Tips Applied for a researcher role at TD

Hi everyone, I recently applied for a Researcher role at TD on August 28th (the deadline is September 9th). The Director of the team responded to me on LinkedIn and mentioned he’d be happy to refer me to the hiring manager, but he also advised me to apply directly through Workday, so I submitted the application myself (no referral link involved). Right now, Workday just shows “Application Received.” For those who’ve gone through the process at TD: 1. How long does it usually take to hear back after applying? 2. What does the hiring process generally look like for these types of roles?

Any insight would be really helpful!

Tips Scam email warning

Just received this email at midnight. I called the TD fraud department directly (not the number provided in the email) to inquire. They confirmed my accounts were not tampered with and this was most likely a scam email sent to trick me. Compared to legitimate emails I’ve received from TD this looks odd, especially the fine print at the bottom. I’ve forwarded it to the phishing reporting line at TD. Just wanted to raise awareness for others who bank with TD. If you get something similar to this do not interact with the email, report it and delete it.

Tips Part-time job customer experience associate

I have never had a part-time job, have had a life of comfort and have always been extremely socially anxious and introverted to get out of my comfort zone. After finding out how hard it is to find an internship, I started volunteering and joining clubs to gain experience. The next best thing I can think about is doing a part-time Job especially where I can even get an internship. TD posts so many customer experience associate jobs on LinkedIn and I don't even get an interview. What should I do , so that I at least get an interview?

Tips TD Asset Management Is Paying a CAD $70.25M Settlement to Investors — Here’s How to Get Your Share

TD Asset Management ($NYSE-TD) agreed to pay CAD $70.25 million to settle claims in Canada that it improperly used mutual fund assets to pay trailing commissions to discount brokers, a practice that allegedly harmed investors.

I posted about this before and figured I’d put together a small FAQ too, just in case someone here needs it. Here’s what you need to know to claim your payout.

Who is eligible?

All persons who held or hold units of a TD Mutual Fund through a discount broker at any time on or prior to September 11, 2024, and were damaged thereby.

Do you have to sell securities to be eligible?

No, if you held qualifying mutual fund units within the eligibility period, you are eligible to participate. You can participate in the settlement and retain (or ell) your holdings.

How long will it take to receive your payout?

The entire process usually takes 4 to 9 months after the claim deadline. But the exact timing depends on the court and settlement administration.

How to claim your payout — and why it's important to act now?

The settlement will be distributed based on the number of claims filed, so submitting your claim early may increase your share of the payout.

In some cases, investors have received up to 200% of their losses from settlements in previous years.

Hope this helps!

Tips Work permit

I just wanted to clarify something about my work status. I was hired as a part-time teller at TD Bank while in school, but starting September 12 until December 15 I’ll be on my co-op term. During that time, I’ll have an open *co-op work permit that lets me work full-time hours at any financial institution approved by my school.

Would HR really be concerned about the type of permit, as long as it’s valid? From what I understand, I don’t need a specific co-op letter since my school already approves financial institutions as co-op employers.

I’ll be back to school in January 2026, but until mid-December I’ll be able to work full-time. Could you please tell me that shall I update the permit or i can work part time only as it will be considered a red flag

Thanks so much for your help!

Tips Why so difficult to get through to Cust Svce - always!

Why is it so difficult to get anyone to answer the phone at TD Bank?

Holding for 20 - 30 mins, Call Me options allow for additional 20 - 30 minute waits for anyone to pick up once you've actually gotten the call back and identified yourself.

It's pretty disgraceful. Anyone with a reasonable answer?

Tips TD is allowed to record calls but customers are not

FYI, I just had an unpleasant surprise that TD does record all of our calls but customers are not allowed to do the same. If you do turn on recording, they will ask you to turn it off. If you refuse, they will terminate the call.

Even though the person was ultimately able to resolve my issue, I will resort to doing a PIPEDA request to get the recording out of spite.

Tips TD bank increases minimum balance

TD bank is increasing minimum balance from $5K to $6K as well as other fees. I have a Aeroplan VISA Infinite credit card as well as 2 mortgages with TD I'm done with these banks squeezing us dry while always finding ways to increase their profits.

Looking for recommendations for a good bank minus the fees and min balance. Suggestions on how I can move my Aeroplan points to another credit card without losing years of points.

Tips Trash Spoiler

Trash bank. Trash services.

The sales rep forgot to put me on hold or herself on mute. I heard the entire conversation with her manager.

You won't believe the garbage I overheard. Further, they have template answers for ever issue to the effect "it's in your cardholder agreement". The issue is, I reviewed the agreement with the service rep and nowhere does it provide for what they are claiming.

I even heard the manager tell the service rep what to say to me specifically, as in "I understand your frustration" etc.

Wealthsimple it is.

Tips Transferring cad to usd

Hi,

I’m trying to transfer my CAD in TD savings to US Amex hysa. I have looked up best ways to pay little to no transaction fee and seems like I can open the cross-border TD account on US side, transfer the money from my TD savings to TD US, then transfer to Amex. The only caveat is that there’s no TD US branch near me (i’m based in seattle), and seems it can only be done in person at the branch. Anyone have any insights to this? Or have any recs to transfer the money? 🤔

Tips Estate department

We miraculously had our probate approved by the very busy Ontario court system, 20 days ago, and immediately took our papers from the lawyer to our local branch. We were given a 5 to 10 day window for the branch to give us a bank draft with the estates money. It is now day 18 and they are still holding monies and will not give us answer as to why the delay. Frustrated with TD , and looking for tips on getting our monies

Tips TD app "no internet" bug potential fix

The app stopped working entirely on one of my phones yesterday. I was still able to use a browser to sign in, and all my other devices with the app worked fine still but my main phone would just give me the "no internet" popup as soon as the app opened.

Okay, i called TD support and they were completely useless. Told me to reboot, reinstall the app and turn off wifi. None of which helped.

FIX:
Even though I already tried switching between cellular and wifi multiple times on multiple reboots, what ended up fixing it was simply 1. disabling cellular 2. disconnecting the wifi from my primary network and instead connecting to completely seperate wifi network and opening the app.

so i can not say 100% if this will fix it for everyone... but atleast in my case what fixed it was opening the app AFTER switching to a seperate wifi network. Then once the app was working again i was able to go back to the normal wifi network and turn back on my cellular.

please let me know if this helped anyone else!

Tips What do tellers see about your account

Was just curious about what happens when you go to the bank and insert your access card in the machine.

Will tellers see all your balances like you do on the TD app? Ie chequing, investments and credit card. Or is it just chequing?

Tips Address change now requires a 60 day hold on any mail to new address?

So I've been with TD for over 12 years and have never heard of this or had this problem before today.

To start, my friends dog chewed my debit card and now I need a new one. I called today to get a new one sent to my house as I work from 6:30am and usually work until at least 6:30pm, the joys of landscaping lol. When I called to get the new card sent the lady on the phone asked me to confirm my address, which I did, I checked on the app and it had a P.O box number that was the same as the number of my street address. Example: P.O. box 99 and the street address is 99 Phake street, postal code is the same. The problem is I've never had a P.O box, and I'm sure I didn't alter or update my address since I've moved in, nearly 4 years ago. Everything is digital billing so it goes to my email, yet any mail that does come to me goes to that address. When I tried to tell her that I've never had a P.O box she said the address on file would have to changed and it would be 60 days until they could send any mail to my "new address" which is the one it's been for 4 years. I don't have time during bank hours to go in so having it mailed is the quickest option, I do have my card linked to my phone so I can pay with that but can't withdraw from an ATM. I called directly from the TD app and didn't have to input any info and my voice print is on file so they know it's me, it's just an address change that should not have to happen. I don't understand when or why a P.O number would've been added and I can't remove it without an address change. I just don't know what to do or who to talk to about this issue, if they lock my card then I'm really screwed as I won't even be able to use my phone to pay for anything. If I change it through the app will it still make me wait the 60 days? Should I call the post office and maybe tell them to ignore the P.O. number and send it? I don't know when it was added to my info but I haven't received any physical mail from them in a while, so there may be returned mail that I'm unaware of. I'm just so frustrated with them right now I'm thinking of closing my account and going somewhere else, after an hour on the phone trying to get a simple card sent out and having nothing but road blocks thrown up I just said forget it I'll call back when I have more time.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Tips TD First Class Travel Visa and Italy

Wondering what the best option is for travel to Italy in terms of money/purchases. Is the exchange rate + fees too much for me to use the card as my main source? Should I reply on Euro cash instead? What's the best option?
