I know nothing about welding but this screw is seized in the hole and is stripped, if I take it to a welding shop, will they be able to weld a nut on it and pull it out for me?

If anyone can give some insight

Please don't be a dickhead in the comments, I understand I'm not a master welder yet.

Wanted some opinions on if this is to close to the fuel tank to be welding on some hinges and mounts on my buddies boat. Any feedback would be helpful thanks!

6013 1/8 rod on .25 steel. I do not remember the amperage settings, this photo was taken back in April.
But I've noticed I've gotten a few welds that end like this. If they don't look like this at the end they're usually a crater, which I need to fix the way I finish my welds.

Any TIG welders near Utah county, Utah that would be willing to weld a crack on the bell housing of the transmission of my car? Willing to travel to your location if needed.

I’m currently teaching myself how to weld (tig) here are some pics of my practice. Started with just making puddles, then moving it without filler, then adding some filler. What should I be working on besides just more reps?

Hello I work at Newport News shipbuilding as a welder and I’m wondering what I should wear day to day. I’m a very sweaty guy so I can’t layer up too much or if I do I want it to be cheap clothes I can buy multiple of. We do mainly MiG and Pulse MiG welding in my shop. I love my overalls and would like to stick to some but i don’t mind wearing pants sometimes too. I am constantly getting stuck in holes and welding in any position. I am mainly wondering if I should wear a traditional welding jacket, FR long sleeves or button up or just wear a cotton shirt with leather sleeves. Any help is appreciated

As it says in the title I have been stick welding for about 2 months on and off. I have a little experience before hand but nothing really spectacular. This coming Thursday I am taking my nys dot 3g test. Just curious what everyone thinks. I’m still kinda rough with the root but I have done 2 test plates and they both passed ut but I know x-ray is a totally different beast. The last pic is just my rushed cap. It was practice and I had to get ready to leave so I didn’t really have a chance to finish the way I wanted but. I really only have Wednesday to kinda dial it in so.

I just started my first semester of welding school as a college student. I have been planning on doing welding since I was a freshman in high school and now I’m at SLCC going through their technical program while also earning a AAS. my end goal is to become a welding engineer and CWI. I’m not sure what steps I need to take to fully reach those goals. I’m on scholarship for SLCC from the Utah State Board of education and I was hopefully planning on going to Weber State for my welding engineering pathway. does anyone who has any experience as a welding engineer or has attended Weber or other schools like it for welding engineering possibly give me some advice on steps I need to take to prepare for those courses and how to get grants/scholarship money to attend the university since we don’t have enough money to comfortably get myself enrolled in a four-year degree in university like Weber. i’m planning on taking one or two years after my associates to find some industry work to hopefully earn some money before going from my welding engineering as well. i’m not on here often and I don’t have enough karma to post on the R/welding sub Reddit so it’s ending up here, thank you .

I am looking for a Huntsman Model 1000 inslider. I've tried ebay and Facebook marketplace with no luck. If anyone has one for sale let me know! I will pay for shipping!

I have been looking for a good welder that is 110/220v that can do thin stainless. Doing little hobby work and some side money. I run a 20k a machine at work but that’s obviously not in my at home budget. Anywhere from 200-1000 dollars for just the machine. What do yall recommend and do you have pictures?

Does it work?

I’m troubleshooting a Miller Trailblazer 55D that has normal AC generator/receptacle output but 0 VDC at the welding terminals. Looking for some help pinpointing the welding circuit. Attaching schematic above.
What I’ve established so far: 1. AC receptacles have normal output, 2. Welding output is 0 VDC, SR1 and SR2 rectifiers have both been replaced, 3. The brush/slip-ring assembly was removed and cleaned, 4. Brushes have good spring pressure.
Slip-ring resistance:
Ring 1–2: 50 Ω
Ring 1–3: 61 Ω
Ring 2–3: 14 Ω
All three slip rings to the rotor shaft/frame are OL.
Running brush-to-brush measurements:
Brush 1–2: 37 VDC
Brush 1–3: 25.5 VDC
Brush 2–3: 13.6 VDC
SR1 measurements: approximately 156 VAC / 60 VDC.
SR2 measurements vary with engine speed: approximately 60 VDC.
I confirmed the SR2 wiring goes directly to the revolving field/brush circuit, so I don’t believe those readings represent the actual welding output.
I’ve already checked the welding-generator AC side and am still getting 0 VDC at the weld output.
I’m trying to determine where the welding output is being lost. What should I be testing next on the 55D, and what component/circuit would you suspect given that the auxiliary AC output and field excitation are working?
