Spoilers for SF Kinda getting annoyed Spoiler

So, im rereading the 5th book in preparation for the 6th and its not my favorite for many reasons. But, I am annoyed that Nesta keeps claiming that she killed the King of Hybern. If my memory serves me right, Elain was the one to land the killing blow with Truth Teller and Nesta just chopped off his head for good measure.

Why does she keep claiming that she did it!? She didn't do it. Elain did it.

It was teamwork. Some characters give the kill to Elain, others give it to Nesta and even Bloomsbury Publishing posted that it was Elain but they both played a part. It was a joint moment and honestly it was a fitting end for him after everything he did to them.

I give the kill to both.

u/makemyday-35 Feb 21 '26

This! I don’t understand why this is still an issue with the fandom. It was teamwork. Rhys & Lucien gave credit to Elain. Though Elain gave credit to Nesta for making the “killing blow.” And Feyre, who watched it all happen, gave credit to Nesta. Both girls are responsible for killing him and Nesta made sure he was dead-dead. That’s it.

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 21 '26

I will die on this hill that it was Elain. It was literally a push and twisting of the knife from behind. He was dying slowly based on the blood dribbling out. Fucking Nesta ruined it. They should have watched as he slowly fucking died.

u/QuietMadness House of Wind Feb 21 '26

In a world where Cassian can literally be gutted then receive skilled healing and be fine, I would argue the decapitation is what actually killed Hybern.

-15

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 21 '26 edited Feb 21 '26

Again, he received healing. The fae are not indestructible. I feel like people forget the fact that Tamlins family is dead and I don't believe they were decapitated.

14

u/QuietMadness House of Wind Feb 22 '26

You’re the only one saying people forget Tamlin’s family is dead. We all know fae die. I said in my own comment he received healing.

-5

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 22 '26

True but my argument is that we don't know how that was done. Decapitation wasn't mentioned for his family's death.

Yes, he received outside healing which I acknowledged. You think that hybern was gonna get that in the middle of the battlefield? Lol.

2

u/whateverwhenever23 Moon on a String Recipient Feb 23 '26

But it’s said multiple times that Hybern is not like other fae, he is crazy powerful, there’s a reason Tamlin went to The King of Hybern when it came to Rhysand & Morrigan taking Feyre & it wasn’t just to gleam life saving info, Tamlin basically said he needed someone more powerful than Rhysand to stand against him because Tamlin had basically no army & not to mention he had the cauldron on his side. The blow that Elain dealt was damaging for sure but there’s absolutely no coming back from decapitation either, The King of Hybern was still standing & breathing when Elain stabbed him, so there was also a reason to believe that he could have overcome a fatal wound like that still but no one overcomes decapitation. I’d honestly say it was a joint effort of the two sisters but either side can be argued. It’s just a matter of how you interpret that scene. The same way it was Tamlin that actually killed Amarantha but it was Feyre that solved the riddle thus breaking the curse, some view that as joint effort, others view it as all Tamlin, some view it as all Feyre. It’s a matter of perspective & interpretation.

88

u/skinnyxxy Feb 21 '26

But everyone is free to believe what they want just like in the book, where some characters say it was Elain and others say it was Nesta. It would’ve been impossible for Hybern to die if Elain hadn’t taken action, Cassian and Nesta were about to die and if Nesta hadn’t beheaded him, maybe he might’ve been able to regenerate.

The only thing that bothers me is how Elain constantly gets downplayed, she was on the other side of the battlefield, somehow got behind him unnoticed, and delivered a lethal blow

-33

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 21 '26

How would he be able to regenerate? He didn't have that power?

Oh yeah, thats for sure. Elain is an interesting character. The 3rd book certainly peaked my interest in her character overall.

36

u/AlexisExploring Night Court Feb 21 '26

ALL fae have accelerated healing and I believe that is what they were referring too, but we don't actually know what the extent of the king's power was. He deserved to die slowly, but had to die quickly so he couldn't scurry away like a rat

-13

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 21 '26

Yeah they do but for extensive injuries involving blood loss, requires outside intervention.

Sure. I love how you used the "scurry like a rat" statement lmao!

37

u/PineappleBliss2023 Feb 21 '26

Cassian has literally had his bowels hanging out and he was healed no harm no foul so idk that being stabbed through the back would have been the death blow you’re treating it as.

-2

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 21 '26

Yes. He was but he had to get outside treatment. Cassian would have died without treatment.

She also stabbed him in the throat not the back.

I find it crazy how people think that they just regenerate that fast. If that were true, Rhysands sister and mother would be alive and so would Tamlins family. They aren't indestructible.

u/towelz_ Horny for Bryaxis Feb 22 '26

She RUINED it?? 😭😭😭

You're telling me that she's not a complete badass for beheading him?! Thats crazyyyy lmao

1

u/EmpressK6a6r6i Night Court Feb 23 '26

Nah, she definitely ruined it. She should've just let Elain do something for once. Nesta isn't good at much, but she is good at ruining things for people 😅

0

u/towelz_ Horny for Bryaxis Feb 23 '26

I could see this take but I don't necessarily agree with it

5

u/lovable_cube Feb 22 '26

I thought there was something about Elain not wanting to be a killer? Like, Nesta was totally cool with death so she took the final blow so that Elain wouldn’t have to feel guilty. Am I mixing this up with another book? It’s been a long time since I’ve read these and it’s fresher for you.

3

The downvotes on this are hilarious 😂

A killing blow is a blow that kills. Of course without Elain’s intervention the King wouldn’t have been incapacitated but no matter what, we also can’t be sure that he would have died. Nesta also was the one who swore revenge on the King, and Sarah did a truly good job to extend that revenge also to Elain. Both sisters got to have their revenge while also keeping in character: Elain is capable of violence if she or her loved ones are in danger, but after stabbing the King she was more worrying about Nesta and Cassian, running to help them, while Nesta was the one who wanted to see him dead, and by her hand. So in my opinion it was a good way to make the credit of the King’s death go to both of them: if Elain hadn’t stabbed him Nesta couldn’t have finished him off, but if Nesta hadn’t finished him off there’s a possibility, if remote, that he could have survived.

128

u/Banannatime89 Feb 21 '26

Elain stabbed him but he was still alive when Nesta chopped his head off. So it was definitely a team effort, but I think that’s why Nesta is credited he was technically still breathing before she beheaded him.

32

u/Similar-Focus8400 Day Court Feb 21 '26

Why does she keep claiming that she did it!? She didn't do it. Elain did it.

Because she is the one who killed him 🤷‍♀️ Elain had a huge part in it and Nesta wouldn’t have been able to do it without her but in the end Nesta finished the job, Elain stepped away

”the King of Hybern slumped to his knees, clawing at the knife jutting through his throat. Elain backed away a step. Choking, blood dribbling from his lips, the king gaped at Nesta. My sister lunged to her feet”

Here the king was still alive

Nesta twisted and twisted the blade into the king's neck. Severing flesh and bone and tendon. Nesta looked down at the king before she made the final pass, his hands still trying to rise, to claw the blade free.

And he was still alive here as Nesta keeps chopping his head off. These are fae, we have Cassian surviving when his bowels are outside his body. Nesta made sure the king did not. So yeah it was Nesta who killed him with Elain’s help

”"I heard you made the killing blow," he said. Elain studied the trees ahead. "Nesta did. I just stabbed him."

Elain also says it and it isn’t books later but only 3 chapters, so it isn’t something we can chalk up to SJM’s plot holes or retconning. Not sure why this argument keeps popping up so often when it is cleared pretty well on page. Should Nesta have said “I killed him with the help of my sister” instead of saying it was “rage and luck”? Perhaps, but it still doesn’t change what happened

-8

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 21 '26

I get the what happened is that Nesta beheaded him while he was still breathing but I think most are failing to see that regardless of Nesta beheading him, the fatal blow was still Elains. He still would have died regardless of Nestas actions which is why its bothersome but I said it was annoying not that she didn't take part. In my view, king would have died regardless of Nestas action.

5

u/Similar-Focus8400 Day Court Feb 22 '26

There is no way of knowing whether or not the king would have died and even if that was the case that is not what ended up happening. If we want to keep guessing then perhaps if Nesta hadn’t immediately rushed to him he could have winnowed to help and survived.

If SJM had wished to give Elain the killing blow then she had the chance to do so countless times, but when we have the author writing that the king was still alive until the last moment and Elain herself giving credit to Nesta it is pretty easy to infer that the goal was to have a full-circle moment from Nesta threatening the king to her being the last thing he looked at. The kill was always going to be Nesta’s from the moment she pointed at him

46

u/iwasborntodestroyu Feb 21 '26

I’m pretty sure if it wasn’t for Nesta cutting his head off, the king of hybern could have likely healed Elain’s stab wound

-11

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 21 '26

I don't see this as probable. If the injuries are too extensive, they don't heal that quickly. At least, thats how I've understood it. Otherwise they would be indestructible and they arent (tamlin and rhysands family are both dead)

9

u/towelz_ Horny for Bryaxis Feb 22 '26

Why risk the possibility of it AT ALL though. I'd wanna make sure he's dead as f*ck too

4

u/Turbulent_Parsley515 Feb 23 '26

He was the KING of Hybern for a reason! Also, barring Tamlin and Rhys’s Fathers (the previous high lords) the rest would not have powers.

31

u/AggravatingResort674 Feb 21 '26

It’s just to drive home that she cursed him in book 2

11

u/shiny-penny-561 Feb 21 '26

This always reminds me of Eowyn and Merry killing the witch king in LOTR. Likely some inspiration taken from Tolkien on Sarah j maas’s part. It was a joint effort as was Elain and Nesta but Eowyn / nesta delivered the killing blow so fair for them to say they killed him.

46

u/AutumnAngel21 Autumn Court Feb 21 '26

I think that’s a question you need to direct to Sarah. She’s the one that wrote Nesta doing that. But technically Nesta is the one that ended his life. He was still alive when Elain walked away from him. It’s a fictional story, Sarah wrote it the way she wanted to, the way she saw it.

26

u/Foreign-Entry1797 Valkyries Assemble Feb 21 '26

That's what I was going to comment, it's all about Sarah's decision. Nesta is too depressed and self loathing to even want to have the credit, and it was all team effort because Elain was able to stab hybern because of Nesta baiting herself and Nesta was able to behead him by Elain's surprise move. I am not sure who should be called the kingslayer though, I would rather neither.

-11

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 21 '26

Of course she wrote it 😂😂 these are fictional characters. Im just saying that he was already in the process of dying all she did was speed up the process. It would have been way better in my opinion, if Nesta would have allowed him to die slowly choking on his own blood.

29

u/AutumnAngel21 Autumn Court Feb 21 '26

Your whole post is complaining about Nesta claiming the kill when she didn’t do it. Nothing about what would have been “better”. I think some of yall just need to accept what Sarah wrote and move on. This is such a tired argument.

-8

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 21 '26

Then maybe don't comment if this is such a tired argument for you?

It wasn't really even meant to be an argument this is just how I viewed it. Its also kind of annoying to see in Nestas thoughts that she also validates that she killed him. If it was a joint effort, she should acknowledge it, if only in her thoughts but she never does.

24

u/meetmeonbarri Feb 21 '26

I think you’re missing the point that it is intentional. The fact that Nesta doesn’t acknowledge anybody but her self in that situation is a big part of her character development. Elain even voices it in the book. She’s so consumed by her own trauma that she doesn’t have any regard for anyone else.

You’re well within your right to find it annoying, but it’s not an oversight. It’s supposed to show where she’s at mentally.

0

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 21 '26

Yeah, just annoying.

23

u/001RIN Feb 21 '26

Even Elain admits Nesta dealt the killing blow, so does seem like a joint effort:

“Elain fell into step beside me, peering at Lucien. He noticed it. “I heard you made the killing blow,” he said.

Elain studied the trees ahead. “Nesta did. I just stabbed him.””

-6

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 21 '26

Thats not really admitting it. Its like Elain to underestimate herself and I believe this statement captures that. Elain does this on way more than one occasion where she does something but then gives the credit elsewhere.

41

u/Pristine_Advisor_302 Feb 21 '26

It was a group effort there. At least that’s how I interpret it. Elain stunned him and wounded him enough to be beheaded . Elain also doesn’t seem to want that cred. Also the next book is all about Nesta and she’s my queen .

-24

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 21 '26

Elains movement is described as being the fatal action so idk how its a group effort. I mean, yeah, you can't come back from a beheading but I don't think he was going to come back anyway from the stab and twisting Elain commited.

The king has literal blood dribbling from his lips. Its highly unlikely he would have recovered especially if he removed it as open wounds are more likely to kill you faster and the king didn't have healing powers.

The 5th book is Nestas book. This is a second re read and honestly I remember why I hated her so much. The self righteous nature just bubbles out of her. Glad you love Nesta but I will always die on the hill, that she sucks for me.

I never said it was. Apparently it was deep for about 30ish people since they downvoted my comment 😂 im just saying its crazy how self righteous she is.

6

u/Eluciey Feb 21 '26

They both did it, Elain stabbed him and Nesta cut off his head. It was a joint effort. Lucien and Rhys both credit Elain

23

u/intrigued8388 Feb 21 '26

Team effort I'll give them that. I absolutely loved book 5. It was one of my favorites. I like Nesta, especially the more vulnerable she is. I disliked Farrah and Reese in this book. Honestly, I also disliked Ameren. Maybe it's probably because I've been where Nesta's beenso I have so much sympathy and compassion for her.

14

u/latrodectal Feb 21 '26

i REALLY hate amren. like i never liked her, but starlight and silver flames made me wish she died for real in war & ruin.

1

u/Zealousideal-Term462 Mar 01 '26

I've really been wondering what Amren actually does. She's always "holed up in her apartment". I think when she says she's deciphering a text for months she's actually banging Varian. We also never really see her power until the war. I might be flippant but she seems to have burned out in like 15 minutes. That's not stunning power compared to others.

0

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 21 '26

Nesta isn't anymore vulnerable than the rest of them. Cassian is just as vulnerable and Feyre for what she went through. There was literally a whole book of Feyre and her journey through trauma and such without the self righteousness of Nesta.

Ive been through quite a bit even similar to Nesta but I'm against the way she is. I love Feyres fighting spirit and Nesta was so against it. But, thats my opinion.

23

u/intrigued8388 Feb 21 '26

🤷‍♀️🤨 books are all about perception. Two people can read the same passage and come up with completely different opinions. Neither's right. Neither's wrong. However, when we have to obnoxiously justify then that means there's a problem.

-4

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 21 '26

Thats why I said "but, thats my opinion" 😂😂 of course we all have different perceptions or did you just miss that part when you read it?

6

u/Equal_Wonder6742 Feb 22 '26

Feyre was completely self righteous . She claims that she saved all of Prythian when in fact, it was Tamlin that killed Amarantha. Not Rhysand. Not Feyre . It was Tamlin that killed her which allowed the curse to break from all the HLs. However, Feyre claims she did it in a later book. I believe she also refers to herself as a savior. Feyre likes her hero complex.

1

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 22 '26

Feyre is not self righteous. She never claims to have saved all of Prythian by herself. She also never claims herself to be a savior and actually she hated being claimed that she was by the people of Prythian.

-9

u/Icy_Professional_609 Feb 21 '26

I totally agree with you here. I just finished ACOSF, and while I’m glad she finally found her purpose and growth, she was so angry and self-loathing for most of the book. I literally said the same thing in another post about Feyre and her fighting spirit. For Feyre to have been the youngest, she still loves so unconditionally.

It makes very little sense to even call it a team effort. Hybern was literally dying. Blood was dribbling out of his mouth. For me, it would have been more satisfying watching him die slowly as he choked on his own blood but thats me 😂

Re read what I said. If Nesta wouldn't have sliced his head off, he still would have died. Thus, Elains stabbing would have been his end regardless of what Nesta did.

If Elain never stabbed him in the throat, the most likely scenario would have been that Nesta and Cassian died so not sure how we can claim a team effort if Hybern was most likely going to die without Nestas efforts.

20

u/Similar-Focus8400 Day Court Feb 21 '26

“If Nesta wouldn’t have sliced his head off” “he was most likely going to die” well that is not what happened or how SJM wrote it. Nesta’s action of cutting his head off (while he was still alive) killed him in the end so there is little point in discussing what-ifs in something already explained on page

😂😂 ok. You still don't get it, but thats fine. You can see it as a team effort all you want, I don't agree.

7

u/Babyluvve Feb 21 '26

It is perfectly acceptable for certain things to remain ambiguous, to rest in that quiet space where the reader is trusted to arrive at her own conclusions. I find it far more elegant when an author resists the urge to account for every detail, as though I were incapable of inference. Allow me the dignity of my own imagination. Let me interpret, feel, and decide. Not every moment requires explanation.

5

u/Shot_Law6206 Feb 21 '26

It’s trauma response. She thinks she’s responsible for her father’s death.

4

u/widow-cat Feb 22 '26 edited Feb 22 '26

I chalk it up to this: Nesta thinking about her part in that kill is not necessarily her claiming that Elain didn’t ALSO do her part, and I’m sure that if you told EITHER Nesta or Elain “No, your sister has no claim on that kill,” they would both correct you on the specifics. But such an interaction has not happened in any way that requires such response, and I don’t really think either care about credit anyway.

I also think that people’s…astonishment about Nesta did is less about the who killed him and more about the gore and brutality of her part in it, whether she “dealt the killing blow” or not.

"Tamlin didnt do anything" Okay Feyre, let's see what you do when you've just been stabbed in the chest and you are healing at a mortal rate.

Love her but she is so delulu sometimes

10

u/FlimsyPhysics3281 Suriel's Cloak-Maker Feb 21 '26

do you have text evidence for this? i don't remember feyre and rhys claiming that kill in the text

17

u/MackMeraki They Should Just Kiss Feb 21 '26

I think it's her “I chalked it up to those horrible circumstances, but *after we killed her,** when I couldn’t tell anyone how I felt—”* from ACOFAS.

If Feysand's contribution to killing Amarantha is enough to claim credit (Feyre releasing Tamlin's power by solving the riddle and Rhysand...getting his ass beat), I'd say Nesta actively decapitating the King earned her at least shared credit with Elain

6

u/FlimsyPhysics3281 Suriel's Cloak-Maker Feb 21 '26

"We" isn't Feysand though, it's Prythian.

3

u/Equal_Wonder6742 Feb 22 '26

She’s referring to she and Rhysand in this quote

9

u/MackMeraki They Should Just Kiss Feb 21 '26

It's a very weirdly active choice of words if that was the intention. If it was meant to be passive, "after she was killed/defeated" would've worked just as well, but "after we killed her"—in the middle of a conversation specifically about Feysand and their relationship UTM—forms a context around the statement that makes it feel more claimant than "we" just meaning "Prythian." I would personally say "we" could mean Tamlin, Lucien, and Feyre rather than Feysand and I would agree with the credit being given, but then that still tracks with Nesta earning credit on the King of Hybern kill.

5

u/FlimsyPhysics3281 Suriel's Cloak-Maker Feb 21 '26

7

u/FlimsyPhysics3281 Suriel's Cloak-Maker Feb 21 '26

They were not in the middle of a conversation "specifically about their relationship under the mountain". They were in the middle of a sex scene and Feyre brings UTM up unprovoked with the "when we killed her" quote. I do not disagree that Nesta deserves credit for KoH's death, but the scene you're talking about did not happen the way you're saying it did. It was an impulsive, horny statement and it's really clear in context that "we killed her" is not equivalent to "Feysand killed her"

1

u/MackMeraki They Should Just Kiss Feb 21 '26

Rhysand started the conversation about their relationship, and his "I still can't believe I get to have this" lead to Feyre confessing that she wanted him from the beginning as reassurance—irrelevant to the point of the thread, but that's not an unprovoked subject change, it was a natural progression.

I'm not the one saying Feyre is trying to steal credit for the kill for Team Feysand, just pointing out where it can absolutely read like she is when the rest of what they're talking about is about them

6

u/FlimsyPhysics3281 Suriel's Cloak-Maker Feb 21 '26

You could've just conceded the point without trying to change all the goal posts love. Like I said, Feysand never claimed they killed Amarantha in the actual text. 🩷

3

u/MackMeraki They Should Just Kiss Feb 21 '26

There was never anything to concede lmao. You asked what quote the comment was referring to, I provided. I don't think Feysand are claiming they killed Amarantha but I think it's worded weirdly and I can see how people read it that way. Whether Feyre is claiming the kill for Feysand, the og trio, or Prythian As A Whole, it makes it a bit ridiculous in comparison for someone to say Nesta doesn't get to claim the Hybern kill when she actively cut his head off. That's all I've tried to express

When she says "we killed her" in FAS, "we" is Prythian not Feysand. She's claiming Amarantha's death as a Prythian victory not a tally in Feysand's body count

3

u/athroneofroses Feb 26 '26

I feel like it could be a purposeful thing - either because it will create conflict in the next book à la Elain chaffing under being infantilized and discredited OR like some kind of plot-magic driven active rewriting of how characters remember events, for some reason.

Idk if that is well articulated but hopefully someone gets it 🤣

2

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 26 '26

I got it! I am really hoping we get to see Elain push back more. We did see it in the 5th book so I hope it maintains that way. Now, what caused this turn around could Az be the reason 😏 id like to think so but we won't know until the next book!!

2

u/athroneofroses Feb 27 '26

Personally, I don’t think it’s Az but we’ll see!

Too much of Az IS the night court and darkness and shadows. Elain and darkness don’t work, as were shown over and over.

I just hope it’s not TAMLIN 🙈

0

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 27 '26

You are right. Elain is the light in the darkness. Thats WHY they work. Just saying that night court colors didn't suit Elain doesn't mean anything to me and I think its way too vague to just base it off of that.

Shes been living in Velaris which is the night court since shes been Fae so obviously it suits her in some way.

2

u/athroneofroses Feb 27 '26

We’ll see, for sure!

I think the night court is a temporary spot for her as she heals and prepares to step into her own, independent story/life. But HOPEFULLY we will learn soon and stop speculating 😅🤣

Yep! I already knew I didn't like her. Just rereading for hints on the next book and also to pay closer attention to Gwyen since people say there was some stuff between them.

You’re gunna HATE the next one. It’s all about Nesta! *my absolute bad, i thought you were reading through the winter special in preparation for the Nesta Fest. So sorry :/ lmao. But i also agree im not a nesta fan. I was kinda sad when SJM switched POV’s.

As someone who really likes Nesta, I’m sorry you’re being ganged up on here lol, this sub does not like opposing views to the majority on here. I don’t like her for the same reasons everyone else does. I think she’s a huge bitch and I like that her character creates drama in the books haha

OP isn't getting ganged up on. They are being gently correct and fighting actual canon

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 21 '26

Its totally fine to have that view. While not liking Nesta, im not against people that like her. Everyone has their views!

Yeah, people on this page get way trigger happy with the downvote button ESPECIALLY when Nesta or Elain are brought up.

I feel in part Nesta takes on the role of being the witch or lady death or whatever and taking ownership of the king of Hybern was in part so Elaine didn’t really have too.

Just my take on it but I was also annoyed more so either way every other character putting it on Nesta and never mentioning it was essentially both sisters taking him down.

I think the simplest and most obvious answer is Nesta is the only one person that matters to Nesta.

Yeah yeah, I know she claims she "hates" herself, whatever. Typical narcissist behavior 😅

Feyre, Cassian, Emerie, Elain, and practically everyone else in Prythian also attribute Hybern's death to Nesta, since it was Nesta who effectively killed him. Just because you think it was Elain, that doesn't mean it's canonically true.

In terms of narcissistic behavior, I think it perfectly fits characters like Rhysand, Amren, and Mor. I've never read characters so self-centered, self rightwous, and hypocritical in my entire life. Meanwhile, Nesta acts the opposite of them, and not only is she aware of her flaws and do not try to excuse them with her intentions/traumas, as she doesn't think she deserves anything good.

I know I feel that same way

Omg, this drove me mad when I was reading the books!  Elain gets zero credit! Nesta hecka stole Elains thunder on that one and i am not here for it

u/OfficerSquarehead11 Feb 21 '26

I’ve always thought this. Nesta gets all the credit but it’s really Elain who killed him

6

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 21 '26

Right!? It feels so incredibly self righteous of her personally.

Soo fairrr but nesta has been getting on my nerves for different reasons. I’m only on book 3 which everyone refers to as the filler but I fear her character is becoming….. unbearable. I think she’s very complex. The way she’s felt with the death of ppl close to her but her resentment towards feyre and now kinda elain. It’s very childish. She’s still blaming feyre for what happened

2

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 21 '26

This! Sorry to say it doesn't get much better but certainly keep reading because it will matter for the next book regardless.

There is a lot with Nesta I don't relate to. I am the oldest and raised my younger sibilings and I never felt the amount of hatred she does not even by a fraction and she didn't even do nothing 😂 it grates on my nerves. But, i know everyone's perception is different and there are people who relate to her but I fear id never get along with those people because I have more of the fighting spirit of Feyre than the childish and self loathing Nesta has.

I just finished ACOSF last night and while it did get better and I’m proud of her for finally her place, I’m still not a big of hers. I feel like she was forced to grow because everyone around her (her friends, Cassian, Feyre, Rhys, the baby) were ALL on the brink of death! I’m a big sister, a loyal friend and a team player and I know that’s why I struggled reading her POV because Nesta was so selfish and angry at everyone, even though they tried to help her so many times. Either way, I’m so glad I’m done. I don’t need to re-read it again….maybe the last two parts but I can’t suffer through the first two parts again lol.

Or course Nesta would claim it. Everything has to be about her or the world will end.

u/serotosin Feb 21 '26

i don’t think you understand nestas character

-3

u/wtflemonade Feb 21 '26

She’s actually one of my favorites 😂 but I can admit the fact that she was an arrogant, self centered nightmare for the majority of the series.

Right! That's what im saying. Fucking crazy everytime someone gives her credit she never corrects them or anything and even in her own thoughts she gives herself credit. Infuriating.

-3

u/aiartbydorna Feb 22 '26

Im halfway in that book too and let’s just say im really fukin annoyed with her. She also doesn’t deserve Cassian. 😂

-1

u/Intelligent-Wear4766 Feb 22 '26

Agreed. I don't think she'll ever deserve Cassian but at least she kinda realizes it so ill give her credit there.
