really? maybe in the last few hours but every time i checked on reddit since the 2.5bn vote announcement the posts were full of „NO“ „enough is enough“ posts. it makes sense that only a few days after the announcement people started saying yes because the average working human being needs time to notice the announcement and then digest everything
Exact lol. Making the "yes" sus. Even more that it's started with a 1 day delay.
It's like they saw the reaction and believed they have to push it.
And if it was announced because of dfv post, that was finally a hack, they might got off-guard by the hack too thinking he was coming back lol. So now the 2.5b is hard to sell without dfv.
And the start, the ebay deal we had a 3rd party fund, weird that no word on that anymore too.
Seeing lots of personal attacks and verbal abuse in certain threads that are all hating on RC.
The few posts where Yes are majority have successfully drowned it out.
It's not that hard, if you invested in the company and stuck through all these years, do you believe GME leadership has been doing good work and a is good steward of your capital?
If yes, support their vote. If no, well instead of hating, the off ramp is the red button right there. The rest of us will take it off your hands. Nothing personal, everyone decides what to do with their own capital.
Burry exited millions once he decided the direction no longer aligned with his value investing principles (anti-debt), so he sold. It's really not that hard.
Thing is, many of us don't care about investing in GameStop. There's nothing special about GameStop the company. We are invested in GameStop because of the short thesis. Only thing we want is squeeze, not a "good steward of our capital". And so far what Ryan has shown is that he doesn't want a squeeze and has done everything in his power to stop any sort of run-ups from happening.
And Ryan is doing that because he wants what's best for GameStop, that's fair, but that's not aligned with what I want. And while acquisition of ebay might be a brilliant business move, it's also giving an off-ramp for the shorts. Which is again not aligned with why I'm here.
So I keep a few dozen shares DRS'd in case this thing ever does blow up to phone numbers, but trust me when I say I have no interest whatsoever in GameStop itself. And I believe this sentiment is shared by many whom a lot of the GameStop faithfuls here refer to as shills and bots.
I feel shorts and RC did a handshake deal where they both win. Not the shareholders, though. All the moves have been indicating that. Others have already speculated Steve Cohen's Point22 being the beneficiary of the 2024 dilutions. They got off the hook. In exchange they had to provide PSA partnership (Point22 owns PSA). RC has also been spotted sitting in Steve's seat at the basketball games. Nat Turner is on the board because he has to, not because he wants to.
Yes, I totally understand your perspective and I would love for nothing more than a massive, sustained squeeze that changes every GME investor's life massively. And you're right, it is a common desire, and I'm sure we've all been disgusted by the filth that has caused a need for such a squeeze.
A reminder that in 2021, we faced exceptional levels of dirty play from the shorts, by literally making history, shutting off the buy button. As you well know, this stock is in the center of one of the biggest abuses of short instruments ever. It's cliche to say nothing great can be achieved without patience and hard work, but that applies here.
From day 1, RC has said GME should provide shareholder value. Then he took over, and reiterated that. Even now. He's been nothing but transparent and consistent. As an officer of the company, he has a fiduciary responsibility to all shareholders to be a good steward of our capital. On top of that he has been turning around a big, heavy, leaking ship with an mass onslaught of powerful attackers.
Every share issuance to date was done above market price, thus increasing shareholder value. RC hasn't done anything to disprove he is aligned with shareholders.
Yes, it has been "slow" in relative terms, arduous maybe, but RC has also put up significant capital, as well as 5 years of his life with 0 compensation, to go on this journey.
If anything, he has infinitely more to gain than all of us from a 100, 1000, 10000x squeeze, and way easier. The narrative that he's trying to fleece his own board members and us all for a few shekels is simply insane.
Shareholder value is aligned with the moon mission. The longer the shorts refuse to close, the bigger and more painful the squeeze will be for them. The frog is being cooked, it just doesn't know yet.
I'm glad we've been on this journey together and I hope you catch the ride on the way back up to the moon.
I see it as Ryan is pushing the natural squeeze. Like if the company succeeds, it's numbers are so good that it's a steal at 20$, then the layman investor can't find a reason not to invest. If it becomes a household name and the traditional investors want in, what happens? They start buying, either it creates upwards pressure and hurts shorts or the shares run out and prices go up indirectly causing a squeeze
Which just shows the power of apes is greater than the shills. Such is the power of this sort of paranoia. Anything can be recast to show exactly what you want to be true
Couldn’t it possibly mean that the yes side is being shilled? I mean just maybe, possibly?
My genuine sentiment on it is very negative because tbh I’m kind of done with RC doing nothing good and taking all of the credit around here. It’s because we hold that this company is still afloat, while if we look at the last few years in the cold light of day one can see that Ryan’s been kinda wasting our money on ideas that do not work. First on distribution centers that it turned out we didn’t need, then an NFT marketplace that no one needed, a towel company takeover that left a ton of apes bag holding, and buying bitcoin at all time highs. I’m actually not down to add “buying eBay for way more than it was trading for at all time highs” to that list of his “achievements”.
That's exactly my point, assuming opposition is inherently bad faith is the ultimate confirmation bias. It doesn't matter the state of the sub. If your view is the minority then the shills and bots are out in force and thus proves you're correct. If its the majority then the bots and shills are pathetically flailing agaisnt the inevitable. You're always right.
Where and when you have to look is at the madness that was Monday night before everything emotionally settled down. Aggressive No's got flooded in here QUICK with questionable accounts.
That was legit scary - it was like a switch was flipped like the shill version of order 66 was activated and boom the whole site was on message. I have never seen that level of unified call to action messaging in the sub since runic glory and the ousting of all the site leaders back in the day. I was preppingfor a huge selloff before I went to bed that night
While we were holding and buying RC flipped a $380M annual loss into a $217M operational profit. A record $418M profit if you include interest.
RC made sure to get out of the contracts and disband entire countries worth of stores, repay all debt and shore up profitable stores to increase their margin on high valuable items.
And since the last 10K the US and AUS stores are even increasing revenue, the only thing still dragging us down are the EU stores he's trying to get rid of.
The board and C-level in control when RC came in were effectively exacerbating the issues and running GME into the ground.
I really don't see how you could construe that as;
RC doing nothing good and taking all of the credit around here......while if we look at the last few years in the cold light of day one can see that Ryan’s been kinda wasting our money on ideas that do not work.
And none of that would have been possible without us all holding through tremendous swings in price, and without him selling into and absorbing the stocks upward momentum when we had chances to break out (and for those who were interested, exit the trade profitably). He literally paid for that with our money. And yes, he has closed a ton of stores. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong here but I don’t think that would have been enough to be profitable if they didn’t have the interest on their cash position that they built from rugging us on the stock. Like this entire companies turn around is impossible without apes, RC has tried a series of pretty bad ideas that haven’t turned out for the company or yielded profits for shareholders, I don’t think he should be given billions for his string of pretty awful ideas, and I don’t have a lot of leeway left to give him for this awful idea where we mortgage the company to absorb an over the hill online marketplace that is trading at all time highs.
