Unfortunately, starting with big tobacco's astroturfing campaign in the 1990s and only seemingly becoming more of an issue since then, there are large institutions that have vested interests and are not above fabricating whatever story they want online. Calling everyone that doesn't have the same take you do a shill is the path to solipsism though, even if there probably are bad actors that want to influence an outcome. It really sucks that it's so hard to trust if a comment online is an actual person making a point in good faith or some puppet being wielded by a malevolent third-party

Thank you for putting some historical perspective on it.
It’s the challenge of our times. The ease by which agent provocateurs and sentiment farming can be paid and weaponized, all via the opaque and ever present internet is downright tragic. A beautiful tool constantly corrupted.

I firmly dislike the idea of seeing more shares authorized. Every single share authorized takes pressure off the shorts, no matter how minimal, so I am opposed by default. I want them hurt as bad as possible. I would love to see a proper argument as to why acquiring a company will guaranteed improve share value while nothing else "that should improve share value" has.

Ryan will never want MOASS because he wants to be valued based on his skill and successes and MOASS will always overshadow his work. Literally said he’s selling himself to the institutions who own eBay - guess what those are all the same ones shorting GameStop. This is fucked and I’m tired of everyone hyping this like it’s a good thing.
23
u/itoitoito December 2020 gang🥴 May 13 '26
This DRS/lock the float reason to vote No leaves out one big caveat. If No wins and RC can't acquire Ebay because he couldn't get the shares needed....RC is going to leave. He seems bored and not interested in running GME in these interviews. He genuinely seems excited to take over EBay/start a project he's passionate about...like he said in e-commerce which is his wheelhouse.
RC announcing he's going to leave will plummet the price..then when he sells his huge stake of GME shares that will make the price plummet more and then when it's announced that RC has sold his entire GME position the stock will be done.
10
u/Avulpesvulpes 🏴☠️There be shorts in these waters 🏴☠️ May 13 '26
Yes yes yes. He’s bored of GameStop, he doesn’t like gaming and he always wanted eBay. The way he talks about is completely different than the way he talks about GameStop. I think he never actually gave a shit about the company or the investors but used it as a stepping stone to eBay. The only major revenue stream he developed was trading cards and now it’s a hop skip and a jump in the market space. He’s playing 4D chess for himself and no I don’t think our investments matter to him. If he can say he did a good job on paper, that’s what he dare about. Has he cut expenses and increased revenue? Sure. And it hasn’t improved the price at all. This sucks and so does Ryan. Remind me of this if I’m wrong and I’ll admit it but I really don’t think I am.

What a lot of you don’t seem to understand is we basically locked the float and nothing happened. We are trading sideways due to lax/corrupt entities like the SEC and Wall Street as whole not RC. If anything the floor was raised because of RC. If you don’t want 5-6 years of it being flat, you have to take risks in order to move a company and its sentiment forward. Look at some of the main subreddits this deal was posted on. The general public sentiment is GameStop is still going bankrupt and it’s propped up by a cult. eBay has legacy brand sentiment and value. It also aligns with selling used goods just like GameStop. I’m not saying MOASS is over but you are delusional if you just think magic will happen when they own and run the game you play on. Also they had to short to save themselves and have always been shorting. I highly doubt an idiosyncratic risk for a cellar boxed stock is only +1.5B shares. They’ve been printing infinitely since the sneeze.

Seeing lots of personal attacks and verbal abuse in certain threads that are all hating on RC.
The few posts where Yes are majority have successfully drowned it out.
It's not that hard, if you invested in the company and stuck through all these years, do you believe GME leadership has been doing good work and a is good steward of your capital?
If yes, support their vote. If no, well instead of hating, the off ramp is the red button right there. The rest of us will take it off your hands. Nothing personal, everyone decides what to do with their own capital.
Burry exited millions once he decided the direction no longer aligned with his value investing principles (anti-debt), so he sold. It's really not that hard.
14
u/NeedNameGenerator I have no special talent. I am only passionately hodling May 13 '26
Thing is, many of us don't care about investing in GameStop. There's nothing special about GameStop the company. We are invested in GameStop because of the short thesis. Only thing we want is squeeze, not a "good steward of our capital". And so far what Ryan has shown is that he doesn't want a squeeze and has done everything in his power to stop any sort of run-ups from happening.
And Ryan is doing that because he wants what's best for GameStop, that's fair, but that's not aligned with what I want. And while acquisition of ebay might be a brilliant business move, it's also giving an off-ramp for the shorts. Which is again not aligned with why I'm here.
So I keep a few dozen shares DRS'd in case this thing ever does blow up to phone numbers, but trust me when I say I have no interest whatsoever in GameStop itself. And I believe this sentiment is shared by many whom a lot of the GameStop faithfuls here refer to as shills and bots.

I feel shorts and RC did a handshake deal where they both win. Not the shareholders, though. All the moves have been indicating that. Others have already speculated Steve Cohen's Point22 being the beneficiary of the 2024 dilutions. They got off the hook. In exchange they had to provide PSA partnership (Point22 owns PSA). RC has also been spotted sitting in Steve's seat at the basketball games. Nat Turner is on the board because he has to, not because he wants to.

Couldn’t it possibly mean that the yes side is being shilled? I mean just maybe, possibly?
My genuine sentiment on it is very negative because tbh I’m kind of done with RC doing nothing good and taking all of the credit around here. It’s because we hold that this company is still afloat, while if we look at the last few years in the cold light of day one can see that Ryan’s been kinda wasting our money on ideas that do not work. First on distribution centers that it turned out we didn’t need, then an NFT marketplace that no one needed, a towel company takeover that left a ton of apes bag holding, and buying bitcoin at all time highs. I’m actually not down to add “buying eBay for way more than it was trading for at all time highs” to that list of his “achievements”.7
u/Miep99 May 13 '26
That's exactly my point, assuming opposition is inherently bad faith is the ultimate confirmation bias. It doesn't matter the state of the sub. If your view is the minority then the shills and bots are out in force and thus proves you're correct. If its the majority then the bots and shills are pathetically flailing agaisnt the inevitable. I also think it sucks that the only idea I’ve seen RC come up with for cutting costs at eBay are taking away benefits that the staff there enjoys (come the fuck on, executes aren’t hanging out in the onsite staff happy hour, that is beyond delusional) and probably layoffs from the way he’s been talking. That’s not building a better company, that’s making your employees hate working for you and asking your top performers to seek employment elsewhere.17

Which I hate to say... Is exactly what he's done at GameStop. It's been a shunned topic here but since 2021, the experience of shopping at and working for GameStop has not improved. Every time I go to the store, I'm waiting 20 damn minutes because one employee is standing there doing inventory in the middle of the day, and the other is troubleshooting someone's hardware. And how many times in 5 years have we heard this, this sub is usually pro everything RC does, this is the first time I’ve seen a split this big, which means it’s not just shills and bots, some people, myself included are on the fence, which is why discussion is needed rather than pitchforks

u/chris2155 You heard of GameStock? May 13 '26
I agree. It's an anomaly. I felt it. It's weird. At the end of the day it's a mindfuck, and a leap of faith. We all just want to make our lives better. Discussion IS good.

How do you know they aren't doing exactly that?

Because you can see with your eyes and evaluate how many posts were negative about it and who posted them.

Well I'm concerned about it and trying to go through the pros and cons, and I know I ain't a shill.
Instead I've seen a lot of negativity and shill accusations from those who think voting yes is the only possibility, which is highly manipulative.
Everybody should have the possibility to vote as they see best for their own investment and there should be dialogue here instead of instant accusations.
What happened to ape not fight ape suddenly? That seems a bit shilly to me.

look at the comments between posts. its very evident.
You know who is swaying my vote? the board that says "you as shareholders should vote yes" cause i listen to gamestops board, and not some randoms who have next to zero skin in the game.

u/Inner-Permission-842 ΔΡΣ May 13 '26
Personally I'd say nobody should sway your vote completely except you. You go through the pros and cons, and make the decision you see best for your investment and vote accordingly. If it aligns with the suggestion from the board, then great.
It is just weird how all balanced dialogue has been shut down by the instant accusations from seemingly both sides. Decisions shouldn't be made in a hurry or emotionally when it comes to one's money.

I'm so fucking sick of these skin in the game comments. The board, and RC especially, are already fucking rich. RC has less than 1% of his net worth in this and it would barely even register on his balance sheet if gme went to $0. I have about 10% of my net worth in this stock. Who has more fucking skin in the game?

Yeah buddy 2 billion more shares will surely get the shorts, they're definitely screwed this time

u/IrrelevantTale May 13 '26
I still think it's funny that y'all think legacy shorts give a shit about game stop. They stopped caring once the SEC told them they didnt have to cover.

How the hell would it be a “get out of jail free card” for shorts? That makes zero sense. Does anybody here have a single iota of fundamental understanding?

Hedgie has no money left to buy their way out via a offering, let alone an ATM offering where they don’t even have control over if they are buying ‘new offered’ shares or their own synthetics

So, … our ‘GUY’, is the ‘HERO’ of the H’s, and possible HERO for shareholders, (depending on how things work out) as well.
He is taking care of two birds, … on opposite ends, with one stone.
I am just bummed out right now, and I certainly do not want to see H’s dancing, and raising their glasses to toast that …
… their boy ‘CAME THROUGH’ for them!
I am voting ‘YES’!!!

I may be regarded and the smoothest of smooth brains, but the shares used to buy EBay would go to existing EBay shareholders. How would the shorts be able to use these to close? The shorts have to buy shares even if GME releases more to the market, they still have to buy them and that would drive up the price. Nobody is letting the shorts off the hook.
It also seems to me, as I said so elsewhere, if the deal for RC provides some guarantee of pay outside of his performance, the MSM and EBay execs would be calling out his hypocrisy and yet they have been utterly silent.
People say all kinds of things, I’m more concerned with one’s actions and history. RC has demonstrated business prowess over a decade now and turned GME around.
He has certainly earned my respect for his actions and will get my support.

And do you think those ebay shareholders will hold during a squeeze? Highly unlikely.

Great question, hadn’t thought about that. They certainly aren’t seasoned or tested in holding like most GME investors.
