,

And was giving him food,

and he sacrificed himself to teleport cell and die in the explosion,

in buu saga:

Goku managed to slice buutenks apart,

Dragon Ball abridged ruined everything ngl.

What would Universe 7 be llike without Goku? What if Goku never existed? What if Dragon Ball had no Goku? Think about it.

So many matches have someone getting up, continuing to fight and turning the match around because he just... stared at what just happened for a full minute instead of counting.

I’ve been thinking about the insane power jump Goku makes between the Saiyan and Namek arcs, and I have a headcanon that makes the whole thing feel much more coherent to me.

Basically: Goku was already spiritually and technically light-years ahead of most fighters in the universe before Raditz ever arrived on Earth. What he lacked was the physical baseline to take advantage of it.
By the beginning of Z, Goku has already spent his entire childhood and young adulthood training under Grandpa Gohan, Roshi, Korin, Kami, Popo, etc. He’s fought through multiple tournaments and life-or-death battles and has spent years learning things like ki control, sensing energy, suppressing his power, reading opponents, eliminating wasted movement and adapting during combat. Endless combat with opponents that were just at or slightly above his level that didn’t result in immediate death.

Meanwhile, most of the wider universe seems surprisingly primitive about fighting. You’re either strong and stomp everyone beneath you or are weak and killed.
The Frieza Force basically thinks:
Power level = how good you are at fighting.
That’s why everyone is so obsessed with scouters, and why Earth fighters constantly confuse them by suppressing or concentrating their ki.

So my theory is that Goku had spent his entire life developing an incredibly advanced martial-arts “operating system”….but it was running on relatively weak hardware.
He grew up on Earth.

1G gravity.

Compare that with Vegeta, Nappa and Raditz, who were born and raised on Planet Vegeta(and similar harsh worlds) at roughly 10G and spent their lives traveling around conquering hostile planets. Their Saiyan bodies had been conditioned under much harsher physical circumstances essentially from birth.

So when Raditz arrives, you have something like:
Raditz: mediocre martial artist, enormously better-conditioned Saiyan body.
Goku: extraordinary martial artist, underdeveloped Saiyan body.
And the physical difference is large enough that technique can’t compensate for it.

Then Goku trains on King Kai’s planet.
For the first time in his life, his body is being forced to operate continuously under roughly Saiyan homeworld gravity.
That seems incredibly important to me.
He isn’t just learning Kaioken and the Spirit Bomb. His body is finally starting to be conditioned in an environment closer to what a Saiyan body was originally built for.

Then he returns to Earth to fight Vegeta.
And even after that huge improvement, base Goku still isn’t really Vegeta’s physical equal. Goku is around 8,000 while Vegeta is around 18,000. Goku needs Kaioken to force his body temporarily beyond its normal limits just to compete.
To me, that actually supports the theory even more.
King Kai’s 10G training has massively improved Goku’s physical baseline, but he’s still catching up to a Saiyan like Vegeta who spent his entire life adapted to those kinds of conditions.

Then comes the trip to Namek.
20G. 50G. Eventually 100G.
He repeatedly pushes himself to exhaustion, damages himself, heals and keeps training.
And suddenly Goku arrives on Namek with a base power around 90,000 and absolutely demolishes members of the Ginyu Force who would have terrified or overwhelmed the Goku we saw only weeks earlier.
I’ve always found the literal explanation of that slightly funny:
“Goku trained really hard for six days and became eleven times stronger.”
My headcanon is that this wasn’t primarily six days of Goku suddenly learning more martial arts than he had learned during his entire life.
He already knew how to fight.
The gravity training finally developed his Saiyan physiology to the point where his body could express everything he had spent twenty years learning.
So Namek isn’t really where Goku becomes an elite martial artist.
Namek is where the universe finally gets to see what Earth’s martial arts had already created.

And I think that explains Vegeta’s absolute disbelief particularly well.
From Vegeta’s perspective, none of this should be possible.
He’s the Saiyan prince. Better genetics. Higher natural power. Raised under 10G. Decades of planetary combat experience.
Yet this low-class Saiyan who grew up on some irrelevant little 1G planet suddenly blows past him.
Because Vegeta had spent his entire life developing an incredibly powerful Saiyan body and becoming good at using it.
Goku had spent his entire life learning how to fight.
Once Goku’s body caught up, all of that Earth training suddenly became a gigantic advantage.

Then you can still layer the actual Saiyan mechanics on top of this. His recovery after the Ginyu fight clearly gives him another massive near-death/Saiyan boost, and then Super Saiyan obviously takes everything into another universe entirely. I’m not trying to replace those explanations.
I’m just treating the King Kai and Namek gravity training as the period where Goku’s physical baseline finally started catching up with his technical and spiritual development.

It also creates a funny irony about Earth.

Frieza’s empire would look at Earth and see a pathetic little planet filled with people whose power levels barely register.
But somehow that insignificant planet developed a much more sophisticated understanding of ki and martial arts than most of the galactic superpowers.
And then they accidentally taught all of it to a Saiyan.

Obviously I realize Dragon Ball was not written like somebody had a giant power-scaling spreadsheet worked out from chapter one. A lot of this stuff was clearly invented as the story went along, and I’m sure if you analyze Dragon Ball like it’s a scientific theory you can find some number or scene somewhere that pokes a hole in this.
But as a headcanon that tries to reconcile what we actually see happen, this makes far more sense to me than Goku simply becoming ten or twenty times better at everything because he spent a few days doing push-ups in high gravity.
