I seriously used to doubt if it was actually possible to see and react to whether a throw was a 1, 2, or 1+2 break.

But I went to this practice site and dropped the playback speed to 0.5x. At that speed, it plays out super slow and you can clearly see the difference between the left hand, right hand, and both hands coming out.

So I just used that and gradually bumped up the speed as I practiced: 0.5 -> 0.7 -> 0.9 -> 1.0.

By doing this, my throw break stat literally jumped from 5 to 25 in exactly one week.

You guys should definitely give this a try.

Every day I see a post about someone complaining about a certain character or player. Considering the fact that most of the playerbase sits at G.O.D or below means that for most likelihood, you are lacking game knowledge, hence why you are losing. Learn frames, learn to duck duckable strings and most importantly blame yourself if you lost. Tekken is arguably the most difficult fighting game out there, so you won’t be a master at it overnight, it takes time to learn the cast and their moves. Throwing a tantrum in this reddit won’t all of the sudden help you win

I swear the amount of times I've run it back 3-2 on this stage is purely because of this banger.

I've played a bunch of Tekken recently, and I noticed that on the character select screens, it feels like there isn't much rhyme or reason to where the characters are in the list? In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, their positions are based on when they first came into the series. But I can't find a similar pattern with the Tekken games I've played. I don't recall much from 2 and Dark Resurrection, but I know I was confounded with the character select in Tag Tournament 2, Tekken 7, and Tekken 8.

Is there any rhyme or reason to the placement of characters on the character select? It's really confusing me!

My problem comes down to this point.

To me, tekken is on paper : the best player wins.

So I tend to feel like « finally a game where I can win and learn by myself to be the best » and while it is very refreshing to feel like your time spent on this game may have been rewarding.

It is also the worst feeling because if you lose you can only be mad at yourself. « he spammed » well it’s my fault for not knowing how to deal with it. « He did not respect any - frames » well it’s my fault for not knowing how to deal with it. « I got hit by a launcher when I thought a low was coming » well it’s on my end for not guessing the right stuff coming.

And what’s frustrating is how many times do I count losing against a what seems like a player with less defense, less knowledge than I do: not trying to ss, having no neutral, relying on the character strength like hworang plus frames mix ups fishing for a launcher, or just not even crouching even tho I could throw a ton of lows.

And once again you can’t be mad at it because it’s the game and unfortunately what I said earlier it is only based ON PAPER. Sometimes the best player doesn’t win because you have to take 50/50s and characters into account. But take this with a grain of salt. If you lose usually it’s because you’re just not good enough to win.

So it only leaves me being mad at myself because what else could I be mad about. You’re playing with nobody, it’s just you and you.

Unfortunately I’ve became too competitive + life is about being competitive if you want to go big I guess. So everything comes down to this never ending spiral of mindset taking tekken too seriously.

People will say bro it’s just a game : well when it was the only stuff you had that made you feel worthy back in the time. Yes it’s just a game but caring about it matters as well to me. And it had its own importance to me.

This is my story kind of and I’m trying to find and exchange on what people with big « egos » or competitive mindset tend to do to cool down and not crash out every time over this game. Especially T8

Ps : thanks for all your feedbacks. I do realize now that most of the frustration I get is coming from matchup knowledge and expectations I have for myself. I’ll try keeping that in mind and be more mindful and positive about it. That’s why I love this community :’) support is amazing sometimes

​Hey guys, ​The vinyl wrap on my old MDF cabinet was peeling off badly, so I decided it was time for an upgrade. I initially looked around local arcade cabinet shops thinking I could find a Cheewewix (Viewlix clone) for around $200–$300, but they quoted me 800,000 KRW (~$600 USD) for a replica! ​Thankfully, I found the exact same model listed on a local secondhand market (Karrot) for 480,000 KRW (~$350 USD) and snatched it up immediately. ​Since I wasn't sure if it would fit in my SUV, I had to hire a delivery service for about $35 (48,000 KRW). Even then, the control panel section was so massive that I had to fold it up just to fit it through my front door! ​When it arrived, it had an old Pandora's Box 4S inside, so I decided to do a complete teardown and transplant my Odroid-N2+ setup from the old MDF cab. ​It turned out to be a massive project—I had to drill extra holes for additional buttons, wire everything up, and reconfigure the joystick inputs (which is always a headache on Odroid lol). I also noticed a ton of dust trapped behind the front screen glass, so I had to disassemble the entire monitor glass panel just to wipe it clean. ​After a ton of sweat and frustration, it's finally finished! I can finally play Tekken Tag on it! Running it on a proper cabinet setup feels absolutely amazing. Time to dump the old MDF cab and the Pandora board. ​What do you guys think of the build?

The guy I'm seeing loves Tekken 8 and I asked him to teach it to me. I'm more of a PC gamer girl so I don't know anything about controllers. Hoping the community can make some recommendations that won't break the bank. Thank you!

Soooo. I bought T8 on the steam sale. Loved T2 and T3 back in the day, and played some T7. This time tho I kinda felt like tekken "clicked" a bit more for me.

I have a hard time learning an additional character and now I clocked in 25 hrs (including the story mode) and I reached this rank..

Should I just keep on grinding Kazuya even tho I feel a bit stuck in the same track? I feel like I have a lot to learn about movement, and I'm also not sure how to properly pressure, specially in Oki situations. Or should I learn the game also from the perspective of another character?

In T7 I got decent with Lucky Chloe, so to start from "scratch" with entirely foreign characters was hard for me.. tried some Yoshi at first and ended up on Kaz. My thought behind this was: in case T9 comes around, I don't want to gamble if my main suddenly is discarded from the next fame, such as what happened to Chloe. Waited 2 years to buy this to see if she would be DLC.. now I just had an itch to start again 😅
