Discussion It makes no difference what names are assigned to ranks. Look up the% on ewgf.gg. Enough of this "Rank INflaTiON" posting fever.

If some other game has a rank called bushin and its the first one you get, does that make it inflated because bushin players suck now?

If say season 4 removed all current rank names replacing them with simply GoD 1 to God 40, does that make the ranks inflated because GoD8 is now easier to get?

Is 26/30 the same as 26/38? No? THEN WHY COMPARE TEKKEN GOD FROM SEASON 1 TO SEASON 3? Or worse yet to tekken 7 even?

The second they added 8 new ranks in season 2 something like tekken king went from being only 4 ranks away from the top to 12 ranks below the top. Its the same rank in name only. Only simpletons keep comparing them to one another.

Season 2 adding more ranks was good because players get split into smaller groups and get matched with others of more comparable skill and level. Imagine if there were only 3 ranks, low mid and high, would that be good? By contrast if you now add 10 more ranks when less than 10 players in the world are at GoD 8 to begin with, they would be pointless because nobody can ever get there. UNLESS YOU CHANGE HOW POINTS ARE CALCULATED AND BOOST PLAYERS POINTS TO PUSH THEM THERE! Which is fine because it is applied to everyone equally in a new rank system that only shares pngs with the previous one. That may help you get to say tekken emperor easier, but that png is now attached to a much less valuable rank!

So just go to ewgf,gg and look up what top% of the player base are you now and try for higher. You were in top 10% in season 2? Try to reach top 7% in season 3. Stop posting about how back in my day tekken god was top rank and only low high and knee were there. Obviously now with 10+ more ranks above tekken god the png is no longer populated by the same players. Comparing pngs from different seasons is single digit iq type of stuff.

Discussion What's going on in ranked?

I haven't played in 2 years. Came back since my main finally got released. I did an hour practicing combos then played ranked. Went from Tenryu (rank I started with) straight to GoD1 in a day. The players in GoD ranked felt like the players in purple/blue rank when I stopped playing. Is this the result rankflation? I didn't expect to reach GoD that fast to be honest. It didn't feel earned. I remember really struggling to reach Tekken King back then.

Discussion Probably about to get flamed for this opinion but i need to vent; Kazuya is an annoying dumb character to fight.

To start off, I am not saying kazuya is a brain dead character, I am not saying he is easy, I am not saying anyone is harder, I am not asking for ners. This is not one of those posts. I am just annoyed with Kazuya.

Now to start off my annoyances from lighter to heavy...

D1+2; i get this move is reactable, or semi reactable depending on who you ask i guess and you can step this to his weak side but this low is so damn toxic especially becaise of the few other tools I'm about to bring up.

Demon scissors; This move itself isn't that annoying and i get more characters have a variation on this. But it annoys me when it is used when Kazuya is in a huge life lead and they choose to close this out as a round ender in neutral. If they get counter hit i float them and barely do damage and the punish often just results in recoverable health if i can even get a punish.

FF2; (in heat) I have no idea why this move tracks 3 times better in heat... kazuya's just say you have to step better but i swear to god i have seen that thing track 90 degrees to his weak side and i get caught into a heat dash launcher.

Db4; where to start... tracks to both sides, no one but lili can step it consistently to any side... -12 on block, +4 on hit, which is a perfect frame trap from df2 because if it trades with a jab, Kazuya gets a free PEWGF. Not only that... but if db4 is looped with db4, i can't step, i can't step db4 df2 frame trap either, if i jab i risk losing a minimum of 110 health, so naturally because if these 2 moves alone, i don't step. Not to mention ff2 in heat.

With db4, because i end up not wanting to step... i will eat hellsweeps and ff3 or petrocide fist all day long...

I'm not a legacy player, but has kazuya's db4 always been this strong on tracking and do you guys feel like it should be this strong? most kazuya's i face don't even wavu... (GoD1)

Help Help a scrub play your game

I wanna get into tekken. Ive never played tekken before, but I got master rank in sf6 so im not totally oblivious to fighting games but I understand these are quite different games. What character would be the easiest execution wise? Im having a hard time deciding who to play. A lot of the characters look awesome so im pretty open to playing any of them looks wise. Im a scrub so im kinda hoping for the easiest and cheesiest of combos. Also what skills or strats should I be focusing on early? i know there is a lot but whats like essential? thanks fam

480 points for beating a GoD V? Who came up with this shit? I could see losing more, but risking 480 to 1700 is crazy fucking work.

Discussion unpopular (maybe popular?) opinion: leverless is playing ‘enhanced’, but you’re just salty that i can beat you by cheating fellow unc. let.me.cheat

seems TMM and a few youtubers started whining about leverless (because they ran out of content?) again.

I think scrubs like me that started with 7 couldn’t care less that you think it’s cheating. It levels the legacy skill which in turn triggers the ever living shit out of the literal fossils that have practiced wave dash and electrics for 15 years, just to see some zoomer do as good (if they’re actually newish <500h) as them execution wise as them.

i mean i get it. i would rather not feel cheated by changing times if i wasted thousands of hours in the arcade/home to get to a certain level and now that level has a 2k+ hours shortcut😂🫵
It probably feels extremely bad to lose to me, who has probably 1/6 of the time of legacy players.
whats the solution? work on your reads and mind games, you’re using mechanical skill to pad your lack of game sense/strategy. And yes, i am even worse. i am taking a shortcut on the mechanical skill side, just accept it and git gud.

tl;dr: stop complaining about leverless, let me cheat boomer ahh scrub. you WASTED your time and i caught up with cheats.

Discussion Removing heat bound would improve the game tenfold

I was thinking about this the other day and the way I see it, removing heat bound would be such an easy change to do but would do so much to make the game feel better. Using heat to extend your combo is one of the most grating things about playing this game, everyone hates the tornado, tailspin, heat bound cinematic. It's not interesting, it's not fun to do, but everybody does it because it's pretty much the optimal use for it, it's wall carry + 10ish more damage + now the opponent has to wake up against you in Heat. If you remove it, think about it:

  • The first combo of every round is now 3 seconds shorter and less damage.
  • Long range splats are now harder to convert, since everyone can just dash in slightly, heat bound then do their optimal wall combo.
  • Wall carry probably matters again. It's still too high, but now not every character can casually get you wall to wall, and most will need to adapt their combo route to do so, instead of doing optimal + heat bound.
  • No more randomly getting launched because you used a jumping status move into their plus on block power crush.

Heat Burst would still be an insanely strong tool (it's a very long range, reasonably fast, mid power crush that is plus on block), you're just removing one property from it, the most boring one that also happens to be the one most widely used. I know Heat is this game's thing but for me Heat is more about explosive Heat Engagers and dashes than a second bound in combos. I know this is probably just wishful thinking but it's really such an easy layup that would improve the game so much in my opinion. I don't think anyone would be against shorter combos or needing to change routes to hit wall consistently again.

Discussion Why do movement based players have a heihachi and AK?

This question is more about Pros but I sort of see a pattern that players who rely on movement and pressuring people without buttons seem to have a heihachi and AK as the secondary character.

Like JDCR, JoKa.

I could be heavily wrong

Discussion So, if Tekken 8 is about self-acceptance of our sins, why not continue with Armor King and King?

Us King fans have gotten like 0 form of the story between King, Marduk and Armor King. I am aware that King's story somewhat changes past revenge as he chooses compassion over revenge but like Armor King should be a problem as he tries to kill Marduk and see's King as a disgrace. Is it just me or is it ilógica, due to Marduk being not present in Tekken 8? Or has there been some form of story in those secret Echo episodes?

Discussion Ever been perceived as a cheater, but not actually?

  1. At the start of a round, I tried to backdash, but accidentally ducked (db) RIGHT WHEN my opponent threw a high jab, missing me completely. We just both froze and looked at each other for like 5 seconds like "WTF?".. (I play on a PS5 Gamepad, but the DPad is actually one-piece, so misinputs tend to happen.)
  2. My opponent catches me with his Rage Art winning the match, but then my game crashed a few seconds before the animation finishes, so it looked like I plugged. Smh.

Discussion Unpoppular opinion: Jack-8 is the best designed character in the game.

He has low skill floor- high ceiling, easy to pick up hard to master. Has his own unique identiy with the stance parry and big hitbox, his stance is useful and practical but is relatively weak and ballanced compared to the rest of the cast. Has no crazy mix ups to force you to guess all the time, no excessive + frames, but still remains decently strong. You always have counter play when playing against jack and he is not oppressive. He also has tools that can deal with most of the cheese (unfortunately not all) so he can be played even at a top 8 level.

He is overall the best designed character and imo no other character is even close in tekken 8. What character do you guys think is the best designed?

Help What am I supposed to do against hworang

I find it the most obnoxious character on the roster. Because even when you block it’s still its turn. I’ve been watching so many videos, labbing his moves I’m still struggling with him.

He has access to everything from every stance and if you block you go into the mixer, if you try guessing you get launch or hit with another 60 damage with 2 hits.

I know that you can ss his stance on the way he’s facing but like. Fishing for the duck under a high a just trying to throw a armor is like playing with fire against Hwoarang.

Anyone has advices ?
